Last week Vampire Weekend released the songs “Harmony Hall” and “2021″ from their upcoming fourth album, Father of the Bride, to an ecstatic critical reaction including:

“Sprawls out with lush symphonies, communal vibes aplenty”—Billboard

“Wraps misgivings in three-chord elation”—The New York Times (Playlist lead)

“Buoyant, filled with the kind of sunlit energy created when throwing open the shutters.” — Pitchfork

“A swooning tune packed with kind vibes” — Rolling Stone

“A vibrant romp that seamlessly blends folksy fingerstyle guitar, ’90s rave music, a gospel choir, baroque piano, and the Grateful Dead… it’s absolutely delightful”—Stereogum

Father of the Bride will be released spring 2019 on Columbia Records.

In other news, congratulations are due to Vampire Weekend and XL Recordings on the band’s eponymous debut album being certified Platinum by the RIAA for U.S. sales in excess of 1,000,000.

Vampire Weekend was released January 29th, 2008 by XL, and debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. In addition to being newly certified Platinum in the U.S., the album has previously been certified Platinum by the BPI in the UK, and Gold by Music Canada and ARIA in Australia.

The first band to grace the cover of SPIN magazine before an album was even released, Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, Chris Tomson and former member Rostam Batmanglij met in 2005 at Columbia University in New York City.  “Even without an album, Vampire Weekend has made one of the year’s most impressive debuts,” said The New York Times of the band’s earliest recordings.

The accolades continued through the album’s release, as Vampire Weekend appeared on 2008 Top 10 lists of Time, NPR, Rolling Stone, New York Magazine, Pitchfork and countless others, as well as winning the NME award for “Best New American Indie/Alternative Band.” The band also made its first of three appearances on Saturday Night Live, as well as debut performances on  The Late Show with David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Since their debut, Vampire Weekend have released two additional albums, both of which debuted at #1 and have been certified Gold in the U.S.: 2010’s GRAMMY-nominated Contra, and 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City, which won that year’s GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND: FATHER OF THE BRIDE

VAMPIRE WEEKEND: FATHER OF THE BRIDE

NEW ALBUM OUT SPRING 2019 ON COLUMBIA RECORDS

TWO FULL TRACKS “HARMONY HALL” AND “2021” AVAILABLE NOW

Previewed by a two-hour guitar loop teaser, new Vampire Weekend tracks “Harmony Hall” and “2021” are now available across digital platforms, and as visualizations at: http://smarturl.it/hh2021

The pair of new songs are the first to be released of the 18 tracks comprising Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming fourth album, Father of the Bride, due out in spring 2019 on Columbia Records.

Father of the Bride closes a six-year gap since 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City—a period during which the band’s Ezra Koenig was anything but idle: In addition to touring the world and winning a Best Alternative GRAMMY for Modern Vampires…, Koenig released his Netflix anime series Neo Yokio, continued to host his Time Crisis show on Beats1, co-wrote and produced Beyonce’s “Hold Up”… all the while living the experiences and observations that would inform the next Vampire Weekend album.

Father of the Bride’s title is something Koenig chose years back, well before recent significant developments in his life. In typical VW fashion, the title has multiple layers of meaning, expressing the band’s signature paradox: creating songs that easily find a home on any playlist—or car radio, TV show, film soundtrack, airport PA, etc.— but reveal their complexities upon closer listening.

“Harmony Hall” was written by Ezra Koenig and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid & Ezra Koenig, with additional production by Rostam Batmanglij.

“2021” was written by Ezra Koenig & Haruomi Hosono and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid & Ezra Koenig.

“Tarantula”

New Track From Forthcoming MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE FILM ROMA
Available Now

Beck’s first musical offering of 2019 has arrived in the form of “Tarantula,” the latest release from Music Inspired By The Film ROMA, due out February 8th from Sony Music Masterworks and available to pre-order now. This collection of music inspired by Alfonso Cuarón’s 10-time Academy Award-nominated film features songs from Beck, Billie Eilish, El-P, Jessie Rye, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, UNKLE and more, recorded exclusively for this project.

Beck’s radical reimagining of “Tarantula,” a 1982 B-Side by 4AD artists Colourbox, replaces the minimalist groove of the original with an epic arrangement by Beck in collaboration with his father, David Campbell. A riveting Beck vocal performance is, as ever, the centerpiece, with the backing of a 24-piece ensemble.

Full credits for “Tarantula” are:

Beck Hansen:  vocals, piano, bass, synthesizer
Jason Falkner: bass
Ilan Rubin: drums
Leslie Feist:  vocals
Alex Lilly:  vocals

GO JACKALOPES! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8LeYu2uybU

Who didn’t see this one coming… It’s official: Foo Fighters’ DIRECTV Super Saturday Night February 2 at Atlantic Station in Atlanta with special guest Run The Jewels is 100% SOLD OUT. Nothing you can do short of impersonating the Fed Ex or pizza delivery person or taking out a second mortgage can get you into this once in a lifetime show now…

There is good news, though: Both performances—Foo Fighters and Run The Jewels—will be streamed live to fans across the world on Twitter https://twitter.com/DIRECTV or on AUDIENCE NETWORK on DIRECTV CH 239 or on DIRECTV NOW.

The live stream begins at 10:30pm ET with FOO FIGHTERS hitting the stage at 11:00pm ET.

Yes, the stadium-shaking anthems that have earned Foo Fighters 12 Grammy Awards, sold 25 million records and continue to sell millions of tickets the world over will come to your living room if you can’t make it to Atlanta. And don’t sleep on this one: The band has been circling the globe crushing it with rock marathons since its latest album, the international #1 Concrete and Gold, was released in September 2017. There are fewer Foo Fighters U.S. gigs left on the itinerary than you can count on two hands so make sure you’re in front of that phone, tablet or TV screen February 2. It may be your last dose of live Foo Fighters for quite some time to come. And Run the Jewels are sure to crush it too. If there was ever a night to make any excuse to stay in and go big…

In the meantime, get psyched for the big show the night before the big game, specifically: Get Jacked on Jackalopes! Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8LeYu2uybU for a brand new short film written and directed by Foo Fighters’ own Dave Grohl, featuring Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw and Michael Strahan—and of course some more familiar faces—in a hilarious time warping homage that presents the familiar Foo Fighters comedic chops in a classic 1970s cinematic style and story (and don’t forget the cheerleaders):

Larry Butz (Dave Grohl) sponsored by Butz Bail Bonds
Helmuut Pyle (Pat Smear) sponsored by Pyles Adult diapers
Jake Schenker (Chris Shiflett)
Bertrand Hitchens (Nate Mendel) sponsored by 1 800 Ferns
Bret Rogers (Taylor Hawkins)

The Longest Yard and Invincible got nothing on the Jackalopes—you’ll be on the edge of your seat dying to know “WILL THEY MAKE IT TO SUPER SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE THE BIG GAME?”

Stay connected to the latest DIRECTV Super Saturday Night news by following AT&T, DIRECTV and Foo Fighters on social.

STATEMENT FROM FAMILY & BANDMATES OF LORNA DOOM OF THE GERMS:

STATEMENT FROM FAMILY & BANDMATES OF LORNA DOOM OF THE GERMS:
Teresa Ryan a/k/a Lorna Doom was always a woman of mystery. So much so, that even in her final days as she fought a tough, year-long battle with cancer, very few people even knew she was ill. She kept a very close knit social circle, and those who knew her and loved her always respected her desire for privacy.
When she finally lost her struggle with cancer at 12:50pm  yesterday, Wednesday January 16th,  it came as a shock to many, as she had chosen to not burden others with what she was going through.

EGYPT STATION OUT NOW ON CAPITOL RECORDS

Las Vegas (January 15, 2019) – In the wake of the triumphant headlining stand at the Austin City Limits festival that the Austin American Statesman called, “A Marathon to Remember Forever,” Paul McCartney has added yet another show to the upcoming U.S. leg of his new “FRESHEN UP” tour. The newly confirmed Saturday, June 29 show at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is the newest addition to Paul’s first extended stateside run since the “One On One Tour” that played to some two million fans around the world during 2016 and 2017.

The “Freshen Up” tour is Paul’s first outing following the release of his No. 1 charting album, Egypt Station, released September 7 on Capitol Records to stellar reviews. Rolling Stone raved, “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this…And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth,” while Entertainment Weekly described the album as “the still-vital life force of a superstar who has been there and everywhere and is glad just to be here now.”

The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a show: nearly three hours nightly of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings, and of course, The Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives.

Paul and his band have played an unparalleled range of venues and locations throughout the Americas, the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and all points in between. Among them, the exterior of the Coliseum in Rome; Moscow’s Red Square; Buckingham Palace; The White House; a free show in Mexico for more than 400,000 people; the last show ever at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert in 1966; a 2016 week in the California desert that included two headlining sets at the historic ‘Desert Trip’ festival; a jam-packed club gig for a few hundred lucky fans at Pappy & Harriet’s Pionee rtown Palace; and one live performance that was broadcast into space featuring Paul’s band of the last 15+ years – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums). Paul and his team are constantly upgrading state-of-the-art audio and video technology into the live shows that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house making a Paul McCartney concert never anything short of life-changing.

American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the public beginning Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. PST through Sunday, Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. PST. Tickets go on sale to the public Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. PST at AXS.com.
