PAUL McCARTNEY: Something NEW is an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look into the creative life of the most successful artist in music history. Viacom’s hi-def music network Palladia will premiere the one-hour program on Thursday, December 5th at 9:00 PM ET. VH1 Classic will also air the special on Friday, December 13th at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Something NEW features incredible live and backstage footage shot around the world during his amazing run of shows in 2013 and documents the creation of Paul McCartney’s recently released album NEW. Rapturously received upon its October release, NEW has rightfully earned some of the best critical notices of Paul’s solo discography, including Rolling Stone placing it high in their Top 50 Albums of 2013 and raving “As Macca understands better than almost anyone, rock & roll is fueled by a hunger for good times and an ageless exuberance.”
Directed by Don Letts, whose credits include the GRAMMY-winning The Clash: Westway to the World, the program also integrates intimate footage of the actual recording process along with vivid memories and incisive reflections of Paul and the album’s star-studded production team.
There was no particular plan for Paul McCartney’s sixteenth studio album. The initial intention was to go in and demo with a handful of producers, and see who was the right fit for the full album. There is Paul Epworth, architect of Adele’s monstrously successful 21 and Mark Ronson, known for his work on Amy Winehouse’s classic recordings. And close to the family, there is Giles Martin and Ethan Johns, both celebrated producers in their own right and both sons of men renowned for their prominent roles in Paul’s previous works. “I did a lot of work with Giles’s Dad, George, in Beatles days; Glyn Johns worked with us on Let It Be and Wings stuff,” Paul says in case anyone needed reminding.
Chronicling yet another peak into Paul McCartney’s legendary career, Something NEW is a rare glimpse into his incomparable artistry, his creative process and the incredible impact his music has all over the world.

Following the release of Paul McCartney’s brand NEW album last week, the video for album track “Queenie Eye” will be premiered on VEVO tomorrow, Thursday October 24th at 12PM EST.
“Queenie Eye”, described by Q magazine as “jaw dropping”, was produced by Paul Epworth and is one of the albums many highlights. Paul played the track live in Covent Garden last week at a spontaneous pop-up show which drew in an audience of thousands. The week before saw him do the same in Times Square, New York.
The song is based on a childhood chant Paul remembers when he was growing up in Liverpool: “Queenie eye, queenie eye, who’s got the ball? It isn’t in my pocket. O-U-T spells OUT!”
Paul recalls, “It came from a street game I use to play as a kid. Those kind of things always stick with you. I always liked the rhythm of the chant”.
The video for “Queenie Eye” was filmed at Abbey Road earlier this month and was directed by Simon Aboud. Featuring a number of special guests, the video sees Paul recording the track in what he thinks is an empty studio (Studio 2). As the song develops the studio starts to fill up with people all reacting in different ways to the song and Paul is completely unaware. The video brings everybody’s personal experience into one place.

This weekend saw Paul perform NEW material live for the first time in Las Vegas at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. In an eight song set Paul premiered ‘Save Us’, New’ and ‘Everybody Out There’.
Talking about the album, Paul said: “It’s funny, when I play people the album they’re surprised it’s me. A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you’d recognise as mine. I didn’t want it to all sound the same. I really enjoyed making this album. It’s always great to get a chance to get into the studio with a bunch of new songs and I was lucky to work with some very cool producers. We had a lot of fun.”
Paul worked on the album with producers Paul Epworth, Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns and Giles Martin.
The album was recorded at Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Avatar Studios, New York; Abbey Road Studios, London; Air Studios, London; Wolf Tone Studios, London and Hog Hill Mill, East Sussex.

Boston, MA (July 10, 2013) – Live Nation New England and the Boston Red Sox are pleased to announce that last evening’s Paul McCartney 2013 “Out There” performance has set the record for the largest single concert attendance in the history of Fenway Park: 36,064 people were on hand to witness his truly historic return to the storied ballpark.
This is the second record McCartney has set at Fenway, the first being the August 5 & 6, 2009 stand that set the two-day box office record for a concert at the park.
The record setting performance featured nearly three hours of material from the most beloved catalog in popular music, with Paul McCartney performing songs spanning his entire career–as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course The Beatles.
The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For approximately three hours, many of the greatest moments of the last 50 years of musical history–not to mention the soundtracks of entire lives–are magically brought to life as only Paul can do. Last year marked 40 years since Paul’s premiere tour as a solo artist and these past four decades have seen him play in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow’s Red Square, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people and even a performance beamed into outer space! Having played with his peerless band of Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Rusty Anderson (guitar), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums) and Brian Ray (bass/guitar) for over ten years, Paul never disappoints–as The Boston Globe agreed in 2009, hailing the show as “a nearly flawless performance that played heavily to favorites while allowing him to stretch out as an artist who is obviously still vital and relevant.”
Paul has also confirmed that his all-new 2013 “Out There” tour will include a visit to Canada for three new shows–two out of three in cities Paul has never before played: On July 7, Paul will play his historic first ever show in Ottawa, at Scotiabank Place. On August 12, Paul will return to Winnipeg for the first time since his New World Tour in 1993, for one night only at Investors Group Field. Finally on August 14, Paul will make his debut in Regina, playing his first ever show in the Queen City at Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field.
As previously announced, the “Out There” tour will also be making stops May 18 and 19 in Orlando FL at Amway Center, May 22 and 23 in Austin TX at the Frank Erwin Center, May 26 in Memphis TN at FedEx Forum, May 29 and 30 in Tulsa OK at the BOK Center, June 8 and 10 in Brooklyn NY at Barclays Center, July 9 in Boston MA at Fenway Park, July 12 in Washington DC at Nationals Ballpark, July 14 in Indianapolis IN at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, July 16 in Milwaukee WI at Miller Park and July 19 in Seattle WA at Safeco Field.
Paul McCartney’s “Out There” tour will feature brand new, never before seen production and, as ever, hours of material from the most beloved catalog in popular music, with Paul performing songs spanning his entire career–as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course The Beatles.

Paul is throwing himself into 2013 with full force following yet another landmark year in 2012, which saw him conclude his record-breaking “On The Run” tour, release his Grammy-winning Kisses On The Bottom album, accept a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, play at both the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics Opening Ceremony, be named MusiCares Person of the Year, and headline 12-12-12 The Concert For Sandy Relief–to highlight just a few memorable moments. With the “Out There'” tour and a new studio album in the works, it looks like 2013 will show no signs of Paul slowing down.
The “Out There” tour will see Paul and his band travel the world throughout the year, visiting both places of historical significance to Paul and new spots for the very first time. Further announcements and dates will be added in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to www.paulmccartney.com for official news and updates.
