Preceded by the just-released “If Darkness Had a Son”, the “Towering, imposing, unbreakably fortified” (Revolver) new track “Screaming Suicide” and first single “Lux Æterna” — hailed upon its November 28, 2022 release as “thundering, breakneck” (Billboard), “gut-punching” (Rolling Stone) and “blistering” (USA Today) — 72 Seasons will be released April 14 via Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track 72 Seasons is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. The album will be released in 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited-edition variants, CD digital, and in Dolby Atmos (streaming where available). PRAISE FOR CRACKER ISLAND

“’Cracker Island’ is Gorillaz’s most purely pleasurable LP yet… this is Gorillaz’ tightest LP, and yet its sense of purpose gives Albarn some room to breathe, to sing and sigh and weave little melancholy melodies about our ‘cracked-screen world’…”
Rolling Stone

“Far-flung musical genres swirl like the flavors in a rainbow sorbet.”
New York Magazine / Vulture

“Gorillaz’s musical mastermind, Damon Albarn, continues turning out slinky, compellingly original pop hits…”
San Francisco Chronicle

“Eight albums in, Gorillaz are still capable of producing a fresh, rich album that spans genres and moods, with so many different textures and sonic fabrics that they have cultivated a musical universe of their own. Long live Damon Albarn and Gorillaz.”
CONSEQUENCE

“Out of this world… The sonic wonderland of Gorillaz just continues to grow, and it’s delightful to let them whisk us away.”
Rolling Stone UK

“Cracker Island” proves (Gorillaz’) capacity for reinvention and genius has not waned, nor does it look likely to…”
Dork Magazine

“’Cracker Island’ looms into view as their most focused collection… in years.”

“[Cracker Island] …reveals itself as that most prosaic of things: a fantastic pop album.”
THE GUARDIAN

The wait is over for Gorillaz fans around the world. Cracker Island – the brand new album from the biggest virtual band on the planet – finally dropped today.  Listen here.

Cracker Island is the eighth studio album from Gorillaz, an energetic, upbeat,  genre-expansive collection of 10 tracks  with an evocative synth-led 80’s sound featuring yet another stellar line-up of artist collaborators: including Bad Bunny, Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bootie Brown and Beck. Recorded in London and L.A., it is produced by nine-time Grammy Award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter extraordinaire Greg Kurstin, Gorillaz and Remi Kabaka Jr.

It’s been a virtual and real world whirlwind since the first taste of Cracker Island arrived with title track ‘Cracker Island ft Thundercat’ dropping in June last year. The band followed up this “…blissed-out groove” (New York Times) with a further hint of things to come when Damon Albarn and the Gorillaz live band performed album track ‘New Gold ft. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown’ live to a sold-out crowd of ecstatic fans at London’s All Points East Festival in August. Gorillaz World Tour 2022 saw the band bring their spectacular mixture of music and circus across 55 shows in 24 countries for over 1.5 million fans; the band shared two epic hit videos for ‘Silent Running ft. Adeleye Omotayo‘ and ‘Cracker Island ft. Thundercat‘ both directed by artist and Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and the Emmy-nominated Nexus Studios director, Fx Goby. Gorillaz collected the Best Alternative Award at the MTV EMA’s in Düsseldorf and December saw Gorillaz revolutionize the very concept of musical performance to transform the streets of New York and London into stages for two larger-than-life ground-breaking world’s first geo-spatial AR performances of their track ‘Skinny Ape’, watch it here!

With Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel relocating to Silver Lake, California, their new mansion home in the hills proved to be the perfect base from which to recruit new members to join ‘The Last Cult’. The group of musical misfits have kept delighted fans updated on their latest series of misadventures: The Great Leader AKA Murdoc fell in love with the lady next door and bottled as his own Divine Essence. Russel was glued to the TV in an effort to salvage some meaning from the static and save humanity, while Noodle set about compiling a handbook of wisdom and knowledge. 2D kept busy being 2D. All the while barrelling towards a prophesized day of reckoning called The Rupture.

Drummer Russel Hobbs said – “Cracker Island is a 70s love letter to LA. Corduroy, big hair, pool parties, a different time when today was still a thousand tomorrows off. Sit back and party like it’s 1979.”

Murdoc said – “Every Gorillaz album is its own universe, behold our latest creation! Am I the all-powerful being at the centre of that universe? Listen and decide for yourself!”

Guitarist Noodle added – “A trip through many worlds, when I look back it already seems like some weird dream from another place and time.”

And 2D mused – “Apart from nearly being sacrificed in a cult ceremony I really enjoyed making this album.”

Gorillaz will return to North America this Spring, with a full live band performance – to include surprise guests – at Coachella on Friday April 14th and Friday April 21st 2023. Before heading out to that other desert for their highly anticipated, must-see Coachella performance, Gorillaz will bring Cracker Island to Las Vegas, where they’ll play a rare, intimate one-off show Wednesday April 12th at Zappos Theater.

Raise the alarm! Murdoc Niccals is returning to live broadcast! This time, join him to usher in the new album with an exclusive listening party on YouTube on Tuesday 28th Feb at 5pm GMT.  Don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Paul McCartney and Wings
Red Rose Speedway

50th Anniversary Limited Edition Vinyl Album To Be Released Record Store Day April 22, 2023

UMe proudly announces the release of Paul McCartney and Wings’ Red Rose Speedway as a limited edition half-speed mastered vinyl LP. The 50th Anniversary pressing will be available from April 22 for Record Store Day 2023, days before the actual anniversary of the album’s original April 30, 1973 release date.

The first Paul McCartney and Wings album to top the US album chart, Red Rose Speedway kicked off a run of #1 albums that included Band On The RunVenus And MarsAt The Speed Of Sound and Wings Over America. The album’s sole single, “My Love,” was received with similar warmth, becoming Wings’ first #1 single in the US, as well as a staple of Wings and Paul shows for decades to come.

Red Rose Speedway has steadily grown in stature amongst fans, critics and fellow musicians since its April 1973 release. Album opener “Big Barn Bed” has been cited as one of Paul’s greatest underrated tracks by the likes of Guitar World and Ultimate Classic Rock, while “My Love” has spawned a staggering array of cover versions by artists including Tony Bennett, Brenda Lee, Nancy Wilson, Cass Elliot, Johnny Gill, Cher and many more. More recently, “Little Lamb Dragonfly” was singled out in 2022 by USA Today as “enchanting,” and by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott in Stereogum’s 80 Artists Pick Their Favorite Paul McCartney Song… roundup: “You know a song has made an impression if you can rewind to a place and a smell and the weather and you get these phantom images of where you think he played the song. For an acoustic type of song, it has everything.”

Following the rapturous reception to their new single “Ghosts Again,” Depeche Mode have added a new Fall leg of North American tour dates to the Memento Mori Tour, which will support Memento Mori, their forthcoming studio album due out March 24. With the addition of these 29 new shows, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees will now set out on a colossal 75-date tour — their 19th tour and their first in over five years.

The Live Nation-presented tour begins March 23 with a limited North American run featuring stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Chicago’s United Center, and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. The band will then embark on their European stadium tour on May 16, with noted stops including the Stade de France in Paris, Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, Milan’s San Siro Stadium, and London’s Twickenham Stadium.

Newly announced tour stops include Austin’s Moody Center, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, additional New York City shows at Madison Square Garden and Barclay’s Center, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena and more, and concluding with a multi-night run in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum and Crypto.com Arena.

Reception to the Memento Mori tour has been overwhelming with shows quickly selling out across Europe and North America, and over 1.5 million tickets already sold for the initial 46 shows. The tour is on track to be one of Depeche Mode’s largest to date and is also well on its way to being one of the largest worldwide tours of 2023. The tour will feature Depeche Mode favorites and rarities, alongside new songs from Memento Mori, including the new single ”Ghosts Again,” which has been heralded as “a melancholic and joyful ode” (Vulture), “hypnotic” (Rolling Stone), and “a gorgeous, haunting song” (Revolver). The beautifully stark and cinematic Anton Corbijn-directed video for “Ghosts Again” released on February 9th can be viewed at https://depechemode.lnk.to/GhostsAgain

Having sold more than 100 million records and played to more than 35 million fans worldwide, Depeche Mode remains an ever-evolving and singularly influential musical force. GHOST ANNOUNCES RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023

GHOST ANNOUNCES RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023

Citi and Artist Presales Begin Tuesday, February 14th

Tickets On Sale To General Public Friday, February 17th at 10AM Local on Ticketmaster.com

For approved artist images and hi-res tour art, please download HERE.

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation & FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the “euphoric spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had “conquered metal and the charts” when its fifth album IMPERA debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a “sweetly constructed rock tune” by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” — IMPERA finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee Prequelle—or as ROLLING STONE put it, “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of IMPERA’s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making IMPERA a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with a Citi cardmember presale (details below) and Artist presale on Tuesday, February 14th. Additional presales will be available throughout the week before the general on sale starting Friday, February 17th at 10am local time on Ticketmaster.com.

BECK: “THINKING ABOUT YOU” NEW SINGLE OUT NOW

BECK
“THINKING ABOUT YOU”
NEW SINGLE
OUT NOW
APPEARING ON JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! FEBRUARY 16

This morning just got a bit less cloudy, thanks to Beck’s bittersweet new standalone single, “Thinking About You.”

The first new original Beck song to be released since his universally acclaimed, GRAMMY-winning Hyperspace album, “Thinking About You” is a sublime dose of undiluted elemental Beck. A heart-tugging ballad in the tradition of classics Morning Phase and Sea Change—and incidentally recorded in the very same room as the latter—“Thinking About You” finds Beck’s wistful vocal and acoustic guitar tones accompanied by Blake Mills (guitar, mandolin), Justin Meldal Johnsen (bass) and Roger Manning (keyboards).

“Thinking About You” will have its network TV debut when Beck appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live! February 16.

“Thinking About You” drops on the eve of a busy touring year for Beck. His upcoming 2023 live calendar begins with a trio of stripped down acoustic performances in Australia, includes appearances at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday shows at the Hollywood Bowl and the High Water Festival in North Charleston SC, and is rounded out by his highly anticipated North American co-headline tour with Phoenix.

See below for a full list of dates, and check back at Beck.com for updates.

DEPECHE MODE: “GHOSTS AGAIN” FIRST SINGLE & VIDEO FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM, MEMENTO MORI

Depeche Mode

“Ghosts Again”

First Single & Video From Forthcoming Album Out Now

Memento Mori To Be Released March 24, 2023

Depeche Mode has confirmed the release date of its eagerly anticipated new album, Memento Mori, which will be released March 24 via Columbia Records.

Memento Mori’s arrival is heralded by today’s release of first single “Ghosts Again.” Having been stealthily previewed in Berlin in October at the Memento Mori launch event, “Ghosts Again” is nothing short of classic Depeche Mode: Evocative Dave Gahan lyrical imagery including “wasted feelings, broken meanings… a place to hide the tears we cry” and a hypnotic Martin Gore guitar figure atop an uplifting, optimistic groove. “Ghosts Again” is available now across digital platforms, and as an instant grat with pre-saves and pre-orders of Memento Mori – which is available for pre-order now on 2LP vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital.

“To me, ‘Ghosts Again’ just captures this perfect balance of melancholy and joy,” commented Gahan. Gore added, “It’s not often that we record a song that I just don’t get sick of listening to – I’m excited to be able to share it.”

“Ghosts Again” has been visually interpreted by longtime Depeche Mode collaborator
and Memento Mori album cover and artwork designer Anton Corbijn. Corbijn’s sublime
rendering of the song in stark yet rich monochrome tones can be seen HERE

Memento Mori is Depeche Mode’s 15th studio album and its first as a two-piece lineup of Gahan and Gore, following co-founder Andrew “Fletch” Fletcher’s tragic passing in 2022. Produced by James Ford, with additional production work by Marta Salogni, Memento Mori’s gestation took place during the early stages of the Covid pandemic, resulting in themes inspired directly by that period. The album’s 12 tracks chart a vast expanse of moods and textures, from its ominous opening to its closing resolve—running the gamut from paranoia and obsession to catharsis and joy, and hitting myriad points between. The complete track listing for Memento Mori is:

My Cosmos Is Mine
Wagging Tongue
Ghosts Again
Don’t Say You Love Me
My Favourite Stranger
Soul With Me
Caroline’s Monkey
Before We Drown
People Are Good
Always You
Never Let Me Go
Speak To Me

As previously announced, The Memento Mori Tour will coincide with the album’s release. The Live Nation-presented tour — Depeche Mode’’s first in over five years and 19th overall — kicks off March 23rd with a special, limited series of North American arena dates featuring stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Chicago’s United Center, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, among others. The band will then begin their European stadium tour on May 16th, including dates at the Stade de France in Paris, Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, Milan’s San Siro Stadium, and London’s Twickenham Stadium. Due to popular demand, shows have been added in several markets —  for further information, please go to depechemode.com. The full listing of dates, cities and venues is also below.

Having sold more than 100 million records and played to more than 35 million fans worldwide, Depeche Mode remains an ever-evolving and singularly influential musical force. An indelible inspiration to fans, critics and artists alike, Depeche Mode continues to forge ahead, with the Memento Mori album and tour representing the opening of the newest chapter of a peerless and ongoing legacy.

GORILLAZ: ACTION-PACKED NEW VIDEO FOR ‘SILENT RUNNING ft. Adeleye Omotayo’ OUT NOW

GORILLAZ

ACTION-PACKED NEW VIDEO FOR

‘SILENT RUNNING ft. Adeleye Omotayo’

WATCH IT NOW !

NEW STUDIO ALBUM CRACKER ISLAND
COMING FEBRUARY 24th 2023

Watch the late night misadventures of the world’s biggest virtual band unfold as Murdoc, Noodle and Russel solve the mystery of 2D’s disappearance, in the epic new music video for ‘Silent Running ft Adeleye Omotayo.’ Directed by artist and Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and Emmy-nominated Nexus Studios director, Fx Goby. Watch here.

The “…mid-tempo funk gem” ‘Silent Running’ is the “…slinky new song” (Rolling Stone) taken from the band’s soon-to-released brand new studio album, and features vocalist and long-time Gorillaz collaborator Adeleye Omotayo.

The ‘Silent Running’ video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop and on the Paramount Times Square billboards.

Originally based at Kong Studios in West London, early last year the group of musical misfits relocated to Silver Lake, California where their new mansion home in the hills proved to be the perfect base from which to recruit new members to join ‘The Last Cult’. Early reports from the Golden State indicated that The Great Leader AKA Murdoc is not only in love with the lady next door, but has a new scent, bottled as his own Divine Essence. Russel is glued to the TV in an effort to salvage some meaning from the static and save humanity, while Noodle is compiling a handbook of wisdom and knowledge. 2D is busy being 2D. With the band in search of the One Truth to fix the world (and Murdoc out to impress his neighbor), they are barrelling towards a prophesized day of reckoning called The Rupture. What this is, and the fate of the band itself, is revealed in the new ‘Silent Running’ video.

“So today is the new tomorrow?” asked Gorillaz drummer Russel Hobbs.

Murdoc Niccals said “Well, chuffing hell! What an emotional roller-coaster ride that was! I can see the headlines now: “Murdoc’s Bathwater Saves Humanity!” Always the plan tbh, just kept it under my hat until the big finish.”

Noodle added “The shadow of time is always following us. Nothing is forever. Those who fight it are doomed to lose.”

The original psychedelic video for title track ‘Cracker Island ft. Thundercat’ – which none of the band remember filming – took viewers on a late night journey into the City of Angels in a delirium of police lights and hallucinations, with Murdoc telling us to – “Think of it as the final scene in the movie, the bit after the grand finale when the hero (me) is about to stride into the sunset, credits rolling. That’s right, we’re starting at the end. Why? COS I WORK IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS.”  Watch it again HERE

Gorillaz will make a live return to North America this Spring to play Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Friday 14th and Friday 21st April 2023.

The brand new studio album from Gorillaz titled Cracker Island is out February 24th 2023 on Warner Records.

METALLICA’S ALL WITHIN MY HANDS FOUNDATION

HELPING HANDS CONCERT & AUCTION RAISES $3,000,000

THE METALLICA BLACKLIST FIRST ROUND OF CHARITABLE DONATIONS EXCEEDS $1,000,000

Metallica and its All Within My Hands foundation ended 2022 on a deafening high note, as its third Helping Hands Concert & Auction raised approximately $3,000,000—100% of which will go directly to All Within My Hands’ efforts supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, disaster relief and other critical local services.

Taking place December 16, 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the Helping Hands benefit event was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and streamed live on Paramount+. Leaders from six non-profit organizations took the stage between sets from Greta Van Fleet, a guest appearance from St. Vincent, and the hosts of the evening, Metallica, who were introduced by none other than Robert Downey Jr.

“The funds raised from the Helping Hands Concert & Auction will have a lasting impact on All Within My Hands’ ability to grow our Metallica Scholars Initiative, combat hunger, and aid in response to natural disasters,” said Peter Delgrosso, Executive Director, All Within My Hands. “The Los Angeles event was the largest fundraiser in our history, and we profoundly appreciate the generosity of everyone involved. We could not have achieved these results otherwise.”

As part of the Helping Hands Concert & Auction, All Within My Hands honored several mission-aligned organizations and provided grants to each to donate additional resources, including: Baby2BabyFirst StarFeeding AmericaWorld Central KitchenmikeroweWorks Foundation, and The Skatepark Project.

Additionally, the first donations generated by 2021’s The Metallica Blacklist compilation have been made—totaling over $1,000,000.

Hailed upon its release as “easily the most ambitious release of its kind” (Pitchfork), The Metallica Blacklist marked the 30th anniversary of the band’s landmark self-titled fifth album a/k/a The Black Album with a staggering array of passion and talent: 50+ artists contributing unique interpretations of their favorite tracks from the album, spanning a vast range of genres, generations, cultures, continents and more. The Metallica Blacklist’s 53 tracks found singer/songwriters, country artists, electronic and hip hop artists sharing their love of these songs alongside punk rockers, indie darlings, icons of rock, metal, world music and many, many more…

All profits from The Metallica Blacklist are being divided evenly between All Within My Hands and charities chosen by the participating artists—including Happy Hippie Foundation (Miley Cyrus), Outlaw State of Kind (Chris Stapleton), RAINN (Phoebe Bridgers), Dhamma Mahavana (Weezer), Borne Cancer Fonden Denmark (Volbeat), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (J Balvin), The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation For Autism (Jon Pardi), The Special Olympics (Cage The Elephant), Save The Children (Alessia Cara + The Warning, Ha*Ash), Camp Aranutiq (Ghost), and literally dozens more.

All Within My Hands is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation formed in 2017 as a way for the entire Metallica family to give back to communities that have supported the band by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. Metallica and All Within My Hands are committed to running an organization of the highest integrity where expenses are kept to a minimum and are paid for entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years and are excited to help in this mission. 100% of proceeds from The Metallica Blacklist and the Helping Hands shows and auctions go directly to help those in need, with Metallica covering all expenses.
