As they wind down their current run of Australian stadium dates, Foo Fighters have added three new headline dates to the global juggernaut that is the Everything or Nothing at All Tour:

Tickets for Foo Fighters’ recently announced 2024 U.S. stadium shows are selling like Nothing at All witnessed in recent rock ’n’ roll history. The band’s return to Boston’s Fenway Park, and its first-ever headlines at Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark, Hershey Stadium in Hershey PA, Target Field in Minneapolis and Providence Park in Portland OR, as well as its two-night stand at Los Angeles’ BMO stadium have all completely sold out—with limited tickets still available for the remaining stadium plays, which include a July 17 and 19 return to New York’s Citi Field, August 3 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, August 7 at Petco Park in San Diego and August 18 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

The tour takes its name from the chorus of “Nothing at All,” from Foo Fighters’ universally acclaimed 11th album But Here We Are. Released June 2 on Roswell Records/RCA Records, But Here We Are has seen the 15-time GRAMMY-winning band garner three more nominations, while singles “Rescued” and “Under You” have cemented the band’s tally of more #1s than any other artist at Rock and Alternative Radio.

Foo Fighters want to give fans the best chance to buy tickets at face value. For fans who purchase tickets for the EVERYTHING OR NOTHING AT ALL TOUR and can’t attend, they will have the option to resell their ticket to other fans at the original price paid using Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange. 50 years to the week of its original release, MPL and UMe announce the expanded 50th anniversary edition of Paul McCartney & Wings’ iconic Band on the Run, due February 2nd, 2024.

A fixture of all-time greatest album lists for decades, the multiple GRAMMY-winning #1 smash was originally released in December of 1973. Featuring the immortal title track, worldwide hit ‘Jet,’’ the wistful ‘Bluebird,’ long-time live staple ‘Let Me Roll It,’ the multi-faceted ‘Picasso’s Last Words (Drink to Me)’ and climactic closer ‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five,’ Band on the Run is undoubtedly Wings’ most successful and celebrated release ever. Experience the 50th anniversary edition of Band on the Run HERE.

The 50th anniversary edition of Band on the Run will be available in a variety of formats, beginning with the essential 1LP. This special vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1973 by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London. The single vinyl album configuration mirrors the US tracklist, which features the song ‘Helen Wheels’ and includes a Linda McCartney Polaroid poster.

The 2LP vinyl edition features the original US album, remastered at half speed, and a second LP titled “Underdubbed” Mixes Edition, housed in a premium slipcase. The set also includes two Linda McCartney Polaroid posters.

A 2CD format will feature the original US album, “underdubbed” mixes, and a double-sided fold-out Polaroid poster taken by Linda McCartney. Band on the Run (Underdubbed) will also be released digitally.

Speaking about the “underdubbed” version, Paul said:  

“This is Band on the Run in a way you’ve never heard before. When you are making a song and putting on additional parts, like an extra guitar, that’s an overdub. Well, this version of the album is the opposite, underdubbed.”

Band on the Run (Underdubbed) presents Band on the Run’s nine classic songs for the first time without any orchestral overdubs, available digitally. The previously unreleased rough mixes were created by Geoff Emerick, assisted by Pete Swettenham at AIR Studios, on October 14th, 1973. The tracklist, newly ordered as detailed below, mirrors the original analog tapes discovered in the MPL archives.

Finally, Band on the Run will also be available in Dolby ATMOS for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.

Of the countless classic albums Paul McCartney has released throughout his illustrious career, Wings’ Band on the Run holds a place of particularly high esteem. The album not only delivered on the promise of Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway but also consolidated Wings’ status as standard bearers of ‘70s rock ’n’ roll. As the soundtrack for a decade defined by the rock radio playlists it dominated, Band on the Run would set the bar not only for Paul’s future efforts but also for generations of arena rock stars.

Exactly 50 years after its release, Band on the Run sounds as vibrant and relevant as ever, and in reaching this magnificent milestone, deserves its amazing story to be celebrated one more time. 

By the summer of 1973, Paul had a fresh batch of songs earmarked for a new album. Looking through a list of EMI’s international studios, he chose Lagos, Nigeria, to be the location of its recording, becoming enthralled with the idea of recording in Africa. Just days before departure, lead guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell quit the band. Wings were now, suddenly, a trio. Paul, his wife Linda, and band member Denny Laine (along with recording engineer Geoff Emerick) toiled in the Lagos studio’s relatively rudimentary conditions, working up the new songs over two months. Disaster struck one night when Paul and Linda were robbed at knifepoint while walking home from a friend’s house, the thieves making off with a cassette of home demo recordings of the songs. Paul was able to remember the songs as he’d only recently written them.  

Noted for its suite-like structure of three distinct movements, the title track ‘Band on the Run’ was not an obvious pop hit, but it would top the US Billboard Hot 100 and propel its parent album back up the charts, becoming a #1 smash in both the US and UK, returning to the top spot twice more in America, and becoming the best-selling studio album of 1974 in Australia, Canada, and the UK. 

Band on the Run has only grown in stature over the years. After scooping two Grammy Awards in 1975, the Deluxe Edition of Band on the Run was awarded a third in 2012—followed by the album’s induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013. It is considered the definitive Wings album and a firm fan favorite as new generations discover its genius. It took until 2010 for ‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five’ to be performed live, but now, as Paul’s solo career continues unabated, it is a regular presence in his live sets. 

Paul is currently performing songs from Band on the Run and across his unparalleled catalog at shows on his acclaimed Got Back tour. First launching in February 2022, Paul completed 16 huge gigs across the US before performing what the Times newspaper described as the “best gig ever” with his history-making headline set at Glastonbury in June 2022, a show that also saw Paul team with Dave Grohl for a special duet of ‘Band on the Run.’ 

The current leg of the tour has seen Paul return to Australia for his first live performances there in six years. Currently performing in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Paul will complete further concerts in São Paulo, Curitiba, and Rio De Janeiro.

Today, indie rock titans The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie have unveiled additional North American dates for their landmark 20th anniversary co-headline ‘Give Up Transatlanticism’ tour, set for April-May 2024 – watch the official tour trailer (directed by frequent visual collaborator Juliet Bryant) here.

The extension comes in response to massive demand from fans, following the joint tour’s critically acclaimed and wildly-successful 2023 dates. That run was entirely sold-out and included back-to-back shows at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, three nights at LA’s Hollywood Bowl, and marquee dates in many other major cities – bringing 250k+ fans together at iconic arenas and amphitheaters across the US.

This extraordinary live run celebrates the 20th anniversaries of each band’s seminal 2003 album, The Postal Service’s RIAA Platinum-certified Give Up and Death Cab for Cutie’s RIAA Platinum-certified breakthrough fourth studio LP Transatlanticism – two classics released within a mere eight months of one another, and created with a total recording budget of just $20k.

Benjamin Gibbard, co-founder of both bands, will continue to pull double duty on the 2024 dates, performing Give Up and Transatlanticism in full alongside his respective bandmates. “Few musicians have released two culture-shifting records in the span of a single year,” Pitchfork proclaimed within their glowing review of this fall’s first MSG show, “and even less have done it with two different musical outfits.”

Kicking off in Atlanta on April 23, the spring 2024 run will include stops in Nashville, Toronto, Vancouver, Milwaukee, and more, before culminating in Portland, OR on May 15. Indie rock quartet Slow Pulp is set to support each night of the tour.

Formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997, Death Cab for Cutie immediately entered the ranks of the era’s most definitive bands, thanks in large part to the remarkable power of co-founder, vocalist, guitarist, and lead songwriter Ben Gibbard’s complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003’s RIAA Platinum-certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of “The Decade’s 50 Most Important Recordings.” Fueled by critical acclaim, an array of high profile soundtrack placements, and such hit singles as “The Sound of Settling” and “Title and Registration,” the album debuted among the upper half of the Billboard 200 – Death Cab for Cutie’s first ever entry on the overall chart. A 10th anniversary edition of Transatlanticism containing previously unheard demos and outtakes arrived in 2013, prompting NPR to write, “For all its ubiquity and imitators, Transatlanticism holds up as an exquisitely produced, largely flawless record in which every song is bound to serve as someone’s favorite.”

2003 also saw Gibbard and Los Angeles, CA-based multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel, Figurine) unite as The Postal Service, a long distance collaboration named for their working method of exchanging tracks via the US Mail. The duo – joined by a number of friends including singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis – proved a phenomenon with the February 2003 release of their one and only studio LP, Give Up, earning worldwide applause and eventual RIAA Platinum certification thanks to infectious electro-pop smashes like “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” (a top 3 sensation on Billboard’s “Hot Dance Singles” chart), “We Will Become Silhouettes (which reached the top 3 on the Canadian Singles Chart), and of course, the magical RIAA Gold-certified “Such Great Heights.” The album’s stature continued to grow in the years following its original release, ultimately spending 19 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Electronic Albums” chart. In 2013, The Postal Service reunited to mark the 10th anniversary of Give Up with their biggest headline tour ever, along with top-billed performances at such international festivals as Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, and Sasquatch. In addition, a commemorative 10th anniversary edition of Give Up saw the singular collection expanded with 15 bonus tracks, including two brand new songs, “A Tattered Line of String” and “Turn Around.”

Alkaline Trio serves up another helping of Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs in the form of “Bad Time,” the darkly melodic second track to be released in advance of its 10th album, due out January 26, 2024 on Rise Records.

“Bad Time” follows last month’s unveiling of the album’s frenetic title track — hailed by Consequence for its “fresh approach” and by Brooklyn Vegan as “classic Alkaline Trio… their grim yet catchy punk sounds as unmistakable as ever” — with a more subdued yet no less intense vibe. This makes perfect sense, as the lyrics find Trio guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba finding the eyes of multiple storms in the form of the same friend’s voice:

“‘Bad Time’ was initially inspired by a friend and crush who happened to call me while I was on tour in El Paso TX as an active shooter situation was happening just across from where we were staying. We could hear gunshots and sirens as the situation escalated. My friend asked if it was a bad time to talk, and I said no — I really wanted to speak with her. It was actually a terrible and terrifying time, but it was never a bad time to hear her voice. The second verse goes back to a time in Chicago when my roommate Bobby and I were almost killed in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting — high as kites on mushrooms. We lived in a neighborhood run by Latin Kings at the time of the shooting, so I reference those facts as well as how nice it would have been to hear from the same girl back then.”

The “Bad Time” video sees Alkaline Trio reunited with director Ravi Dahr, who previously turned the song “Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs” into an apocalyptic skate-zombie (empty) pool party. “Working again with Ravi and his beautiful team has been a lot of work but even more fun,” says Skiba. “We spent the short time we had to put this together brainstorming and sending each other links and photos and film references. It’s not every day I meet someone that loves Dario Argento or Stanley Kubrick or Kenneth Anger and so on as much as I do. Ravi did all the actual, real work on this thing, but I love being involved and hope that I helped to paint this beautiful picture.” 

Recorded with GRAMMY-winning producer Cameron Webb at Studio 606 in Northridge CA, Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs finds Alkaline Trio stripping its sound down to the skin and bones of its unmistakable sonic spirit, while taking that dark essence to parts previously unknown. In addition to being a darkly shining exemplar of the Trio’s signature blend of wry lyrical wit and bittersweet melodic sensibility, Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs arrives in a confluence of endings and beginnings—it’s both the first album to be released via the band’s new label home, Rise Records, and the last to feature longtime member Derek Grant, drummer on every Alkaline Trio record since 2003’s classic Good Mourning.

Like a shot of good luck, Jenny Lewis has released a surprise just ahead of the holiday season––a special live version of “Puppy and a Truck,” recorded at her Joy’All album release show on June 16 at Nashville’s Eastside Bowl.

Featuring Lewis and her exceptional backing band–Meg Coleman, Jess Nolan, Ryan Medora and Nicole Lawrence–as well guest vocals (err…barks) from the one and only Bobby Rhubarb Lewis, mixed by Iain Thompson and mastered by John Baldwin, “Puppy and a Truck – Live at Eastside Bowl” is a rollicking rendition of the instant fan favorite from Lewis’ fifth album, Joy’All, released June 9th via Blue Note/Capitol Records.

They played the song together on Saturday Night Live last month, and now they’re each releasing their own versions: Today Foo Fighters proudly announce the Friday, November 17 digital release of a double A-side single featuring a reinterpretation of “The Glass” by H.E.R. alongside the original version from the band’s universally acclaimed But Here We Are.

H.E.R.’s newly recorded solo version of “The Glass” is nothing short of a revelation—a stunning and singular vocal/guitar performance that wrings new sonic and emotional dimensions from the original.

Foo Fighters’ “The Glass” is taken from their 11th album, But Here We Are—released June 2 via Roswell Records/RCA Records and recently nominated for three GRAMMY Awards (Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance). Like BHWA staples “Rescued,” “Under You” and “The Teacher,” “The Glass” has quickly become a new highlight of the Foo Fighters’ live juggernaut — which  shows no signs of slowing, with a November 18 Austin City Limits TV appearance and a sold out Australia/New Zealand stadium tour on the immediate horizon, as well as stadium dates and festival headlines across the US, UK and Europe going well into 2024.

Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm  

FIRST time 250 images from personal archive on exhibition in the U.S.

The Chrysler Museum of Art announces the Dec. 5, 2023, opening of the major exhibition Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm, comprised of 250 of his curated images. This exhibition runs through April 7, 2024, at the Museum, One Memorial Place, Norfolk with Dec. 5 and 6 being member-only days. 

This intimate and very personal exhibition drawn from McCartney’s private archives shares photographs from December 1963 through February 1964, as the momentum of Beatlemania began. McCartney used his Pentax camera and captured the Fab Four— himself, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr–as they rocketed from being the most idolized band in the United Kingdom to the most popular musicians in the world. 

The Museum has been fortunate to have McCartney’s photographic curator and archivist, Sarah Brown, to collaborate onsite with Chrysler Museum Senior Curator Lloyd DeWitt as they complete the installation of this once-in-a -museum’s-lifetime exhibit. McCartney, Brown and the National Portrait Gallery’s Rosie Broadley carefully selected the images for Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm for its debut earlier in 2023 at the National Portrait Gallery in London and now at The Chrysler Museum of Art. Brown will be onsite to meet with media, answer questions and lead tours through the exhibition before it opens to the public.

Visitors to this distinctive exhibition will encounter an immersive experience from the Eyes of the Storm with 250 photographs and video footage. Included ​are photographs McCartney captured of him and his bandmates at Liverpool and London gigs to The Beatles‘ perspective as they experienced in real time “The Ed Sullivan Show” in New York, a historic appearance that drew a record 73 million viewers. 

“Every picture brings back memories. I can try and place where we were and what we were doing to either side of the frame. Pictures of us with the photographers bring back memories of being in New York for the first time and being taken down to Central Park, the New York hard-bitten cameramen shouting out, ‘Hey Beatle, hey Beatle.’ We’d look at them and they’d take the picture. ‘One more for the West Coast.’ I remember all those stories,” said McCartney when interviewed by Christie’s last September.
