TOKYO POLICE CLUB ELEPHANT SHELL DEBUT ALBUM OUT APRIL 22 ON SADDLE CREEK (U.S.), MAY 5 ON MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES (UK)

Third New York And Second Los Angeles Shows Added By Popular Demand
Following on one of the most well received 16 minutes of music in recent history (2006’s A Lesson In Crime EP), Ontario’s favorite sons TOKYO POLICE CLUB now confirm the release date(s) of their first full-length album, Elephant Shell as April 22 on Saddle Creek in North America and May 5 on Memphis Industries in the UK.

Tokyo Police Club was formed in 2005 by David Monks (vocals, bass), Josh Hook (guitar), Graham Wright (keyboards), and Greg Alsop (drums). Released shortly thereafter, the aforementioned debut EP immediately elicited raves from Entertainment Weekly (”We can hardly wait for the full length” A-), Rolling Stone (”If only all young guitar bands were smart enough to rock out this fast”), Interview, Blender, and Nylon among others. Since then, TPC has been touring virtually non-stop, pausing only to release last year’s Smith EP and digital-only single “Your English Is Good,” and of course to record Elephant Shell.

The complete track listing for Elephant Shell is: “Centennial,” “In A Cave,” “Graves,” “Juno,” “Tessellate,” “Sixties Remake,” “The Harrowing Adventures Of…,” “Nursery Academy,” “Your English Is Good,” “Listen To The Math,” “The Baskervilles”.

Demand for Tokyo Police Club’s recently announced dates has resulted in the addition of second and third shows in the Los Angeles and New York areas, respectively. See below for all confirmed North American dates. This extensive tour will be followed by a UK/Europe run beginning in late May.

JIMMY EAT WORLD ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR DATES WITH FOO FIGHTERS

Paste described the new album as “sophisticated, toothsome power pop”, and Harp declared that “if modern rock radio doesn’t spend the next year milking Chase This Light for hits, it’s not the band’s fault.”

THE MARS VOLTA JANUARY 2008 TOUR DATES ANNOUCED

The Bedlam In Goliath Out Jan. 29, 2008 On Universal

“‘Wax Simulacra’ bursts open with wild, ascending guitars and erratic soprano vocals· If this is the band’s version of calm, we can’t wait for the storm”- ROLLING STONE
Following up on the recent announcement of their New Years Eve headline extravaganza at the Bill Graham Civic in San Francisco, The Mars Volta have confirmed their first dates of 2008, beginning Jan. 9 in Burlington VT and running up to just before the Jan. 29 release date of their new The Bedlam In Goliath.
The first of the shows to go on sale will be January 14th at New York City’s Terminal 5, tickets for which will be available beginning TOMORROW, December 8th at 12 Noon at www.ticketmaster.com/artist/874545. The remaining shows go on sale the weekend of December 15th.

Like previous Mars Volta efforts De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute, The Bedlam In Goliath is a thematically linked whole, the songs chapters in a bigger story, inspired by real people, places and events. The Bedlam In Goliath chronicles The Mars Volta’s time with the “Soothsayer” a/k/a the Ouija board owned by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and its mutation from a source of amusement during the tour supporting the band’s Amputechture album into a malevolent psycho-spiritual force that nearly tore the group apart, collectively and individually.

The Mars Volta was formed by guitarist/producer/arranger Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and lyricist/vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and issued its first recorded work, the Tremulant EP in 2002. The band has since released three full-length albums, De-Loused In The Comatorium (2003), Frances The Mute (2005)–both of which have been certified gold–and Amputechture (2006). The Bedlam In Goliath will be The Mars Volta’s fourth studio album. Like Frances The Mute and Amputechture, it was produced by the band’s own Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

The full January itinerary is as follows:
January 9th – Burlington, VT – Higher Ground
January 11th – New Haven, CT – Toad’s Place
January 12th – Providence, RI – Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel
