Philip Selway is excited to premiere the new video for the track “Around Again” off his stellar second album, Weatherhouse (Bella Union). The “Around Again” visuals retain the dreamy, mystical nature of Philip’s previous videos for “Coming Up For Air” and “It Will End In Tears”. The video, directed by the Spanish film collective NYSU, features a pivoting camera that follows a woman’s circuitous path as she leaves various items and poses in her wake, resulting in a completely altered setting. Watch the video here.

SECOND ALBUM OUT OCTOBER 7 ON BELLA UNION
With the release of his new album Weatherhouse a month away, Philip Selwayis offering fans a stream of his new single “It Will End In Tears”. The second track to be taken from his very fine return to 2010’s debut Familial, “It Will End In Tears” will be available as a free download to all of those who pre-order the new album. Check it out below:
Four years after the unexpected and exquisite treat that was Philip Selway’s debut album Familial, the man formerly known only as the drummer of Radiohead returns with his sophomore record, Weatherhouse. At ten tracks and 38 minutes, the album is as concise in shape as it is expansive in mood and assured in execution, mining a generally darker, fuller sound than its gentler, more acoustic-based predecessor and reflecting the band-centered nature of its construction and its creator’s growth in confidence.
Weatherhouse was made in collaboration with Adem Ilhan and Quinta; artists in their own right who had previously performed in Philip’s backing band. “From the outset,” Selway recalls, “we wanted the album to be the three of us, and we covered a lot of instruments between us. With a studio full of inspiring gear and a great-sounding desk, we felt like a band. Different musicians stretch you, and I felt stretched on Weatherhouse, but very enjoyably so.” Working mostly out of Radiohead’s studio in Oxfordshire, Adem also produced and engineered Weatherhouse, while Quinta played an equally integral role in the arrangements. The album was mixed by David Wrench.
Album opener “Coming Up For Air” sets the scene with its brooding, spectral mood, mantra-like pattern and Selway’s simmering, reverb-drenched vocal exploring the album’s dominant theme. “It’s very much about taking stock of my life. I wanted to convey a sense of release and affirmation,” he says. “This was the first song that we recorded. Immediately it felt in a very different space from Familial.”
The album’s talismanic qualities explore a world of hope and plans, connection and disconnection – between family, friends and self – and dreams and fears: “I love records that you can almost live in, where the songs become talismans that you take to heart. That’s what I was trying to create in Weatherhouse.” With its emotional frankness, haunting melodies and gripping tension, Selway has made a great artistic leap and created something that even the most experienced singer-songwriters would be proud of.
NEW ALBUM WEATHERHOUSE OUT OCTOBER 7 ON BELLA UNION
Philip Selway is pleased to present a beautiful new video for “Coming Up For Air,” the lead track from his forthcoming sophomore solo album,Weatherhouse. The “Coming Up For Air” video, directed by acclaimed Spanish film collective NYSU, emits a supernatural sheen as it takes place on a hazy film set filled with actors who display the importance of perspective. The camera pans in to show everything may not be as it initially appears. Selway’s airy vocals, pulsating rhythms and use of reverb add to the surreal nature of the visuals which result in an intriguing sensory experience.
Commenting on the video, Selway says: “Good videos can make you rethink the song that you’ve written. They also shine a light on what makes the track tick. NYSU have made a visually rich and intriguing piece for ‘Coming Up For Air’ which stands up in its own right, yet feels in tune with the track.”
Selway will release Weatherhouse on October 7 though Bella Union as a follow-up to his 2010 solo debut, Familial. For this new record, Selway recruited fellow artists and former backing band members Adem Ilhan and Quinta to expand the instrumentation required to create Weatherhouse. Contrary to its predecessor, Weatherhouse adopts a darker, more brooding sentiment as well as a fleshed out musical composition. The album is currently available for preorder via www.philipselway.com
