TAYLOR HAWKINS & THE COATTAIL RIDERS

“MIDDLE CHILD”

NEW VIDEO & JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE PERFORMANCE TODAY

“Such hyperactive cleverness, you’ll get glam-rock whiplash”—ROLLING STONE

(January 7, 2020) Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders ring in the new year with a brand new video for “Middle Child,” the “blown-out and over-the-top rocker” (STEREOGUM) from the LOUDWIRE 50 Best Rock Albums of 2019 charting album Get The Money (Shanabelle/RCA Records).

Directed by Wiley Hodgden, Taylor Hawkins, and Jeff Coffman, the “Middle Child” clip’s vintage green screen vibes recall the halcyon days of early ’80s MTV, while a star turn by Hawkins’ own middle child Annabelle casts an eye toward the future. “Middle Child” features Hawkins himself in multiple roles, behind mics, drum kits, the wheel and coach’s whistle to name a few, with support from Coattail Riders Chris Chaney (bass) and Brent Woods (guitar), both of whom played on the original song (as did Dave Grohl). Taylor will also be performing on tonight’s JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!, joined by a band featuring Grohl, Chaney and Woods for the network television debut of “Middle Child.” Don’t miss this exclusive kinda’ maybe might not ever happen again TV event!

ED O’BRIEN TO PLAY FOUR INTIMATE NORTH AMERICAN SHOWS

EOB TO PLAY FOUR INTIMATE NORTH AMERICAN SHOWS

TICKETS ON SALE DECEMBER 11th AT 10am LOCAL TIME

Pre-Sale Information & More at eobmusic.com

Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien has confirmed details of the North American debut of EOB’s live incarnation: EOB will play intimate shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto in February 2020.

These exclusive events will serve as prelude to a full scale tour in support of EOB’s debut album, due out early 2020 on Capitol Records. EOB’s live band on these four dates and the upcoming tour will be comprised of Hinako Omori, Ross Chapman, Dishan Abrahams and Alvin Ford, Jr..

Ed recently unveiled the first sights and sounds from his debut under the EOB moniker, in the form of the song “Brasil.” Described by STEREOGUM as “a nine-minute shapeshifting epic,” “Brasil” begins life as a plaintive ballad built on the bare bones of O’Brien’s voice and acoustic guitar before blooming into “a pulsing motorik driver that beats out into space” (CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND). “Brasil” was also adapted into a nine-minute short film, bringing to life a concept by Ed and director Andrew Donoho that—in the words of ROLLING STONE—”shows humanity coming together after Earth is visited by an alien power.”

The early 2020 release date of the EOB album will be revealed shortly, as will its title. The album was recorded from the fall of 2017 through early 2019. Produced by Flood and mixed by Alan Moulder, EOB’s debut album features contributions from Omar Hakim, Colin Greenwood, Adam “Cecil” Bartlett, David Okumu and Richie Kennedy, Laura Marling, Adrian Utley, Nathan East and Glenn Kotche.

Tickets for these shows will be on sale to the general public Friday, December 11 at 10am local time. Further information on ticketing, pre-sales and more can be found at eobmusic.com.

ED O’BRIEN: RELEASES NEAR-NINE-MINUTE SONG “BRASIL” & SHORT FILM UNDER EOB MONIKER

EOB: “BRASIL

RADIOHEAD’S ED O’BRIEN RELEASES NEAR-NINE-MINUTE SONG & SHORT FILM UNDER EOB MONIKER

EOB DEBUT ALBUM TO FOLLOW IN EARLY 2020 ON CAPITOL RECORDS

Limited Edition “Brasil” 12-inch Available for Pre-Order

www.EOBmusic.com

Following the non-LP teaser “Santa Teresa”—hailed as “beautifully ambient” by NPR—Ed O’Brien of Radiohead has unveiled the first impression of his debut album under the moniker of EOB.

Written by O’Brien, “Brasil” is a near 9-minute epic that begins life as a plaintive ballad built on the bare bones of O’Brien’s voice and acoustic guitar before blooming into a grandiose motorik rave-up anchored by the rock solid drumming of Omar Hakim and a hypnotic bassline from O’Brien’s Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood. Produced by Flood (who also contributes System 700 synth) and mixed by Alan Moulder, the dimensions of “Brasil” are further expanded by engineer Adam “Cecil” Bartlett’s programming, David Okumu’s guitar playing, and recording engineer Richie Kennedy’s sampler programming.

Director Andrew Donoho’s take on “Brasil” translates the song’s otherworldly feel into a global narrative exploration of the human condition. “‘Brasil’ was one of those tracks just dripping with magic from the very beginning,” Donoho recalls. “Everything started clicking very quickly. Empathy, togetherness, wonder, spirituality, and exploration resonated from the song and the references, and I wanted to write a large scope, otherworldly concept weighted in humanity. Ed and I both shared a love of space and the abstract concepts surrounding time, so I started building a narrative around transcending the physical barriers of our bodies and the temporal barriers of linear experience.”

In O’Brien’s words, “Brasil is a state of mind, not a place or time,” making the song a natural soundscape for a re-imagination of human experience balancing the terror of the elimination of the individual with the beauty of a universal oneness. “H.P. Lovecraft, Kubrick, and Junji Ito have created some of my favorite sci-fi narratives,” he says. “But I’ve always wanted to reinterpret their horrific premises into a more poetic and optimistic notion. What if an alien or higher being were to come to earth to help us achieve a greater existence, and not to destroy us? What would it look like if everyone on earth shared thoughts, experiences, and actions? The theory that humans, as a species, actually represent one large, singular organism has always fascinated me, and I wanted to explore that concept visually through a variety of different character perspectives, mediums, and impressionistic visual effects. All these layers and ideas culminated into our narrative for ‘Brasil.’”

The early 2020 release date of the first EOB album will be revealed shortly, as will the album’s title. The recording of the album began in the fall of 2017 and concluded in early 2019. In addition to the aforementioned production and mixing by Flood and Moulder and contributions from Omar Hakim, Colin Greenwood, Adam “Cecil” Bartlett, David Okumu and Richie Kennedy, EOB’s debut album features Laura Marling, Adrian Utley, Nathan East and Glenn Kotche.

LINDEMANN: FRAU & MANN, NEW ALBUM OUT NOW

LINDEMANN

F & M
SECOND ALBUM FROM TILL LINDEMANN + PETER TÄGTGREN OUT NOW

The German-Swedish power duo LINDEMANN—Till Lindemann (Rammstein frontman) and Peter Tägtgren (mastermind behind legendary metal bands Pain and Hypocrisy)—have unleashed FRAU & MANN (Lindemann/Caroline), the second LINDEMANN album today, the 22nd of November. In this renewed collaboration, the duo takes some unfamiliar and sometimes unexpected paths.

“We have no rules,” says Lindemann. “We can write soft songs or very hard ones. It’s about the emotions. We also want to create something new, something that we haven’t done before, whether it’s with Lindemann or our other bands.” Tägtgren adds: “We don’t know what the result is going to be, we’re just going crazy. If it makes us happy, then it’s done.”

The first LINDEMANN album, Skills In Pills, featured lyrics sung entirely in English. On this second opus the rules have changed: German lyrics sung by Till Lindemann’s unmistakable voice are set in an intense and unique musical framework. The music, once again, comes from Swedish multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren – an institution within the international Metal scene as the longstanding leader of Hypocrisy and Pain. Both of the artists sound even more free, schizophrenic, evil and sublime in 2019, which is just as it should be…

The starting point of these new LINDEMANN songs was a collaboration between Till Lindemann and the Hamburg Thalia Theater in the context of a modern adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Hänsel & Gretel”, which addresses topics such as fear, hope, poverty, abundance, cannibalism and death. Five songs from this critically acclaimed play were supplemented with six brand new masterpieces to form the impressive new studio work from LINDEMANN—an 11-song album that has been preceded by a wealth of sounds and visuals including “Steh Auf” and its “epic music video” (PEOPLE magazine) featuring a guest starring turn from Peter Stormare of FARGO fame, “Ich Weiß Es Nicht” and its mind-boggling AI-fueled clip, and “Knebel”  whose accompanying clip was deemed so unsettling that it was streamed only once in its uncensored form.

Still to come is a timed release of a 7-minute video accompanying “Frau & Mann” the single, which was filmed in St. Petersburg, Russia and is sure to delight fans across the globe with both its clever narrative and star-studded cast.

LINDEMANN will support the release of FRAU & MANN with a 12-date European tour taking place in February 2020. As for how the new material will be received in the current recorded and live music markets… The answer from both is simple and immediate: “We do not care.”
