Limited Special Edition to Feature Exclusive Packaging, Art, Badges, Stickers and Patch
D-Sides, an assortment of B-sides from Gorillaz’ multi-platinum second album Demon Days, early demos and previously unreleased tracks compiled together for the first time, has been confirmed for a November 20 U.S. release on Virgin Records. D-Sides highlights include “Hong Kong,” the lush and lovely track recorded by Gorillaz for Warchild and the surprise hit of last year’s Demon Days Live show (given an exclusive refit here with added strings), the dubbed-out collaboration with The Bees, “Bill Murray,” and the apocalyptic scum-pop of “We Are Happy Landfill.” “Stop The Dams” is another collaboration, this time with the Sugarcubes’ Einar Orn, protesting against dam building in Iceland’s wilderness. Demos “People” (which later became Demon Days single “DARE”) and “Don’t Get Lost in Heaven” give a sneak peek into the band’s creative process, while the Mandarin version of “Dirty Harry” provides an insight into how Gorillaz might sound if they’d been born east of the Yangtze instead of deep in the wilds of Essex, while D-Sides’ bonus CD of remixes includes reworkings by DFA, Junior Sanchez and Hot Chip. A special edition of D-Sides will be available in a debossed glossy dual box, and will include two exclusive Jamie Hewlett prints, a collection of Gorillaz badges, stickers and a “Choose Pazuzu” patch. The track listing will be the same as the standard edition. D-Sides follows the immensely popular G-Sides, a collection of B-sides and rarities from the band’s debut album, Gorillaz. Follow The Lights is a seven song collection that includes both new and old compositions, several of which were recorded live in the studio this summer.
The two new songs on the disc, “Follow The Lights” and “My Love For You Is Real” will both be featured prominently in this fall’s season of the ABC primetime drama “October Road” (airing 10pm on Mondays). “Follow The Lights” will also be used in bumpers leading up to the show’s season premiere on November 26th. The complete sequence for Follow The Lights is:

Follow The Lights comes on the heels of Ryan’s latest full length album Easy Tiger, which has been widely recognized as some of his finest work to date. The Associated Press described it as “the most cohesive and intricately arranged album [Adams] has ever made”, and Time called it “a career breakthrough.” Since Easy Tiger’s release Ryan & The Cards have been on the road almost constantly, and as Variety recently put it, “[Adams is] probably giving the best performances of his career.”

PJ HARVEY CONFIRMS TWO EXCLUSIVE U.S. PERFORMANCES
OCTOBER 15 AT THE ORPHEUM IN LOS ANGELES
WHITE CHALK OUT SEPTEMBER 25
PJ Harvey has confirmed two exclusive one-off U.S. solo performances to coincide with the release of her eighth studio album, White Chalk, out October 2nd on Island Records.
The shows will take place at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on October 10th and The Orpheum in Los Angeles on October 15th and will feature the U.S. live debut of material from White Chalk as well as material spanning PJ Harvey’s career.
Tickets for both shows go on-sale on Friday September 7th.
No other U.S. dates are planned at present.
Early reaction to White Chalk from the U.S. press has been phenomenal. ROLLING STONE reacted to first single “When Under Ether” with a four star review, calling it an “incredibly eerie piano ballad” that “bodes extremely well for the rest of White Chalk,” while NEW YORK magazine cited White Chalk one of the most anticipated releases of the fall.
White Chalk is a departure from previous PJ Harvey studio albums in that it was written on piano. White Chalk was produced by PJ Harvey with Flood and John Parish, the three of whom previously worked together on the GRAMMY-nominated To Bring You My Love and Is This Desire?, and includes musical contributions from Harvey’s long time associate Eric Drew Feldman, and Jim White from The Dirty Three.

JIMMY EAT WORLD ANNOUNCES FALL TOUR DATES
FIRST SINGLE ‘BIG CASINO’ AVAILABLE ONLINE NOW
Jimmy Eat World has announced a North American US tour to coincide with the Oct. 16 release of its new album, Chase This Light. The Mesa AZ quartet has covered a good chunk of the globe over the past few months, debuting songs from the forthcoming album and airing both standards and seldom-heard fan favorites alike. The band’s recent U.S. dates generated some of the best live reviews of the band’s career (”a captivating performance that spanned and sometimes re-imagined its catalog”–Arizona Republic) and were followed by a debut tour of South Africa, and finally a string of European festival appearances that culminated at Reading/Leeds in the UK this past weekend.
“Big Casino”, the first single from Chase This Light, is now available at all online music retail, and the album can be pre-ordered at iTunes.
Chase This Light is the band’s first full length studio album since the gold-certified Futures, which landed on ROLLING STONE, BLENDER and SPIN’s Best of 2004 lists. Executive producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Sonic Youth) recently described the album as “Quite eclectic. There are three or four songs that sound like classic Jimmy Eat World, with angular, razor-sharp guitars. There are a couple that are a lot more dreamy, and some that are very groove-acious.”
Confirmed tour dates listed below. Look for more U.S. shows to be announced in the coming weeks. For further information on the tour and Chase This Light contact Steve Martin or Eliot Wadsworth at nasty little man Phone: 212.343.0740 email: eliot@nastylittleman.com

BECK TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE
ON SALE AT ALL OTHER DIGITAL RETAIL 8/28
“Not since the Stones wrote “Satisfaction” has rock ‘n’ roll been so unpredictable.” – San Francisco Chronicle review of The Information
Beck is back at it. On Tuesday 8/21 he will release a self-produced new track called “Timebomb”, which for one week will be available only at iTunes. The following week the track will be available at all other digital music retail.
“Timebomb” is the first new music from Beck since The Information, which was released in October 2006. The lyric of “Timebomb” echoes some of the dark themes from that album but is packaged in digital gris gris thunder as only Beck can do it. The track features Beck on vocals and keyboards, Brian LeBarton on keys and guitar, and a whole gang of studio visitors on back-up vocals. Beck currently has no plans for other releases, full album or otherwise.

PJ HARVEY: WHITE CHALK OUT OCTOBER 2
PJ Harvey will release her eighth studio album, White Chalk, October 2nd on Island Records.
Described by the NME as “Sparse sounds, spine-tingling pianos and vocals that bring a tear to the eye-in a good way,” White Chalk is a departure from previous PJ Harvey studio albums in that it was written on piano and does not feature her trademark electric guitar.
PJ Harvey debuted four tracks from White Chalk at a sold out performance at the Manchester International Festival on July 7th and has confirmed two other UK one-off dates prior to coincide with record’s release: September 24th at Bristol’s Colston Hall and a long since sold-out show on September 29th at London’s Royal Festival Hall, her only confirmed London date this year.
The album will be preceded by the single “When Under Ether,” which will be released in the UK September 17th on 7″ vinyl and download, and will feature the B-side “Wait,” one of Harvey’s first ever recordings dating back to 1988.

ANDREW BIRD RETURNS TO THE ROAD
“His smart and sparkly indie pop, layered with violin, guitar and
glockenspiel, is just the right parts darkness and light” — NEWSWEEK
“..an ability to make a marriage of classical music and pop sound cool” — DETAILS
Continuing his eco-friendly efforts, Chicago native Andrew Bird will hit the road aboard a bio-diesel tour bus for select dates in the US and Canada this fall, including appearances at the Austin City Limits Festival and Bumbershoot.
Since the top 100 debut of Armchair Apocrypha, Andrew has kept busy touring throughout Europe and the States, headlining to capacity crowds and delivering standout sets at SXSW, Coachella, and supporting the Decemberists at the Hollywood Bowl show in July, where he inspired the Los Angeles Times to comment “the lanky, violin-playing Bird offered an unlikely pastiche of Appalachian folk, John Zorn and Sergio Leone”
Earlier in May, a concert at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC was webcast by NPR and is available for download here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10213407
On August 16th, the music video for “Imitosis” will debut on Andrew’s Myspace page for one week. Filmed in Seattle by noted short film director Britta Johnson, this video features Andrew and his band, Martin Dosh and Jeremy Ylvisaker, performing in a part science-film, part dream-world drawing from the palettes and photographic style of science books from the late 1960s.
Be sure to watch tomorrow!
