MPL and Polygram Entertainment, the film and television division of Universal Music Group, today announced a feature documentary that explores Paul McCartney’s extraordinary life following the breakup of The Beatles and how the love he shared with Linda McCartney influenced a journey that would lead to the formation of Wings and more of the greatest music ever created.

The film, drawing on unprecedented access to a never-before-seen archive of Paul and Linda’s home videos and photos, as well as new interviews, will be directed by Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, Won’t You Be My Neighbor), with producers Michele Anthony, David Blackman, Neville, Caitrin Rogers and Scott Rodger and Ben Chappell from MPL. MAN ON THE RUN is fully financed by MPL & Polygram Entertainment and presented and produced by MPL, Polygram Entertainment and Tremolo Productions.

MAN ON THE RUN begins with Paul McCartney navigating the aftermath of the break-up of The Beatles, facing down myriad challenges while creating new music that would ultimately become the defining soundtrack of a new decade.

The documentary chronicles the arc of Paul’s peerless solo career: From the one-man-band lo-fi recording prototype of his self-titled solo debut, to the pastoral bliss of RAM, to the formation of Wings and its classic albums including Band On The RunVenus And MarsAt The Speed Of SoundWings Over AmericaLondon Town and more. The result is an intimate and personal behind the scenes account of how Paul progressed from The Beatles’ 1966 retirement from live concerts to the Wings tours that would set the standard for 1970s arena rock shows.

Overall, MAN ON THE RUN is the definitive document of Paul’s emergence from the dissolution of the world’s biggest band, and his triumphant creation of a second decade of musical milestones—a brilliant and prolific stretch that gave us “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “Another Day,” “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey,” “Hi, Hi, Hi,” “My Love,” “Live And Let Die,” “Band On The Run,” “Jet,” “Junior’s Farm,” “Listen To What The Man Said,” “Silly Love Songs,” “Let ‘Em In,” “Mull Of Kintyre,” “With A Little Luck,” “Goodnight Tonight” and so many more. It’s a unique and in-depth look into a crucial period in the singular life of one of history’s most important recording artists, songwriters and performers.

From Academy Award-winning director Morgan Neville, comes MAN ON THE RUN, a documentary with unprecedented access to never-before-seen archive and new interviews, which will provide an intimate look at the life and music of Paul McCartney in the aftermath of The Beatles.

Michele Anthony: “At its heart, this is a story of Linda and Paul’s enduring love and an artist finding his own voice after being in the most historic music group ever. Our film traces one of the most incredibly creative periods of Paul’s life which spawned a vital and legendary body of work that continues to impact people and culture in every corner of the globe. We are honored to present this story with unprecedented access to a treasure trove of material from Paul and Linda’s personal archive.”

Morgan Neville: “As a lifelong obsessive of all things McCartney, I’ve always felt that the 1970s were the great under-examined part of his story. I’m thrilled to have the chance to explore and reappraise this crucial moment in a great artist’s life and work.”

Metal Myths, the esteemed show that explores the histories and mysteries of the world’s most extreme bands, has confirmed the first ever pop-up event in its storied history, Ghost—Reverence & Resurrection.

For one night only on Wednesday, February 1 at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go, Metal Myths Presents: Ghost—Reverence & Resurrection will pay unique and extensive tribute to the classic 1969 era of Ghost.

From 4pm until well into the evening, Ghost fans will have the rare opportunity to behold and worship artifacts from the short lived but massively influential 1969 iteration of Ghost. Long unseen and never before publicly displayed, these artifacts will include:

Ghost’s 1969 costumes and ghoul masks on the very same Whisky A Go Go stage where the band performed its now-legendary September 13, 1969 show.

Rare magazine covers, the only surviving remnants of the mainstream music press coverage of Ghost from that era.

A veritable treasure trove of ephemera on display for the first and possibly only time.

Ghost—Reverence & Resurrection will also offer attendees the opportunity to pick up exclusive merchandise and other surprises, including an advance chance to purchase the much anticipated purple vinyl reissue of Ghost’s 1969 7-inch Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, featuring “Kiss the Go Goat” and the song that would land Ghost its first spot on the Billboard Hot 100 decades after its original release, “Mary on a Cross.”

For one day and one day only, Ghost’s legacy will be on display for all who wish to step back in time and walk through the history of this one of a kind band.

Fresh off a world tour playing to over 1.5 million delighted fans across 24 countries, Gorillaz are kicking off 2023 with the highly anticipated release of brand new track ‘Silent Running ft. Adeleye Omotayo’. Listen here

‘Silent Running ft. Adeleye Omotayo’ is taken from the band’s upcoming new studio album Cracker Island and was the first track worked on by Gorillaz and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter extraordinaire Greg Kurstin at his studio in Los Angeles last year. Those early sessions revealed an evocative synth-led ‘80’s sound that ultimately set the tone for the album sonically. ‘Silent Running’ features vocalist and long-time Gorillaz performer Adeleye Omotayo, and has what Albarn describes as “… that sort of mesmerising dreamlike state you get in when you’re just following some train of thought.”

Gorillaz frontman 2D added – “Sometimes I get well lost and end up in the wrong place but then it turns out that’s where I was meant to be going anyway.”

The new single release comes ahead of an epic music video for ‘Silent Running ft Adeleye Omotayo’, directed by artist and Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and the Emmy-nominated Nexus Studios director, Fx Goby, coming to a screen near you soon. Watch trailer here

Gorillaz will return to North America this Spring, with a full live band performance – to include surprise guests – at Coachella on Friday the 14th and Friday the 21st of April 2023.

The brand new studio album from Gorillaz titled Cracker Island is out February 24th, 2023 on Warner Records.

“IMPERA was my favorite rock album of 2022… I found out along the way that Tobias is a bit of a fan of DL, so I guess it was inevitable we’d both find out about each other! Once we’d been introduced to the idea of working together it just snowballed organically and I’m thrilled that I got to sing on what is my favorite song from that album!”—Joe Elliott

Look what you’ve done to this rock n roll clown… Ghost’s “Spillways” has undergone a transfiguration to include guest vocals from rock legend and avowed Ghost fan Joe Elliott of Def Leppard. To hear this new facet of this “sweetly constructed rock tune” (The New York Times) from Ghost’s American Music Award-winning IMPERA, go to https://i.ghost-official.com/spillwaysDL

To witness Joe Elliott’s phantasmagorical journey into the world of Ghost, open Chapter 15: Meanwhile in Dublin. The newest installment in Ghost’s long running series of webisodes, Chapter 15 documents a karaoke session that goes awry in spectacular and supernatural fashion (and if you’re feeling like singing along, check out the “Spillways (ft. Joe Elliott)” lyric video at https://i.ghost-official.com/SpillwaysDLVid).

The original version of “Spillways,” currently Top 5 at Active Rock Radio and having generated some 50 million streams globally, can be found on Ghost’s IMPERA. Released March 11, 2022, IMPERA has moved nearly 500,000 albums worldwide, won the American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album 2022, and received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Metal Performance (“Call Me Little Sunshine”). Best of 2022 accolades included Ghost landing at #1 on Spotify’s Best of Kickass Metal 2022, while cover stories in Revolver and Metal Hammer proclaimed IMPERA #1 Album of 2022 and Loudwire has named Ghost 2022 Artist of the Year. As Consequence noted in its Top Metal & Hard Rock Albums of 2022 roundup, “Few rock bands are as grand and ambitious-sounding as Ghost nowadays.” With all of the above plus the 70 date IMPERATOUR that saw the Wall Street Journal anoint Ghost “the next generation of arena stars” and an iHeartRadio Awards 2023 nomination for Rock Artist of the Year, that ambition is primed to take the band to further and unforeseen heights in 2023.

1964: Eyes of the Storm Photographs and Reflections by Paul McCartney Out June 13th

1964: Eyes of the Storm

Photographs and Reflections by Paul McCartney

Publishing June 13th
With additional essays by Jill Lepore, Nicholas Cullinan
and Rosie Broadley

In 2020, an extraordinary trove of nearly a thousand photographs taken by Paul McCartney on a 35mm camera was re-discovered in his archive. They intimately record the months towards the end of 1963 and beginning of 1964 when Beatlemania erupted in the UK and, after the band’s first visit to the USA, they became the most famous people on the planet. The photographs are McCartney’s personal record of this explosive time, when they, The Beatles, were inside looking out and were the ‘Eyes of the Storm’.

1964: Eyes of the Storm presents 275 of McCartney’s photographs from the six cities of these intense, legendary months – Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami – and many never-before-seen portraits of John, George and Ringo. In his Foreword and Introductions to these city portfolios, McCartney remembers ‘what else can you call it – pandemonium’ and conveys his impressions of Britain and America in 1964 – the moment when the culture changed and the Sixties really began.

“Anyone who rediscovers a personal relic or family treasure is instantly flooded with memories and emotions, which then trigger associations buried in the haze of time. This was exactly my experience in seeing these photos, all taken over an intense three-month period of travel, culminating in February 1964. It was a wonderful sensation to be plunged right back. Here was my own record of our first huge trip, a photographic journal of The Beatles in six cities, beginning in Liverpool and London, followed by Paris (where John and I had been ordinary hitchhikers three years before), and then what we regarded as the big time, our first visit as a group to America”

2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee and eight-time Grammy-winner Beck has traveled light years from his emergence as a reluctant generational spokesperson when “Loser” exploded into a ubiquitous 1994 smash. Beck’s singular vision has since seen him utilize all manners and eras of music, blazing a path into the future while foraging through the past.

Surfacing just as mainstream and alternative intersected, no small thanks to his 1994 debut Mellow Gold, Beck quickly confounded expectations with subsequent releases including the lo-fi folk of One Foot in the Grave and 1996’s multi-platinum Odelay—which has remained a cultural touchstone for generations.

Beck’s creative evolution has always progressed at an exponential rate.  From the atmospherics of 1998’s Mutations and the fluorescent funk of 1999’s Midnite Vultures, the somber reflections of 2002’s Sea Change, 2005’s tour de force Guero and 2006’s sprawling The Information, 2008’s acclaimed Modern Guilt, 2014’s Album of the Year Grammy-winning Morning Phase, the “euphoric blast of experimental pop” (Rolling Stone) that was 2017’s Colors and his 2019 “best in a decade” (People) Hyperspace… No Beck record has ever sounded like its predecessor — though The New York Times notes a consistent thread: “Though Beck’s records through the years have tended toward maximalism, a kind of meticulous sonic gorgeousness, melody remains central to his art.”

72 SEASONS OUT APRIL 14, 2023

M72 WORLD TOUR 2023-2024
SINGLE DAY TICKETS ON SALE TODAY AT
METALLICA.COM

Metallica has unveiled a second glimpse into the intensity and expanse of its forthcoming 12th studio album, 72 Seasons, in the form of “Screaming Suicide.” The newly released album track is now available to stream and download, and as an instant grat with all 72 Seasons pre-orders—as well as a video directed by Tim Saccenti, which can be seen here.

“Screaming Suicide addresses the taboo word of suicide,” says James Hetfield. “The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It’s ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it’s a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.”

“Screaming Suicide” follows in the path blazed by “Lux Æterna” — the album’s first single and video, hailed upon its November 28, 2022 release as “thundering, breakneck” (Billboard), “gut-punching” (Rolling Stone) and “blistering” (USA Today). 72 Seasons will be released April 14 via Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track 72 Seasons is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. The album will be released in formats including 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited edition variants, CD and digital—for a full listing of configurations, pre-orders and further information, go to metallica.com/72-seasons-info.

Today also marks the on-sale of single day tickets to all shows on Metallica’s M72 world tour at ticketmaster.com. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, M72 will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and more. For further information on single day and two day tickets, enhanced experiences and more, go to Metallica Tour

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

Today marks the release of Iggy Pop’s feverishly anticipated new album EVERY LOSER on Atlantic Records/Gold Tooth Records. Hailed by the likes of NEW YORK, ESQUIRE and the ASSOCIATED PRESS as one of the new year’s most eagerly awaited releases, EVERY LOSER has been preceded by “buzz-bombing, hard-riffing rock” (NEW YORK TIMES) “Frenzy,” and more recently “Strung Out Johnny.”

Iggy Pop has also been confirmed as musical guest on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! Monday, January 9th. Iggy’s return to late night TV will feature the televised debut of his new band the Losers, featuring Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, and Josh Klinghoffer.

Iggy recently confirmed four live dates spanning the west coast. Kicking off in Los Angeles on April 20, the Godfather of Punk’s raw power will be in full force as he performs tracks off his 19th solo album.

These limited dates include stops at Los Angeles’ Regent Theater and Hollywood Palladium, San Francisco’s Masonic Theater, and Las Vegas’ The Pearl, and will mark the touring debut of Iggy Pop & The Losers.

Tickets are on sale now at iggypop.com. See below for all announced dates.

EVERY LOSER is Iggy’s first album to be released via the recently announced partnership between Atlantic Records and Gold Tooth Records, the new label founded by the album’s GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum executive producer, Andrew Watt.

Featuring a murderers’ row of modern day rock icons including the Iggy Pop & The Losers lineup of Watt, McKagan and Smith, EVERY LOSER sets Iggy’s lyrical aggressions toward physical and existential nemeses atop a rock solid foundation provided by members of Blink 182 (Travis Barker), Foo Fighters (Taylor Hawkins), Guns N’ Roses (Duff McKagan), Jane’s Addiction (Chris Chaney, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery), Pearl Jam (Josh Klinghoffer, Stone Gossard) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (Klinghoffer, Chad Smith). The result is 11 songs by the man who refused to go gently into that good night on Free, and is once again charging fearlessly at life itself on EVERY LOSER.
