Second Solo Album Out 12th November 2021 On Transgressive Records
THE NEARER THE FOUNTAIN, MORE PURE THE STREAM FLOWS PRE-ORDER HERE
Today sees the release of Particles, the third track from Damon Albarn’s second solo album The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows out 12th November on Transgressive Records. Listen here.
Particles is the uplifting final track on the album and originated in a chance conversation between Albarn and a fellow passenger on a plane bound for Reykjavik, one which covered the disruption of the pandemic and the acknowledgment that disruption is impossible to maintain as peace always prevails. The song follows the recent release of the album’s tone-setting title track plus its euphoric follow-up Polaris, which is currently A-listed on BBC 6 Music.
To accompany the song’s release, the second in a series of special, cinematic films entitled ‘Sublime Boulevards – Performance Films’ is available today on YouTube. Watch here.
Following two acclaimed festival shows in Manchester and Edinburgh this summer, as well as a special guest appearance at Latitude, Albarn will take the stage this weekend as a special guest headliner at the sold out End of the Road Festival. Full tour itinerary below.
The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows is the new studio album from Damon Albarn, out 12th November 2021 on Transgressive Records. Originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, 2020 saw Albarn return to the music in lockdown and develop the work to 11 tracks which further explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth. The result is a panoramic collection of songs with Albarn as storyteller. The album title is taken from a John Clare poem Love and Memory.
In a career of perpetual musical shifts and exploration, the record uncovers more ground, finding expansive orchestral arrangements nestling with intimate melodies, discordance brushing up against infectious majesty, all set to some of Albarn’s most arresting vocal performances to date. Much like the beauty and chaos of the natural world it soundtracks, The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows vividly documents the emotional ebb and flow of the human condition, in all its extremes, serving as a soul enriching document for our times.
The tracklisting for The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows is:
The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows
The Cormorant
Royal Morning Blue
Combustion
Daft Wader
Darkness To Light
Esja
The Tower Of Montevideo
Giraffe Trumpet Sea
Polaris
Particles
Alongside a digital release, there will be limited edition vinyl formats, plus CD and cassette. There will also be a deluxe version of the album, taking the form of a casebound book with additional photography, original scanned lyrics and artwork from Damon, alongside a white vinyl version of the album, a high quality digital file and a bonus 7” featuring an exclusive song from the recording sessions.

First up, is a new Instant Gratification track now available with The Metallica BlacklistAlbum Pre-Orders:
Kamasi Washington’s cover of “My Friend of Misery”—a completely new and different studio recording of the song Kamasi played last month at the Hollywood Bowl—that particular show featuring a surprise guest appearance from Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo.
Today sees the release of new music from Gorillaz: a 3-track EP titled Meanwhile celebrating Carnival and West London comprising tracks Déjà Vu ft. Alicaì Harley recorded live in London; the steel pan-infused Jimmy Jimmy ft. AJ Tracey; and title track Meanwhile ft. Jelani Blackman with Barrington Levy. LISTEN HERE.
Gorillaz frontman 2D said “Meanwhile Gardens are just round the corner from Memory Lane. If you get to Crawley you’ve gone too far.”
Following Gorillaz’ triumphant return to the stage earlier this month, the band’s 20th anniversary party continues with Murdoc, Russel, Noodle and 2D today sharing a very special EP of all-new music. Meanwhile is a joyous homage to the iconic Notting Hill Carnival, paused this year due to the pandemic, and West London, home to the band’s Kong Studios. The 2000 Carnival signalled the start of something big for Gorillaz with their first ever outing, a performance of ‘Clint Eastwood’ at the Middle Row Records soundsystem in Meanwhile Gardens, W10 alongside Sweetie Irie. This new EP of three tracks collectively titled Meanwhile in recognition of that special moment, is a celebration of the unique and inclusive spirit of Carnival and features Ladbroke Grove’s AJ Tracey and Jelani Blackman, as well as Jamaica-born, London-based dancehall star Alicaì Harley.
Meanwhile EP Tracklisting:
Meanwhile (ft. Jelani Blackman with Barrington Levy)
Jimmy Jimmy (ft. AJ Tracey)
Déjà Vu (ft. Alicaì Harley) Live from NW10
Gorillaz made an emotional return to the live stage earlier this month with two sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena. The performance on 10th August, to thank and recognise all NHS staff who continue to work tirelessly to keep us all safe, saw the band debut all three new tracks, with Damon Albarn and the Gorillaz live band joined onstage by AJ Tracey, Jelani Blackman and Alicaì Harley, bringing a roof-raising Carnival-esque atmosphere to the South London arena.
“…the two new songs… are an unmissable spectacle. In tribute to the Notting Hill roots of the band, the stage becomes a carnival, filled with flags and steel bands, while Jamaican singer Alicaì Harley parades the stage in a white fur hat so large, it might reverse global warming single-handed.” – The Independent, 4/5 stars
“… rising West London rapper Jelani Blackman… features on ‘Meanwhile’, a new song previewed tonight that capture the spirit of carnival the vibrant optimism of the steel band underpinning his confident bars.” – NME, 4/5 stars
“Two new songs… celebrated London’s carnival traditions, briefly transforming the arena into a Notting Hill side-street complete with soca rhythms, flags and air horns.” – Financial Times, 5/5 stars

To read the original announcement about the book, go here
Paul McCartney has revealed the list of the 154 songs featured in his forthcoming book The Lyrics, publishing 2nd November 2021.
This career-spanning selection also includes a set of lyrics to an unrecorded Beatles song: Tell Me Who He Is. During the writing of The Lyrics, the hand-written lyrics were discovered in one of Paul’s notebooks, believed to date back to the early 1960s.
Showcasing many further treasures from Paul’s archive, The Lyrics includes hand written lyric sheets, unseen personal photographs, drafts, and drawings. Each song is accompanied by a commentary by Paul McCartney giving a unique insight into his creative process.
To accompany the new book, the British Library has announced it will host a free display entitled Paul McCartney: The Lyrics (5 November 2021 – 13 March 2022), which will celebrate the songwriter and performer and feature previously unseen lyrics from his personal archive. Handwritten lyrics and photographs spanning McCartney’s career will reveal the process and people behind some of the most famous songs of all time, from his earliest compositions through legendary decades of The Beatles and Wings to the present.
More about The Lyrics:
A self-portrait in 154 songs, by our greatest living songwriter.
Paul McCartney recounts his life and art through the prism of 154 songs from all stages of his career. The Lyrics is edited and introduced by the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon.
“More often than I can count, I’ve been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right. The one thing I’ve always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs. I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I have no such notebooks. What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I’ve learned serve much the same purpose. And these songs span my entire life” – Paul McCartney, Foreward to The Lyrics

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will release B-Sides & Rarities Part II, the long anticipated follow up to 2005’s B-Sides & Rarities, on 22 October on double vinyl, double CD, deluxe double CD and all digital platforms.
B-Sides & Rarities Part I and Part II will also be released together as a Limited Edition Deluxe 7 Vinyl Box Set including 83 rare tracks and exclusive sleeve notes.
B-Sides & Rarities Part II was compiled by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, and contains 27 rare and unreleased tracks from 2006-2020, including the first recordings of ‘Skeleton Tree’, ‘Girl In Amber’ and ‘Bright Horses’.
Previously unreleased song ‘Vortex’ is available to stream now. Taken from B-Sides & Rarities Part II, it was written and recorded in 2006 by Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos. As the band were never able to define the song as either Grinderman or Bad Seeds, it remained unreleased.
The original B-Sides & Rarities Part I was released in 2005 – compiled by Mick Harvey it comprises 56 tracks including rarities, outtakes, covers and B-sides from 1988-2005. This is the first time the album is available on vinyl.
“I always liked the original B-Sides & Rarities more than any of our other albums. It’s the only one I’d listen to willingly. It seems more relaxed, even a bit nonsensical in places, but with some beautiful songs throughout. There is something, too, about the smallness of certain songs that is closer to their original spirit.
B-Sides & Rarities Part II continues this strange and beautiful collection of lost songs from The Bad Seeds. I love the final side of the last disc because it reveals the small and fragile beginnings of some of my favourite Bad Seeds songs. ‘Waiting For You’ complete with bizarre ‘canning factory’ rhythm track, a gorgeous ‘Life Per Se’ deemed too sad for Skeleton Tree, and ‘Earthlings’ that some consider the finest track of the Ghosteen sessions.” – Nick Cave
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will headline European festivals shows in Summer 2022
Nick Cave & Warren Ellis will tour the UK this Autumn

“DADDY’S HOME” VIDEO EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK LIVE NOW
THE NOWHERE INN OPENING SEPTEMBER 17
APPEARING ON JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! SEPTEMBER 21
ON TOUR IN THE U.S. STARTING SEPTEMBER 3
St. Vincent adds a slow flatbed ride to her breakneck paced fall schedule with the new video for “Daddy’s Home.” A surreal daydream sprinkled with faded glamour, the video offers a new dimension to the title track of her latest album, released May 14 by Loma Vista and currently residing on the Best of 2021 So Far lists of AV Club, Entertainment Weekly, Flood, The Needle Drop, Rolling Stone, Uproxx, Variety and more.
As on the recent Down and Out Downtown full length concert special streamed globally by Moment House, Daddy’s Home material will be brought to life alongside staples spanning the St. Vincent catalog on her hotly anticipated U.S. tour. St. Vincent will do some time on the road beginning September 3 in Portland, ME and will include headline appearances at Radio City Music Hall, Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival, the Hollywood Bowl and more before concluding October 22 at the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta. See below for a full list of tour dates.
Next stop on St. Vincent’s seemingly endless odyssey will be The Nowhere Inn, opening September 17 in theaters and everywhere movies are rented, purchased or streamed. Co-written by and co-starring St. Vincent (a/k/a Annie Clark) and Carrie Brownstein, and directed by Bill Benz (director of all the Daddy’s Home clips), the IFC Films metafictional feature presents an equally funny and fractured commentary on reality, identity, and authenticity. See the recently unveiled trailer for The Nowhere Inn HERE.
St. Vincent will then merge from the silver screen onto the TV screen, performing as musical guest on the September 21 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
