Foo Fighters have confirmed that they will headline and curate the eagerly anticipated second incarnation of the rock n roll marathon that LA WEEKLY hailed as “a celebration of music and life,” the LOS ANGELES TIMES cited as a reminder to fans “why they come to music festivals: to feel connection and catharsis,” and FORBES reported “the response from fans inside and after was one of elation and joy at another great rock and roll party from the band who does them better than anyone else today”:

CALJAM18 will take place October 5 and 6, 2018, returning to Glen Helen Regional Park and Amphitheater for another Friday night camping party followed by another Saturday 12-hour rock  extravaganza: More fun, food, sun and sweat, more guitars, and EVEN MORE GOOD TIMES.

As its 2017 U.S. leg resumes with tonight’s sold out show in Madison WI, Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold Tour is fast approaching 750,000 tickets sold in North America alone.

Since kicking off October 7 with the band’s triumphant headline set before some 30,000+ true rock believers at its own CalJam 17 festival, the domestic leg of the tour supporting the international #1 Concrete and Gold (Roswell Records/RCA Records) has played to capacity crowds in Washington DC, Richmond VA, Greensboro NC, Cincinnati OH and more. Among the 2017-2018 dates that have sold out well in advance are Houston, Dallas, Tampa, Philadelphia, the 45,500-capacity Rogers Centre in Toronto, and three nights in the New York area: two at Madison Square Garden and one at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.

The 2017 Concrete and Gold Tour winds down with a recently announced New Years Eve Show at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The tour’s North American run resumes April 18 in Austin, Texas and will continue through the band’s July 29 return to Chicago’s Wrigley Field, a July 21-22 encore doubleheader at Boston’s Fenway Park, and more. Tickets for all shows are on sale now, with the exception of Chicago, which goes on sale to the general public Friday, November 10.

Foo Fighters kicked off the first U.S. leg of the Concrete and Gold Tour October 12 with an intimate show by FF standards—the grand opening of The Anthem in Washington DC—a performance that USA Today noted “transformed the venue into a raucous rock cathedral.” In the days since, Foo Fighters have continued to storm through sold out arenas in Richmond VA, Greensboro SC, Cincinnati and more. The first Foo Fighters global trek since the 20th Anniversary tour which placed #5 in 2015’s top grossing world tours, the Concrete and Gold Tour has seen the Foos reaching new peaks of their estimable powers. “Foo Fighters keep going and going and going in epic Greensboro show,” wrote the Charlotte Observer, “If there’s one thing you can count on lately when you walk into a Foo Fighters concert, it’s that you probably won’t get home until tomorrow.” The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported, “Having played and sung all night with a seemingly endless store of energy, Grohl noted as midnight approached, ‘I’m going to feel like I was run over by a truck tomorrow.’” And the Washington Post called the Anthem opener “a rock-and-roll clinic from Foo Fighters,” adding “when it was time to officially open the venue… the Anthem called in the only band with the local roots and international fame that could pull it off: Foo Fighters… That’s exactly what Grohl and friends did, treating the Anthem like a new leather jacket: turning something that glimmers with newness and making it feel as cozy as a childhood home.”

For further updates on the 2017-2018 Concrete and Gold Tour, continue to check www.foofighters.com.

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.

On the tails of completing the most successful North American run of their storied career, Queens of the Stone Age have confirmed a second Stateside installment of the 2018 Villains World Tour. The new dates will begin with a March 21 and 22, 2018 two night stand in San Diego, and run through the end of May, including an April 24 appearance at the Austin 360 Amphitheater—the first QOTSA Austin headline show since 2011 and first time in the area since Austin City Limits 2013. The expanded Villains 2018 campaign will also feature stops in New Orleans, Miami and additional dates in Canada where Villains lead single “The Way You Used To Do” has reigned steadily atop the Alternative, Modern Rock and CAR radio charts.

Tickets go on sale Friday, November 10 at 10am local time (*with the exception of Austin which will be on sale Friday, November 17 at 10am local time).

Support acts on the new headline dates include Royal Blood (May 17-25) and Wolf Alice (April 24-May 2), with Eagles of Death Metal added to the recently announced January 22-30 run, and Ty Segall as special guest February 1 in San Francisco. See the itinerary below for full details.

The 2017 Villains Tour reaffirmed Queens of the Stone Age’s interminable prowess as live performers, culminating in an electrifying two-hour, 20-song, career-spanning set at New York’s hallowed Madison Square Garden – their first time headlining that stage – which garnered some of the most enthusiastic reviews the Queens have ever seen:

“On stage at MSG, where countless others have played rock shows before, Queens of the Stone Age come across as refreshing originals… massive and cool at the same time. It’s a hard rope to walk and one Queens of the Stone Age excels at.” – CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

“The seasoned rockers were on fire, leaving no doubts as to why they were born to play huge shows at high volumes. In the chaos of fast strobes, smoke machines, and saturated lights, QOTSA were rock solid and dominant, almost daring the effects to overshadow their all-encompassing sound (an impossible feat).” – PANCAKES AND WHISKEY

Other markets were just as blown away, with Port Chester, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Salt Lake City, Denver, St. Louis, Kansas City, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Detroit, Indianapolis, D.C., Boston, and Portland, ME selling out, leaving in their wake tens of thousands of satisfied fans and dozens of ecstatic reviewers:

“Queens of the Stone Age plays music that sounds like grunge and nü-metal never happened, and the sleazy, strip-club glam of 1980s hair metal was allowed to grow and mutate in new ways over the decades….Adding these elements together, they then pummel you with sheer volume. The music was muscular, sexy and loud, and the audience was even louder.”—PORTLAND PRESS HERALD

“A thing of beauty… a wonderfully ugly, gnarly, twisted batch of songs that offered equal parts release and rejoicing for the sold-out, cramped-but-lively crowd”—MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE

“[QOTSA] turned in a tight, muscular set with the black-clad quintet in ferocious lockstep amidst a stage full of slalom-like light poles… the show focused on Queens’ latest album “Villains,” whose melodic anthem “Fortress” was the best performance of the night, but the group sampled enough older favorites… to acknowledge the long-time fans in the sold-out crowd.” – THE OAKLAND PRESS

Produced by Mark Ronson and Queens Of The Stone Age, Villains was released August 25 on Matador Records. The album debuted at #1 in the UK, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and Portugal, #2 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Norway and Ireland, #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the U.S. album chart, #4 on Japan’s international chart and #5 in Italy—easily the single biggest global sales week of the Queens’ seven album stretch. Villains’ first seven days in existence also saw nearly 100,000 vinyl albums moved worldwide, as the record became the #1 selling vinyl LP in the UK, U.S. and Germany. Villains also took the U.S. #1 spots on the Alternative, Hard, Rock, Internet and Independent Label Album charts and #2 on the Digital Album sales chart.

Queens Of The Stone Age are Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore.

THE McCARTNEYS’ MEAT FREE MONDAY CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES NEW FILM – ‘ONE DAY A WEEK’

THE McCARTNEYS’ MEAT FREE MONDAY CAMPAIGN
LAUNCHES NEW FILM – ‘ONE DAY A WEEK’

With appearances by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney, Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone, ‘One Day a Week’ highlights the damaging environmental impact of animal agriculture and encourages people to help by eating less meat

Ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 23) next week, Meat Free Monday has released a short film about a huge contributor to climate change that is often left out of conference discussions – animal agriculture.

“There’s a simple but significant way to help protect the planet and all its inhabitants”, says Paul McCartney to camera. “And it starts with just one day a week. One day without eating animal products can have a huge impact in helping maintain that delicate balance that sustains us all.”

With dire consequences for ourselves and future generations, livestock production results in vast amounts of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. It requires increasingly
unsustainable levels of precious resources including land, water and energy, and is a major contributor towards global environmental degradation and climate change.

The Meat Free Monday campaign has had an incredible response since its launch in 2009, with many of the world’s leading authorities on climate change endorsing meat reduction as an effective
way of fighting global warming.

The campaign’s new film ‘One Day a Week’, largely funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and produced in collaboration with French film director Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s Hope Production,
amplifies this message using the breathtaking aerial photography with which Arthus-Bertrand has become synonymous.

Narrated by Paul McCartney, and with appearances from Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney, Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone, the film describes how the beauty of the planet only exists through a
delicate balance of climatic conditions – a balance we are dangerously disrupting through our insatiable desire for animal products.

The film uses Paul McCartney’s own music – tracks from his 1997 classical music album Standing Stone, as well as an unreleased song called Botswana.

Meat Free Monday’s aim is to raise awareness and inspire people to make a change in their diets from an easily achievable starting point.

About the campaign
Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009, Meat Free Monday is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to raise awareness of the damaging environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat free day each week.

About the film

One Day a Week was largely funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, and produced by Hope Production in collaboration with Meat Free Monday. The film was directed by Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire, whose work includes ‘7 Billion Others’ (a worldwide project by Yann Arthus-Bertrand) and ‘A Thirsty World’, a film about global water issues.

Facts
• Almost a third of all land on Earth is used for livestock production.1
• A third of all cereal crops, and more than 95 per cent of soy, is turned into feed for farmed
animals.2
• An area of rainforest the size of a hundred football pitches is cut down every hour to create room
for grazing cattle.3
• It can take 2,350 litres of fresh water – that’s about 30 bathtubs! – to produce just one beef
burger.4,5
• According to scientists at the United Nations, livestock production is responsible for 14.5 per
cent of all global greenhouse gas emissions.6 Other scientists say the percentage is even
higher!7
• If present trends continue, over the next 100 years or so there will be a global mass extinction of
species.8

Accompanying the announcement of the Songs of Experience release, Live Nation has confirmed that U2’s eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour will begin in North America in May 2018.

Just as Songs of Experience serves as a companion piece to 2014’s Songs of Innocence, the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour will serve as a sequel to 2015’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour which saw “U2 reinvent the arena show” (Rolling Stone) and was named the #1 concert of 2015 by The New York Times. Pre-order of Songs of Experience is available now and across all digital platforms and will include three instant grat songs: The previously unreleased “Get Out of Your Own Way,” first single “You’re The Best Thing About Me” which was released on September 6th, and the album version of “The Blackout,” previously released as a performance video in August.  All three songs are available now to stream across all platforms. Fans who pre-order the deluxe version of the album will also receive the Kygo remix of “You’re The Best Thing About Me.”

In addition to unveiling album artwork by Anton Corbijn, U2 has revealed the final tracklist of Songs of Experience which was completed earlier this year. The lyrical approach of the album was greatly inspired by Irish poet, novelist and Trinity College, Dublin Professor Emeritus Brendan Kennelly’s advice to Bono to “write as if you’re dead’, resulting in a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the singer’s heart – family, friends, fans, himself.

Watch visualizer here

Humanz European Tour starts November 1st

Details of Super Deluxe Vinyl Box Set revealed

Today Gorillaz share a surprise new track, Garage Palace featuring Little Simz. The song has already been raucously received at their live shows and now it comes accompanied by a brilliantly retro 8-bit video game visualizer. Collaborating with Little Simz’ illustrator McKay Felt and director Noah Harris, this video adds to their long run of innovative and ground-breaking work, with the game ingeniously following Simz through dark alleys and cloudy skies on a series of combats, missions and obstacles to reach the top of a tower block for her final battle, but not without the collective muscle of Gorillaz behind her. Level UP!

Even more excitingly, Little Simz will be supporting Gorillaz on the Humanz tour across European and U.K. dates this Autumn/Winter. European dates commence in November which will lead to their homecoming gigs in London’s O2 Arena on December 4th and 5th, with their usual line up of surprise special guests.

The Super Deluxe Vinyl Boxset consists of Gorillaz’ new album Humanz, presented across 14 individual pieces of 12-inch different coloured vinyl, packaged in individually art-worked sleeves. All tracks on Humanz are backed with a non-album bonus track, most of which are previously unreleased. The Boxset also Includes a 54-page, cloth-bound, foil-blocked, hardback book of Gorillaz artwork by Jamie Hewlett and a download card, all housed in a bespoke 12-inch vinyl carrying case.

The first Foo Fighters global trek since the 20th Anniversary trek that placed #5 in 2015’s top grossing world tours, the Concrete and Gold Tour has seen the Foos reaching new peaks of their estimable powers. “Foo Fighters keep going and going and going in epic Greensboro show,” wrote the Charlotte Observer, “If there’s one thing you can count on lately when you walk into a Foo Fighters concert, it’s that you probably won’t get home until tomorrow.” The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported, “Having played and sung all night with a seemingly endless store of energy, Grohl noted as midnightapproached, ‘I’m going to feel like I was run over by a truck tomorrow.’” And the Washington Post called the Anthem opener “a rock-and-roll clinic from Foo Fighters,” adding “when it was time to officially open the venue… the Anthem called in the only band with the local roots and international fame that could pull it off: Foo Fighters… That’s exactly what Grohl and friends did, treating the Anthem like a new leather jacket: turning something that glimmers with newness and making it feel as cozy as a childhood home.”
