“Sometimes, you wonder: ‘Is this show gonna be as good as I hoped?’… Other shows you walk out dragging your jaw on the floor behind you, gesturing vaguely as you try to return to earth after having gotten blown clean out of the atmosphere… Amyl and the Sniffers are that band.” — THE PITCH
“One of the most exhilarating bands to emerge over the past decade”— CONSEQUENCE
Amyl and The Sniffers offer up a sweetly melodic new dimension of their sonic onslaught with “Big Dreams,” the newest advance offering from their upcoming third album Cartoon Darkness, out October 25 via B2B Records / Virgin Music Group.
Following in the footsteps of Pitchfork Hot Link / BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record “Chewing Gum” and Brooklyn Vegan / Consequence / Paper / Paste / Under the Radar Song of the Week “U Should Not Be Doing That,” “Big Dreams” is shot through with a previously unheard vulnerability, one that hints at the new heights and depth achieved on Cartoon Darkness. Speaking on how exactly Amyl and The Sniffers crafted the closest they’ve ever come to a straight-up ballad, singer Amy Taylor said:
“I am writing this before ‘Big Dreams’ comes out, and I am actually a bit nervous that it’s a single, because it’s so different from a lot of people’s expectations of us. This song was written because a lot of people in my life are struggling financially, and it’s really hard to make your dreams come true when you’re trying to get by day-to-day. But when I think of my friends doing what they love, and I see how good they are at it, I just know they’ve never been dull, they’ve always been lit, and there’s nothing that will break that or take it away from them.
The video we shot in the desert, it was the first clip we shot for this album, and it was fun as hell.”
The “Big Dreams” video can be seen at https://youtu.be/ipZSqcFA0Z0. Directed by PHC Films and shot in one continuous take, the epic clip sees the song’s sublime strains serving as soundtrack for the band’s quasi-apocalyptic desert motorcycle ride.
Cartoon Darkness was recorded with producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles in early 2024. The album will be available in multiple formats, including limited edition glow in the dark vinyl with alternate artwork.
Having spent the summer in North America ricocheting between stadium supports and a sold-out headline tour, Amyl and The Sniffers will embark on a UK / EURO tour in November, and will be main support for Fontaines D.C. at Finsbury Park on July 5th, 2025.

In a move as unprecedented as it is unexpected, St. Vincent will release Todos Nacen Gritando, a Spanish language version of her wildly acclaimed All Born Screaming album November 15 via Total Pleasure Records in partnership with Virgin Music Group.
St. Vincent explains the inspiration behind Todos Nacen Gritando, as well as how the equilibrium between accuracy of translation and intensity of performance was achieved — with the invaluable aid of Alan Del Rio Ortiz:
“The origins of Todos Nacen Gritando can be traced back to some of the most memorable shows I’ve ever played, in Mexico, South America and recently Primavera Barcelona in 2023. Though separated by time and geography, and across a diverse range of settings and venues, these crowds were united in their passion—singing every word to every song in perfect English. It was truly inspiring. Eventually, I asked myself: If they can sing along in a second or third language, why can’t I meet them halfway? So I enlisted my best friend and occasional collaborator Alan Del Rio Ortiz to work on translating these lyrics, tweaking here and there for melodic reasons, making every effort to stay true to the song at hand without sacrificing accuracy. After much rewriting and re-singing every vocal track on the album, the result is Todos Nacen Gritando, equal parts labor of love and tribute to the people who inspired it.”
The album’s release is preceded by first single “Hombre Roto,” a Spanish language version of All Born Screaming standout and current live highlight “Broken Man.” As with all 10 songs on Todos Nacen Gritando, “Hombre Roto” finds Annie Clark a/k/a St. Vincent belting en Espanol while sacrificing none of the “volcanic buildup” (The New York Times) of the original.
Todos Nacen Gritando features St. Vincent’s fiery new vocal tracks atop the foundation of the “satisfyingly urgent” (Rolling Stone) original album, as recorded with the stellar roster of Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa and David Ralicke — and produced by St. Vincent and mixed by Cian Riordan.

Metallica has confirmed that its record-breaking M72 World Tour will be extended into a third year, with the announcement of 21 North American shows spanning April, May and June 2025.
Two-night tickets for the newly announced No Repeat Weekends and tickets for the single-night engagements will be on sale September 27 at 10am local time. Fan club pre-sales begin September 23 at 10am local time. For further information, enhanced experiences, travel packages and more, go to https://metallica.lnk.to/M72WorldTour2025
Since opening April 2023 in Amsterdam, M72 has seen Metallica play to some three million fans. Variously hailed as “an altogether life-affirming experience” (Billboard), “impossible to leave unsatisfied” (Austin Chronicle), “a stone-cold stunner of a show” (Detroit News), “the mother of all summer concerts” (Worcester Telegram Gazette) and “as tight and furious as Metallica has sounded in ages” (Los Angeles Times), M72 continues to amaze fans and critics alike. The tour will conclude its triumphant 2024 run with four nights at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, where Metallica will play to more than 250,000 fans over the course of two No Repeat Weekends.
The M72 World Tour’s 2025 itinerary will continue the hallowed No Repeat Weekend tradition, with each night of the two-show stands featuring entirely different setlists and support lineups. These will include the band’s first Nashville shows in five years on May 1 and 3 at Nissan Stadium, as well as Metallica’s return to Tampa after 15 years on June 6 and 8 at Raymond James Stadium. M72 has also confirmed its much anticipated Bay Area hometown play, to take place June 20 and 22 with the band’s debut performances at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
In a new twist, M72 2025 will feature several single shows bringing the tour’s full production, with its massive in-the-round stage, to venues including two college football stadiums: JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York on April 19, and Metallica’s first ever visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, home of the Virginia Tech Hokies. The May 7 show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.
In addition to playing football stadiums across the nation, the M72 World Tour’s 2025 itinerary will also include two festival headlines—the first being the opening night of the run April 12 at Sick New World at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. May 9 and 11 will then mark a festival/No Repeat Weekend combo as Metallica plays two headline sets at Sonic Temple at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Support on M72’s 2025 North American run will come from Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills. See below for specifics.
Additionally, M72 2025 will see Metallica’s long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand. Stay tuned to https://www.metallica.com/ for further announcements.

FINAL 2024 LIVE DATE AT HFSTIVAL THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
“As we bring the Transatlanticism / Give Up Tour to a close, I want you all to know that getting the opportunity to perform these two albums live has been one of the greatest thrills and honors of my entire life. On behalf of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service; Thank you so much for coming out and singing along. We will see you all again somewhere down the road.” – Benjamin Gibbard
The Postal Service has confirmed that the final date of the wildly successful and critically celebrated Transatlanticism / Give Up Tour — this Saturday, September 21 at HFStival in Washington DC — will mark the beginning of an indefinite hiatus for the band.
Since making their long awaited return to stages last September, The Postal Service have toured across North America, the UK and Spain, drawing nearly half a million fans to one unforgettable show after another — including a pair of sold-out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden, three sold-out nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and more recently, headlining the closing night of the All Points East festival in London.
“In the crowd, tears are shed, clusters of people dance, and memories are rekindled. The show as a whole serves as a reminder of Gibbard’s endurance, too.” – The Independent Extended into 2024 by popular demand, this extraordinary run celebrated the 20th anniversaries of both The Postal Service’s lone masterpiece Give Up and Death Cab for Cutie’s breakthrough Transatlanticism – two RIAA Platinum-certified indie classics released in 2003 within a mere eight months of one another, and created with a total recording budget of just $20k.

FEATURING COMPLETE LIVE PERFORMANCES OF THE LANDMARK, RIAA PLATINUM-CERTIFIED 2003 ALBUMS – THE POSTAL SERVICE’s GIVE UP & DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE’S TRANSATLANTICISM
Today, The Postal Service have shared a brand-new remix of their fan-favorite track “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” by multi-GRAMMY Award nominated electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso.
The track – which is taken from the band’s critically acclaimed album Give Up – comes ahead of their extended 20th anniversary co-headline ‘Give Up Transatlanticism’ tour with Death Cab for Cutie. This extraordinary live run celebrates the 20th anniversaries of each band’s seminal 2003 album, The Postal Service’s RIAA Platinum-certified Give Up and Death Cab for Cutie’s RIAA Platinum-certified breakthrough fourth studio LP Transatlanticism – two classics released within a mere eight months of one another, and created with a total recording budget of just $20k.
Speaking on the remix – which is released via Sub Pop – The Postal Service’s Jimmy Tamborello says, “I love Sylvan Esso and was excited to hear the song through their ears. It came out so good, big and tweaky and fun!”
Speaking on being asked to reimagine the track, Sylvan Esso say, “’The District Sleeps Alone Tonight’ was a formative song for both of us, Nick remembers hearing the promo copy spooling out of his car speakers while he delivered pizza – Amelia remembers hearing it in the back of someone’s van during her freshman lunch hour. Both of us thought the song touched something new then – and to be asked to reinterpret it now is an honor.”

This week’s highly anticipated live dates include shows in Glasgow, Cardiff, and Barcelona (tickets available HERE), as well as their co-headline show at London’s All Points East (ft. The Decemberists, Yo La Tengo, Phoenix, The Lemon Twigs, Sleater-Kinney, Teenage Fanclub, Gossip + more) on 25th August, as well as Kalorama in Madrid, Spain, and Meo Kalorama in Lisbon, Portugal. Full dates outlined below. Support at the Glasgow and Cardiff dates comes from Teenage Fanclub and from The Kills in Barcelona.
The extension comes in response to massive demand from fans, following the joint tour’s critically acclaimed and wildly-successful US 2023 dates. That run was entirely sold-out and included back-to-back shows at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, three nights at LA’s Hollywood Bowl, and marquee dates in many other major cities – bringing 250k+ fans together at iconic arenas and amphitheatres across the US.
Benjamin Gibbard, co-founder of both bands, will continue to pull double duty on the 2024 dates, performing Give Up and Transatlanticism in full alongside his respective bandmates. “Few musicians have released two culture-shifting records in the span of a single year,” Pitchfork proclaimed within their glowing review of this fall’s first MSG show, “and even less have done it with two different musical outfits.”
“I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003. The Postal Service record came out, Transatlanticism came out. These two records will be on my tombstone, and I’m totally fine with that. I’ve never had a more creatively inspired year.”– Benjamin Gibbard
Ben also recently spoke with The Guardian for a career-spanning piece ahead of the live dates. Take a read HERE.
The Postal Service is comprised of Gibbard, Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis; Death Cab for Cutie is comprised of Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr. All upcoming tour dates are enclosed below.

Formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997, Death Cab for Cutie immediately entered the ranks of the era’s most definitive bands, thanks in large part to the remarkable power of co-founder, vocalist, guitarist, and lead songwriter Ben Gibbard’s complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003’s RIAA Platinum-certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of “The Decade’s 50 Most Important Recordings.” Fueled by critical acclaim, an array of high profile soundtrack placements, and such hit singles as “The Sound of Settling” and “Title and Registration,” the album debuted among the upper half of the Billboard 200 – Death Cab for Cutie’s first ever entry on the overall chart. A 10th anniversary edition of Transatlanticism containing previously unheard demos and outtakes arrived in 2013, prompting NPR to write, “For all its ubiquity and imitators, Transatlanticism holds up as an exquisitely produced, largely flawless record in which every song is bound to serve as someone’s favorite.”
2003 also saw Gibbard and Los Angeles, CA-based multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel, Figurine) unite as The Postal Service, a long distance collaboration named for their working method of exchanging tracks via the US Mail. The duo – joined by a number of friends including singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis – proved a phenomenon with the February 2003 release of their one and only studio LP, Give Up, earning worldwide applause and eventual RIAA Platinum certification thanks to infectious electro-pop smashes like “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” (a top 3 sensation on Billboard’s “Hot Dance Singles” chart), “We Will Become Silhouettes” (which reached the top 3 on the Canadian Singles Chart), and of course, the magical RIAA Gold-certified “Such Great Heights.” The album’s stature continued to grow in the years following its original release, ultimately spending 19 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Electronic Albums” chart. In 2013, The Postal Service reunited to mark the 10th anniversary of Give Up with their biggest headline tour ever, along with top-billed performances at such international festivals as Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, and Sasquatch. In addition, a commemorative 10th anniversary edition of Give Up saw the singular collection expanded with 15 bonus tracks, including two brand new songs, “A Tattered Line of String” and “Turn Around.”

Fresh off a run of North American shows ranging from stadium dates supporting Foo Fighters to a sold-out two-night finale at the Fonda in L.A., Amyl and The Sniffers are pleased to announce the release of their third album Cartoon Darkness. Set for release via B2B Records / Virgin Music Group on October 25th, the album was recorded with producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles in early 2024. The album will be available in multiple formats, including limited edition glow in the dark vinyl with alternate artwork, and will feature lead track and BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record “Chewing Gum,” as well as previously released Brooklyn Vegan/Consequence/Paper/Paste/Under the Radar Song of the Week “U Should Not Be Doing That,” and no less than 11 more bangers that showcase the band’s quantum progression and boundless energy.
Singer Amy Taylor explains, “Cartoon Darkness is about climate crisis, war, AI, tiptoeing on the eggshells of politics, and people feeling like they’re helping by having a voice online when we’re all just feeding the data beast of Big Tech, our modern-day god. It’s about the fact that our generation is spoon-fed information. We look like adults, but we’re children forever cocooned in a shell. We’re all passively gulping up distractions that don’t even cause pleasure, sensation or joy, they just cause numbness.”
“Cartoon Darkness is driving headfirst into the unknown, into this looming sketch of the future that feels terrible but doesn’t even exist yet. A childlike darkness. I don’t want to meet the devil half-way and mourn what we have right now. The future is cartoon, the prescription is dark, but it’s novelty. It’s just a joke. It’s fun.”
Regarding lead track “Chewing Gum,” Taylor comments, “The adversity of life is desire never fulfilled. Doing the dishes cleaning, but never the one eating the meal, so close but it’s never enough, and trying to celebrate the ignorance of youth despite it being robbed away, so choosing ignorance, choosing to be dumb and choosing love, despite everything, choosing bad decisions for love, for life, because it is short, or is it long? Surrendering to joy, surrendering to being a vision, in your own power, because making decisions based on emotion rather than logic is liberating, and despite the external inferno, you walk away unscathed, through flames, burnt but only superficially, unstopped, unaffected, unhuman. Life is work, life is not free, we can never work enough because the end goal doesn’t exist, so all we can do is choose to be wrong.”Amyl and The Sniffers will be heading out on a UK / EURO tour in November and will be main support for Fontaines D.C. at Finsbury Park on July 5th, 2025.

ALKALINE TRIO “THE SACRIFICE” / “AT SICKNESS” DOUBLE A-SIDE SINGLE OUT NOW
Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs The Tour Returns to the U.S. Next Month
If 11 tracks worth of Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs wasn’t enough for you, your luck has taken a sweet and dark turn: Today marks the release of two all-new, previously unheard Alkaline Trio songs. “The Sacrifice” and “At Sickness” are now available everywhere as a double A-side digital single.
Additionally, “The Sacrifice” and “At Sickness” will be released October 18th as a limited edition 7” vinyl in two variants, available exclusively via alkalinetrio.com and RiseRecords.com.
Guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba commented: “We are very excited to be releasing these two songs as a seven inch. Putting out an EP on 7” vinyl is something we haven’t had the opportunity to do for a long time, so having two new songs to offer up on such a classic format is fun for us as vinyl enthusiasts. Both ‘At Sickness’ and ‘The Sacrifice’ were initially written and recorded for our Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs album and leaving them off the record wasn’t an easy decision. It was done merely in the interest of the full-length’s running time, which we wanted to keep under 40 minutes. We’re psyched that these two numbers are being released and will be available on their own special format, no less.”
Having just completed a run of nightly singalongs with some of the largest and most enthusiastic European crowds they’ve ever drawn, Skiba, bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano and drummer Atom Willard have been working the road nonstop since the January 26, 2024 release of Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs — the 10th Alkaline Trio album and first on Rise Records. The new songs have been meshing seamlessly with classics and deep cuts from landmark Trio works including Agony & Irony, Crimson, Good Mourning, From Here to Infirmary, Maybe I’ll Catch Fire, Goddamnit and more, with the band in top form night after night. Nearly 60 years after The Beatles performed their final concert at Candlestick Park, Beatlemania is back in the Bay. Organized by the National Portrait Gallery, London, and presented exclusively in California at the de Young museum, Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–1964: Eyes of the Storm will present more than 250 personal photos by Paul McCartney, video clips, and archival materials, that offer a behind-the-scenes look into the meteoric rise of the world’s most celebrated band.
“In Eyes of the Storm, recently unearthed photographs by Paul McCartney provide a rare time capsule of The Beatles’ world at the moment of their extraordinary rise to fame,” remarked Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. “Well known as one of the world’s most famous musical stars, it is a revelation to discover McCartney’s proficiency as a photographer, documenting everything from the band’s quieter moments and friendships to the ‘Beatlemania’ of the time. We’re honored to present this exhibition here in San Francisco, where The Beatles left an indelible mark on our city’s musical and cultural history.”
Eyes of the Storm captures a period from December 1963 through February 1964 when The Beatles performed in concert halls across England and toured in the United States. McCartney’s images reveal the intensity of life on tour, as The Beatles were whisked from concerts to hotels, trailed by enthusiastic fans from New York to Miami. Photographs of screaming crowds and paparazzi illustrate the sheer magnitude of the group’s superstardom. In stark contrast, behind-closed-doors images captured by McCartney highlight the humor and individuality of the band members on their days off. Eyes of the Storm invites visitors to witness The Beatles’ journey to stardom, from local venues in Liverpool to the Ed Sullivan Show and worldwide acclaim. McCartney’s photographs of the four band members existed as unprinted negatives and contact sheets for 60 years. Rediscovered in the artist’s personal archive in 2020, these images offer new insight into the band, their fans, and the early 1960s, as seen through the eyes of Paul McCartney.
“In this exhibition, we glimpse McCartney both behind and in front of the lens, as he bears witness to a pivotal cultural moment through the camera with a keen artistic eye,” said organizing curator Sally Martin Katz. “From portraiture to landscapes and documentary shots, McCartney demonstrates a deep understanding of the formal styles prevalent in early 1960s photography. Throughout the exhibition, nods to New Wave, documentary filmmaking, and photojournalism underscore McCartney’s multifaceted approach to capturing the spirit of the time.”
Opening March 1, 2025 at the de Young museum, Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm will run through July 6.

About the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, comprising the de Young in Golden Gate Park and the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, is the largest public arts institution in San Francisco.
The de Young museum originated from the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition in Golden Gate Park. The present copper-clad landmark building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, opened in 2005. Reflecting an active conversation among cultures, perspectives, and time periods, the collections on view include American painting, sculpture, and decorative arts from the 17th to the 21st centuries; arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; costume and textile arts; and international modern and contemporary art.
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are located on land unceded by the Ramaytush Ohlone, who are the original inhabitants of what is now the San Francisco Peninsula. The greater Bay Area is also the ancestral territory of other Ohlone peoples, as well as the Miwok, Yokuts, and Patwin. We acknowledge, recognize, and honor the Indigenous ancestors, elders, and descendants whose nations and communities have lived in the Bay Area over many generations and continue to do so today. We respect the enduring relationships that exist between Indigenous peoples and their homelands. We are committed to partnering with Indigenous communities to raise awareness of their legacy and engage with the history of the region, the impacts of genocide, and the dynamics of settler colonialism that persist today.
