ANDREW BIRD RETURNS TO THE ROAD

“IMITOSIS” VIDEO DEBUTS AUGUST 16 AT http://www.myspace.com/andrewbird

“His smart and sparkly indie pop, layered with violin, guitar and
glockenspiel, is just the right parts darkness and light” — NEWSWEEK

“..an ability to make a marriage of classical music and pop sound cool” — DETAILS

Continuing his eco-friendly efforts, Chicago native Andrew Bird will hit the road aboard a bio-diesel tour bus for select dates in the US and Canada this fall, including appearances at the Austin City Limits Festival and Bumbershoot.
Since the top 100 debut of Armchair Apocrypha, Andrew has kept busy touring throughout Europe and the States, headlining to capacity crowds and delivering standout sets at SXSW, Coachella, and supporting the Decemberists at the Hollywood Bowl show in July, where he inspired the Los Angeles Times to comment “the lanky, violin-playing Bird offered an unlikely pastiche of Appalachian folk, John Zorn and Sergio Leone”

Earlier in May, a concert at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC was webcast by NPR and is available for download here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10213407

On August 16th, the music video for “Imitosis” will debut on Andrew’s Myspace page for one week. Filmed in Seattle by noted short film director Britta Johnson, this video features Andrew and his band, Martin Dosh and Jeremy Ylvisaker, performing in a part science-film, part dream-world drawing from the palettes and photographic style of science books from the late 1960s.
Be sure to watch tomorrow!

JIMMY EAT WORLD CONFIRMS RELEASE DATE FOR NEW ALBUM

CHASE THIS LIGHT IN STORES OCT. 16 ON INTERSCOPE RECORDS
FIRST SINGLE “BIG CASINO” ON AIR END OF AUGUST

“Jimmy Eat World delivered a captivating performance – one that spanned, and sometimes re-imagined, its catalog…”–Arizona Republic

“the concert was a triumph on all levels.. If you have any chance whatsoever to see this tour, do what you must. Road trip, buy tickets on eBay, whatever. Just get there.”–AbsolutePunk.net

“It was so good, I was still singing in the shower two days afterwards. I suspect that was the feeling of the rest of the crowd as they walked out, most of them with some variation of “wow” or “oh my god” on their lips or cell phones. Let’s hope a live recording from this tour gets released because it truly was something to behold.”–Pastepunk.com

“The band teased the audience by performing two new ready-for-radio tracks – “Carry You” and “Big Casino”… the show was packed with highlights… the group brought the house down”–GetoutAZ.com

Having just completed a rapturously received tour of intimate rooms on which old standards, rarely performed favorites and a few new songs were aired, Jimmy Eat World has confirmed an October 16 release for their new album Chase This Light. Futures itself came in the wake of the band’s 2001 breakthrough album Jimmy Eat World (originally titled Bleed American).

The band is currently en route from its debut trek through South Africa to a run of UK/European festival shows, including Reading and Leeds at the end of the month, which will conclude as Chase This Light’s first single “Big Casino” hits radio. Other highlights from the forthcoming record include the uptempo singalong “Electable (Give It Up),” “Carry You” (cited as a highlight of their recent warm-up shows), and sure to be future live staples “Let It Happen” and “Like She’ll Always Be.”

“…like a ghostly David Bowie” — THE NEW YORKER

Dax Riggs’ appearance at the 2007 Austin City Limits festival in September will kick off a string of dates opening for Queens of the Stone Age in support of his solo debut, We Sing of Only Blood or Love (Fat Possum Records).

Having disbanded the well-received deadboy & The Elephantmen, Riggs teamed up with esteemed musician/producer Matt Sweeney to record the 15-track We Sing… under his own name. And considering the first two song titles on We Sing of Only Blood or Love are “Demon Tied to a Chair best online casino in My Brain” and “Didn’t Know Yet What I’d Know When I Was Bleedin’,” it’s quite clear Dax hasn’t lost the morbidly rocking edge that earned deadboy & the Elephantmen critical and cult acclaim.

Sept. 15 – Austin, TX – Austin City Limits – La Zona Rosa

RYAN ADAMS ANNOUNCES FALL TOUR DATES

CRITICAL PRAISE CONTINUES FOR LIVE PERFORMANCES, NEW ALBUM
“an intimate, finely detailed acoustic concert showcasing Adams’ skills as a balladeer, making a convincing argument that he is one of our best chroniclers of heartbreak… he’s probably giving the best performances of his career.”
– Variety
“Easy Tiger’s burnished, vulnerable balladry yields both a proportional elegance and a deep soulfulness”
– Los Angeles Times
“Adams is making the best music of his life and has put together a versatile band that follows his every twist and turn.”
– Portland Oregonian
Every band struggles to some extent with how to recreate their studio work on stage, and that struggle can be exacerbated when a catalog is as diverse (and yes, as large) as that of Ryan Adams & The Cardinals. But as evidenced by the above quotes (any many others like them) Ryan & The Cards are not only living up to the high bar set by Ryan’s new album Easy Tiger, but are by many accounts turning in their best performances ever. The band has just wrapped up a hugely successful summer tour and announced a new batch of fall dates that launches immediately after an upcoming two week tour of New Zealand and Australia.
Calling Easy Tiger a “high bar” is perhaps an understatement; the album has been widely hailed as some of Ryan’s best work to date. As People noted, “Adams is still capable of the real revelation, as on ‘I Taught Myself To Grow Old’, where he schools the competition on how to make a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad.” Time called the album “a career breakthrough”, and Entertainment Weekly summed it up nicely: “Easy Tiger keeps it simple: beguiling melodies, an ace band, and Adams’ elastic tenor.”

FOO FIGHTERS ANNOUNCE FIRST SINGLE FROM ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE!

FOO FIGHTERS
“The Pretender”
First Single From Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace to Debut Friday August 3rd on Summer X-Games
Available For Download Tuesday August 7

Having commemorated their tenth anniversary with a year-plus run commencing with In Your Honor (a double album the New York Times called an “unexpected magnum opus”), sold out rock arena shows and a toned down intimate theater trek, and a headlining gig at London’s Hyde Park for a crowd of 85,000, the question looms larger than any in the Foo Fighters’ career to date: What do they do for an encore?!?

The answer comes in the form of “The Pretender,” the first single from the band’s sixth studio album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, out September 25 on Roswell/RCA. Produced by Gil Norton, who last worked with the band on 1997’s double-platinum The Colour and The Shape (recently reissued in deluxe 10th anniversary form), Dave Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarist Chris Shiflett have crafted a 12-track milestone that casino online showcases and reconciles the band’s every strength and sensibility in the most complex and confident Foo Fighters album to date.

“The Pretender” is a prime example of the newest weapon in the formidable Foo Fighters arsenal: The track begins with a sparse, ominous minor key single guitar and vocal intro before exploding into a frenetic, explosive anthem that stops on a dime in just enough time to leave the listener fully winded but wanting more. Early reaction to the track has it poised to become an instant fan favorite and staple of the FF live set for years to come.

“The Pretender” will receive a special premiere/preview during Friday’s Summer X-Games broadcast on ESPN (check local listings) and will be featured prominently throughout ESPN’s coverage of the Games. This unique debut coincides with the track’s launch at rock radio, where it became the chart’s greatest gainer within hours of being available for broadcast. “The Pretender” will be commercially available for download this coming Tuesday, August 7.
