In the wake of the triumphant headline stand at the Austin City Limits festival that the Austin American Statesman called “A Marathon to Remember Forever,”  Paul McCartney has added yet another show to the upcoming U.S. leg of his new Freshen Up tour. The newly confirmed July 10, 2019 show at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA is the newest addition to Paul’s first extended Stateside run since the One On One Tour that played to some two million fans around the world during 2016 and 2017.
 
The Freshen Up tour is Paul’s first outing following the release of his #1 charting album, Egypt Station, released September 7th on Capitol Records to stellar reviews: Rolling Stone raved, “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth,” while Entertainment Weekly described the album as “the still-vital life force of a superstar who has been there and everywhere and is glad just to be here now.”

The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a show: Nearly three hours nightly of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. In the wake of the triumphant headline stand at the Austin City Limits festival that the Austin American Statesman called “A Marathon to Remember Forever,”  Paul McCartney has added four new stadium plays to the upcoming U.S. leg of his new Freshen Up tour. The newly confirmed dates make for a total of 12 confirmed shows on Paul’s first extended Stateside run since the One On One Tour that played to some two million fans around the world during 2016 and 2017.

The Freshen Up tour is Paul’s first outing following the release of his #1 charting album, Egypt Station, released September 7th on Capitol Records to stellar reviews: Rolling Stone raved, “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth,” while Entertainment Weekly described the album as “the still-vital life force of a superstar who has been there and everywhere and is glad just to be here now.”

The newest additions to the U.S. leg of Freshen Up include Paul’s first ever appearances at Lambeau Field in Green Bay WI on June 8th, and Globe Life Park in Arlington TX on June 14th. On June 22nd and July 13th, respectively, Paul will return to Petco Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, both of which hosted unforgettable Paul performances to capacity crowds on his 2014 Out There tour.

Today, to mark the forthcoming reissues of Paul McCartney’s 11th and 12th classic works from his revered catalogue, ‘Dear Friend’, the John Lennon-inspired closing track to Paul McCartney And Wings’ debut album ‘Wild Life’, has been made available to hear as two special instant grats. The first a remastered version, and the second a beautifully intimate unreleased home recording. The re-releases come fully remastered and expanded across multi format installments of his GRAMMY-winning Archive Collection, to be released December 7, 2018 via MPL/Capitol/UMe.

Speaking of the track, Paul comments “With ‘Dear Friend’, that’s sort of me talking to John after we’d had all the sort of disputes about The Beatles break up. I find it very emotional when I listen to it now. I have to sort of choke it back. I remember when I heard the song recently, listening to the roughs [remastering works-in-progress] in the car. And I thought, ‘Oh God’. That lyric: ‘Really truly, young and newly wed’. Listening to that was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s true!’ I’m trying to say to John, ‘Look, you know, it’s all cool. Have a glass of wine. Let’s be cool.’ And luckily we did get it back together, which was like a great source of joy because it would have been terrible if he’d been killed as things were at that point and I’d never got to straighten it out with him. This was me reaching out. So, I think it’s very powerful in some very simple way. But it was certainly heartfelt.”

Paul McCartney proudly announces the 11th and 12th classic works from his revered catalogue to be remastered, reissued and expanded across multi-format installments of his GRAMMY-winning
Archive Collection, to be released December 7, 2018 via MPL/Capitol/UMe.

First up is the four-disc (3CD, 1DVD) limited deluxe edition of Wild Life, the debut album from Wings, originally released December 1971. Written by Paul and Linda McCartney (with the exception of a
cover of Mickey & Sylvia’s ‘Love Is Strange’), Wild Life is beloved by fans for its raw and direct vibe–having been recorded in just over a week with the majority of tracks laid down in a single take. Wild
Life’s limited deluxe edition treatment features the full album remastered at Abbey Road plus 25 bonus audio tracks including rough mixes of the album, original single edits, B-sides, home
recordings and other previously unreleased material across three CDs. The set’s DVD features rare footage of acoustic home videos, rehearsals and more. The Wild Life deluxe package includes a 128-
page book written by David Fricke telling the story behind the album – including track-by-track information and new interviews with Paul and key album personnel, a 48-page scrapbook of tour diaries, lyrics and set lists, unpublished Polaroids, lyrics, notes and memorabilia from the MPL archives. Wild Life’s download redemption card will provide access to all audio in HD 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution versions.

Next up is a six-disc (3CD, 2DVD + 1Blu-ray) numbered limited deluxe edition of the second Wings album and first credited to Paul McCartney and Wings, Red Rose Speedway. Released in April 1973
and featuring the #1 single ‘My Love,’ Red Rose Speedway was the first Wings album to hit #1 on the U.S. chart. The Red Rose Speedway limited deluxe edition features three discs of audio including the original album remastered at Abbey Road, no less than 35 bonus audio tracks, including a reconstruction of the originally conceived double album version of Red Rose Speedway, singles, B-
sides, alternate mixes and previously unreleased tracks. The 2DVD + Blu-ray portions of the deluxe are packed with rare and previously unseen footage, including the James Paul McCartney TV Special,
interviews and music videos, as well as the never before seen film The Bruce McMouse Show–fully restored and remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The package includes a folio containing 14
replica hand drawn original character sketches by Paul and facsimile dialogue sheets for the film, a 128-page book containing many previously unpublished images by Linda McCartney, expanded
album and single artwork from the archives and story behind the album — including new interviews with Paul McCartney, and key album personnel — and track-by-track information, written by
Amanda Petrusich, five replica handwritten lyric sheets and photo print, a 64-page ‘Wings In Morocco’ photo book, all housed in a numbered outer slipcase. The Red Rose Speedway download
redemption card will provide access to all audio in HD 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution versions.

Finally, the 11-disc Paul McCartney and Wings 1971–73 numbered limited edition super deluxe compilation features not only the entire contents of the Wild Life four-disc numbered limited deluxe
edition and of the Red Rose Speedway 6-disc numbered limited deluxe edition—but also the exclusive live album, Wings Over Europe. This exclusive collection features 20 previously unreleased, newly mixed live tracks recorded over the course of 5 shows, an introduction featuring Paul recounting memories of the 1972 tour, a 96-page photo book including previously unreleased images by Linda McCartney and Captain Snap, a replica of the 1972 Wings Over Europe tour program, and access to downloadable 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution audio versions.

The Paul McCartney Archive Collection debuted with the November 2, 2010 re-release of Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1973 milestone Band on the Run, which won the 2010 GRAMMY Award for Best Historical Album, while the Archive Collection’s Deluxe Edition Box Set of the 1976 classic Wings Over America took the 2013 GRAMMY for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. The most recent previous installment was 2017’s reissue of Paul’s eighth studio album Flowers In The Dirt, which ROLLING STONE called “spectacular…  an extraordinary document,” and the OBSERVER hailed as “perhaps the greatest record to emerge from the world of AOR in 1989… an absolute pleasure to rediscover today.”

Every release in the ongoing Paul McCartney Archive Collection is supervised by Paul himself, who oversees all aspects of each and every title from remastering to the curation of lost tracks, outtakes,

“Come On To Me” (Official Video)

Over the past week, Paul has introduced us to three nightshift workers who all share a love of dancing to ‘Come On To Me’, the latest track to be taken from his new studio album ‘Egypt Station’ (Capitol Records).

We’ve met Fred “Little Freddie” Maxwell (#COTMTeamFred) who loves hijacking the in-store sound system at the department store where he works as a security guard; Ali Almohri (#COTMTeamAli) who works at his family’s food truck hoping that one day the young woman he has a crush on will notice he’s looking for more than just casual conversation; and Elsa Morales (#COTMTeamElsa) who works two jobs to support her family whilst still managing to radiate good energy and be the epitome of positivity.

Paul McCartney’s Egypt Station (Capitol Records) has entered the Billboard 200 at #1, making it the third Non-Beatles/Wings McCartney effort to top the U.S. chart and Paul’s first Stateside #1 since 1982’s Tug Of War. Earning  153,000 equivalent album units, Egypt Station is Paul’s first solo album to enter the chart at #1. Explaining the album’s concept, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’… I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.” The title is taken from the piece of art featured on the cover, which Paul painted in 1988.

Egypt Station has won praise from critics around the world. In a four-star lead review, Rolling Stonesaid,  “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… (And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth.)” London’s Sunday Times, Q Magazine and MOJO also awarded the album four stars.

The New York Times’ Jon Pareles observed, “McCartney contemplates mortality and pain while still trying to offer love and strength.”  TIME declared Egypt Station “Essential… a document of McCartney’s spirit, which is still irrepressible more than five decades after the Beatles made their debut.” NPR said, “This is his best album in maybe 20 years.” People noted, “Egypt Station is a tour through the imagination of one of our greatest artists  — what’s not to love? GQ reveals “The Untold Stories of Paul McCartney” in the magazine’s October cover story. Writer Chris Heath observed, “Paul McCartney is driven….If you imagine that by now McCartney might have reached the point where he would relax and look back with cozy satisfaction on his life’s achievements… well, then you’re already very wrong about both who Paul McCartney is and who he ever was.” In thisaccompanying video, McCartney breaks down his most iconic songs. 14th September 2018: Today Spotify is proud to announce the release of ‘Paul McCartney & Spotify Singles: Under The Staircase’, a playlist of exclusive audio and video recordings, all captured at an intimate Paul McCartney gig which took place at Abbey Road Studios over the summer, at which Paul McCartney played tracks from his newest solo album, Egypt Station.

Spotify hosted Paul McCartney at the intimate gig at Abbey Road’s iconic Studio 2, the studio in which so many of The Beatles’ classic tracks were recorded. The session – which was overseen by producer Giles Martin, the son of ‘the fifth Beatle’ Sir George Martin – featured a wealth of iconic tracks from the back catalogues of The Beatles and Wings, as well as tracks from his newest solo album, Egypt Station. The event was attended by around 150 of Paul McCartney‘s biggest fans from around the world, as well as close friends of the star and his family, including Stormzy, Kylie Minogue, Amy Schumer, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

Paul McCartney has added three new dates to his eagerly anticipated Freshen Up tour, making for a total of eight confirmed shows on Paul’s first Stateside run since the One On One Tour that played to some two million fans around the world during 2016 and 2017.

The U.S. leg of Freshen Up will now open with Paul’s return to New Orleans on May 23, where he will rock the Smoothie King Arena for the first time since 2014. On June 3, Paul will make his live debut in Fort Wayne IN, playing the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. And on June 26, Paul will visit the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ, another city he hasn’t played since 2014.

Today, Friday September 7th, sees the release of Paul McCartney’s 17th solo album Egypt Station, which critics across the world are already hailing as a stellar addition to his peerless catalogue.

Egypt Station is the first full album of all-new McCartney music since 2013’s international chart-topping NEW. The album was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of one Ryan Tedder track) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters).

Of the album’s enigmatic title, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make… Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

True to the inspiration behind its title, Egypt Station’s 14 songs combine to convey a unique travelogue vibe. Between the opening and closing instrumentals Station I and Station II, each song finds Paul capturing a place or moment before transporting the listener seamlessly to the next destination. Stops along the way include an acoustic meditation on present day contentedness (Happy With You), a timeless anthem that would fit on virtually any album of any McCartney era (People Want Peace), and an epic multi-movement closer clocking in at seven minutes with a song suite structure harkening back to the days of Paul’s previous combos (Despite Repeated Warnings). The result is a kaleidoscopic journey through myriad musical locales and eras, yet firmly rooted in the here and now–with Paul’s singular unmistakeable melodic and lyrical sensibility serving as a guide.

Paul began the journey to Egypt Station with his June appearance on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, which has since set the record for most watched late night video on Facebook, with views of over 100 million.

The following month, July saw Paul bring traffic to a standstill in London when he crossed Abbey Road on his way into the iconic Abbey Road Studios to record a session for Spotify to be released sometime in the near future.  A few days later, his next stop was his hometown of Liverpool where he visited LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, the site of the school Paul attended as a child) – Paul was interviewed by Jarvis Cocker of Pulp for an hour long Facebook Live chat.  And as if that wasn’t enough for one week – Paul drove fans wild when he announced a secret show the following day at The Cavern. Maccamania swept through the city as 200 lucky fans crammed into the tiny venue to watch Paul play a career spanning sets including brand new songs from Egypt Station. Global 5-star press reports described the show as a ‘once in a lifetime experience’.

New York City was the next stop en route to Egypt Station: Following appearances on The Howard Stern Show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and WTF with Marc Maron, this week will see another once in a lifetime experience for lucky fans in the US. To celebrate the release of the album and as part of a YouTube Original special, Paul will perform an intimate concert from New York tonight, to be streamed live on his YouTube channel. For those who can’t tune in at 8:00 pm EST the show will live on Paul’s YouTube channel after the event for fans to enjoy.
