RADIOHEAD MAKES 18 HOURS OF STOLEN OK COMPUTER SESSIONS AVAILABLE AT BANDCAMP

MINIDISCS [HACKED]

RADIOHEAD MAKES 18 HOURS OF STOLEN OK COMPUTER SESSIONS AVAILABLE AT BANDCAMP

In response to last week’s leak of 18 minidisc files, Radiohead has decided to make the sessions available in their entirety on Bandcamp.

“We got hacked last week – someone stole Thom’s minidisc archive from around the time of OK Computer, and reportedly demanded $150,000 on threat of releasing it.

So instead of complaining – much – or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion. Just for the next 18 days. So for £18 you can find out if we should have paid that ransom.

Never intended for public consumption (though some clips did reach the cassette in the OK Computer reissue) it’s only tangentially interesting. And very, very long. Not a phone download. Rainy out, isn’t it though?”
– Jonny Greenwood

The 18 minidiscs will be available for £18. All  proceeds will go to Extinction Rebellion, a socio-political movement which uses nonviolent resistance to protest against climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse.

Scott Johnson Inquest

The inquest into the death of our friend and crew member, Scott Johnson, has now concluded. The inquest itself was conducted in a constructive, thorough and fair-minded way. It revealed the negligence and failings that led to Scott’s death.

A verdict of accidental death was returned, which feels frustratingly insufficient given that the stage collapse was shown the be preventable. The jury have made sound and practical recommendations to prevent such an accident happening again and to ensure the future safety of show crews and audiences. It’s up to all of us now to make sure that these recommendations are implemented.

We’d like to express our gratitude to the Coroner’s Office and the Jury for their tireless work in the Inquest. Our love and respect go out to Ken and Sue Johnson, Scott’s parents. He will be forever in our thoughts.

RADIOHEAD INDUCTED INTO ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME

RADIOHEAD INDUCTED INTO ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME

The members of Radiohead have been surprised to learn of the band’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

The band thanks the Hall of Fame voting body and extends congratulations to this year’s fellow inductees.

2018 marked 25 years since the release of Radiohead’s debut album, Pablo Honey, and Radiohead’s eligibility for the Hall of Fame. Additional Radiohead albums released during the 1990s included included The Bends (1995) and OK Computer (1997), the latter being the first Radiohead record to reach #1 in the UK and to be nominated for the Album of the Year GRAMMY. In 2000, Radiohead’s fourth album, Kid A, became the strangest #1 album in U.S. chart history, and was followed by Amnesiac in 2001, Hail to the Thief in 2003, and 2007’s brilliant In Rainbows, which was also nominated for the Album of the Year GRAMMY. In 2011, Radiohead released its eighth album, The King Of Limbs, and in 2015, The National Recording Registry selected OK Computer to be preserved in the Library of Congress as a recording that has proven “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” A Moon Shaped Pool, the ninth Radiohead album, was released in 2016 to one of the most positive receptions of the band’s career. In 2017, Radiohead commemorated the 20th anniversary of OK Computer with the OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 – 2017 deluxe remaster/reissue.

STATEMENT FROM RADIOHEAD

Hello everyone,

As you will probably have heard the roof over the stage collapsed at our show in Toronto killing crew member Scott Johnson and injuring three other crew members.  The collapse also destroyed the light show – this show was unique and will take many weeks to replace. The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace.

Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with & consequently we have to try and reschedule the following shows:

June
30 Roma Hippodrome Capanelle

July
1 Firenze Parco delle Cascine
3 Bologna Arena Parco Nord
4 Codroipo Villa Manin
6 Berlin Wuhlheide
7 Berlin Wuhlhedie
9 St Triphon Carriere des Andonces

We aim to announce the new dates for these shows on Wednesday 27th of June and will also supply information on how to obtain refunds on tickets  if you cannot come to the show on the new date.

We will start playing live again at Les Arenes  Nimes, Bilbao BBK festival  and Lisbon Optimus Alive festival.

We will make every effort to offer the fans the very best show possible under the circumstances – thanks for your understanding and support.
