GORILLAZ
“Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.)
New Version of GRAMMY-Nominated Track Out Today
From HUMANZ Super Deluxe Box Set
In the wake of Gorillaz’ GRAMMY nominations earlier this week–Best Dance Recording for “Andromeda” (featuring D.R.A.M.) and Best Alternative Music Album for the international chart-topping Humanz (Warner Bros.)— Gorillaz is releasing a single of the version of “Andromeda” featured on the Humanz Super Deluxe Box Set.
The “Andromeda” single release and twin GRAMMY nods cap off a triumphant 2017 U.S. campaign for Gorillaz, arguably the most successful 12 months on these shores ever experienced by the world’s most successful virtual band—beginning in January, with the inauguration eve surprise release of “Hallelujuah Money” (featuring Benjamin Clementine). The launch of the mixed reality Gorillaz app then allowed fans to hear the album for the first time as part of the largest ever worldwide geo specific listening experience bringing people together across 500 locations from Tokyo to Santiago, while ‘Saturnz Barz (Spirit House) – the six-minute Jamie Hewlett-directed epic animated film featuring four Humanz tracks made history as YouTube’s highest debuting 360 video.
Humanz arrived April 28, bowing at #1 on the U.S. album chart and #2 on the Billboard 200, topping the iTunes charts in more than 60 countries around the world, and generating critical raves including:
“A party record for the apocalypse”—BILLBOARD
“The sum of its parts is what makes Humanz so brilliant, as the cartoon Gorillaz deliver yet another classic to the real world”—BUST
“A wild party that we can’t wait to join”—ELLE
“Humanz finds the band with a new sense of purpose…a timely and real reflection of an internal conflict that so many of us can relate to right now: sometimes you need to be engaged, and shout, and fight. But sometimes, you just need to keep on dancing.”—THE FADER
“the most vibrant, consistently engaging Gorillaz album yet… a rallying cry for humanity that only a cartoon band could deliver.”—PASTE
“Damon Albarn’s virtual band is back with its most ambitious album to date… it sounds like a party at the end of the world”—PEOPLE
“Rings in the Apocalypse in Style… Damon Albarn’s cartoon pop band brings guests from across the pop spectrum to prove once again why they’re the most interesting rap-rock crossover act ever”—ROLLING STONE
“Gorillaz resumes its terrifically inventive career with Humanz…the diversity and sheer number of vocalists give the album its freshness and swagger. Engaging performances abound… whatever problems there may be in the world, on Humanz (Damon Albarn’s) counsel is to continue to dance with joy. Gorillaz’s new music makes it possible to do so.”—WALL STREET JOURNAL
The Humanz world tour began with the band’s own inaugural Demon Dayz festival June 10 in Margate UK and continued with Gorillaz’ first North American live shows in seven years – which sold out in record time and were met with rapturous response, as Gorillaz drew their biggest ever stateside crowds to the likes of Red Rocks, Golden Gate Park, Citi Field in New York, the Forum in Los Angeles and more. The Humanztour soldiered on through Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and is currently making its way through the UK, with further dates in Latin America and Europe on the horizon.
