BAND OF HORSES
Durand Jones & The Indications, The Regrettes, Beach Bunny, Radkey, BBQ Competition, Tailgate Party, Rides, Games & More

TICKETS ON SALE TO THE PUBLIC STARTING MARCH 6 AT 10AM ET

After two years and 70,000+ served, Foo Fighters are bringing the JAM back from CAL to D.C.: This July 4, consider yourself Foo-rmally invited to an all-day all-night celebration of the 25th birthday of that first album that started it all—all at FedExField in Dave Grohl’s formative stomping ground.

That’s right, that Grohl one-man-band-demo-turned-platinum-debut-album came into this world July 4, 1995. And now 10 albums, no less than a dozen GRAMMYs and countless trips around the arena, stadium and festival stages of the world later, it’s time to join Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee in commemorating that milestone.

In addition to the customary main attraction of a patented Foo Fighters rockathon, the inaugural D.C. JAM will feature a full day and night of performances by ambassadors from points all over the musical map of the U.S.A.: From Lexington by way of Nashville, multiple Grammy, Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Award winner Chris Stapleton; representing Virginia Beach, Academy Award nominee and multiple Grammy, BET, Billboard Music Award, and NAACP Image Award winning singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams; from the earliest days of the Los Angeles punk scene, the first all-female band to top the charts with an album they wrote and played themselves, The Go-Go’s; Born in Seattle and bred in the Charleston SC lowcountry, Band of Horses; And rounding out the genre/geo-spanning D.C. JAM bill: Durand Jones & The Indications (Bloomington IN), The Regrettes (L.A.), Beach Bunny (Chicago), and Radkey (St. Joseph, MO). Live Nation will produce the event.

Foo Fighters and the festival organizers are of course cognizant of the fact that everyone needs an occasional reprieve from the rock, and as such D.C. JAM will feature side attractions including a BBQ Competition, a Tailgate Party, Rides, Games and more to be added and announced as the date nears.

Foo Fighters Fan Presale will begin on Tuesday, March 3 at 12pm ET.

Chris Stapleton’s Fan Presale will begin on Thursday, March 5 at 12pm ET.

Citi is the official presale credit card of D.C Jam. As such, Citi cardmembers will have access to purchase presale tickets beginning Tuesday, March 3 at 12pm ET through Citi Entertainment®. For complete presale details visit www.citientertainment.com

Live Nation, Redskins Season Ticket Member, and FedExField Events Fan Presale will begin on Thursday, March 5 at 12 pm ET.

Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Friday, March 6 at 10am ET. For pre-sales and other information, go to DCJamFest.com

FEATURING LIMITED EDITION TOILETPAPER MERCHANDISE AND IGGY POP PRINTS, COURTESY MORRISON GALLERY

“Part of the ongoing Iggy Pop master class in doing things your own way”—GQ

Iggy Pop has unveiled a striking and spare new video for “We Are The People,” from his critically lauded album FREE (Loma Vista Recordings). In the wake of last week’s live rendition of the song by Iggy accompanied by Laurie Anderson at Carnegie Hall, the “We Are The People” clip imbues Iggy’s interpretation of a poem written by Lou Reed in 1970 with a riveting new visual dimension. From the opening lines “We are the people without land. We are the people without tradition. We are the people who do not know how to die peacefully and at ease” to the song’s slow fade, the effect of Iggy’s close-up recitation is transfixing.

On Saturday March 7 at Perrotin in New York City, Iggy will release a limited, numbered vinyl “Test Pressing” release of FREEfeaturing cover art and creative collaboration with Maurizio Cattelan. Iggy Pop and Maurizio Cattelan will sign copies of this special “test pressing” vinyl which has been made available in 340 numbered units worldwide, including a bonus 7” featuring two unreleased tracks exclusive to this special artistic collaboration: Iggy’s a cappella rendition of “Brahms Lullaby” and “Epistle to Tromba,” a heartfelt ode to a late canine companion. Each copy of this numbered edition of 340 will be enclosed in a resealable Japanese polybag. Concurrently, Perrotin is excited to present books and merchandise spanning Maurizio Cattelan’s career, as well as a series of historic fine art prints of Iggy Pop, courtesy of the Morrison Gallery.

The limited edition version of FREE is available for purchase commencing at 10am on Saturday, March 7, while the signing will begin at 1pm. Perrotin is located at 130 Orchard Street in New York. For further details, go to https://found.ee/IP_Perrotin

FREE was originally released September 13, 2019 by Loma Vista Recordings. Featuring collaborators Leron Thomas (trumpet/keys/songwriting) and Noveller (guitar/vocals), the album holds a singular place in Iggy’s canon—and has generated suitably unique praise: The New York Times called the title track “atmospheric and elusive” and praised the song “Sonali” as “a rushing, fluttering, quasi-waltz that hurries toward an undisclosed destination, whimsical but driven.” Rolling Stone regaled Iggy’s performance on the new record, “Pop flexes his baritone, expressing himself more clearly than perhaps ever before.” And The Washington Post noted “Iggy haunts these new songs like a dignified spirit — which might make Free an exposition on death, or transcendence, or both.”

MAY 24 AT THE GREEK THEATRE

With Special Guests The English Beat and Mighty Mighty BossTones

Tickets On Sale to the Public Friday, March 6th at 10:00am PST

Our House: The Very Best of Madness Out May 15 on BMG

The pride of Camden Town will return to Southern California for the first time since Coachella 2012, when Madness overtakes the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 24 for a one-night-only ska/bluebeat hit parade culled from 40+ years of glorious chaos. Join original Madness members Graham “Suggs” McPherson, Mike “Barso” Barson, Lee “Kix” Thompson, Chris “Chrissy Boy” Foreman, Mark “Bedders” Bedford, Daniel “Woody” Woodgate and special guests The English Beat and Mighty Mighty BossTones for this final addition to a U.S. itinerary that will be playing to packed houses from Boston and New York to Vegas and Oakland (where a second night has been added due to popular demand). See below for the full list of Madness U.S. shows.

On May 15, days prior to the tour’s Boston kick-off, BMG will release the U.S.-only compilation Our House: The Very Best of Madness. This 12-song primer for Madness fans new and old alike is a career-spanning array of hits sure to populate the tour’s nightly setlists: From 1979 debut single The Prince through timeless classics including Our House, It Must Be Love, Baggy Trousers and House of Fun, to more recent staples NW5, Mr. Apples and last year’s standalone single Bullingdon Boys.

Madness emerged from North London to spearhead the late 1970s / early 1980s two-tone ska revival with such classic albums as its 1979 debut One Step Beyond… (featuring the title track, My Girl, Bed & Breakfast Man, and Night Boat to Cairo) and sophomore effort Absolutely (featuring Baggy Trousers and Embarrassment). As the band’s sound evolved over the course of albums including 7The Rise & FallKeep Moving and the self-titled compilation that yielded the U.S. top 10 hit Our House, Madness spent an unprecedented 200+ weeks on the UK charts from 1980-1986. Madness’ generation-spanning legacy has produced more than a dozen UK top 10 singles including It Must Be Love, House of Fun, Wings of a Dove, Shut Up and more, inspired the London musical Our House, and in 2000 earned the band the Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors for Outstanding Song Collection. Since 2007, Madness has released its music on its own Lucky 7 record label, including albums The Liberty of Norton FolgateOui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da and Can’t Touch Us Now, and the 2019 single Bullingdon Boys. The band continues to headline arenas and festivals the world over—not to mention atop Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert and the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, in addition to creating a yearly tradition with its own annual House of Fun Weekender.

Tickets for Madness at the Greek Theatre will be on sale to the public from Friday, March 6th at 10:00am PST. For further information, go to http://www.madness.co.uk/

GORILLAZ: Song Machine Season 1 Ep. 2 ft. Fatoumata Diawara

Song Machine
Season 1 Episode 2

‘Désolé’
ft Fatoumata Diawara

WATCH NOW!

FOLLOW SONG MACHINE HERE

Désolé – the second episode of Song Machine – features multiple Grammy Award nominee and Malian superstar Fatoumata Diawara and sees our intrepid heroes teleport themselves via a Kong Studios portal to Lake Como. Tune in HERE.

Désolé – ‘sorry’ in French – is a hopeful and uplifting love song, rare in being sung in three languages – English, French and Bambara. Being Episode 2, it accompanies 2DNoodle and Russel, boating on Lake Como, while accidentally leaving bandmate Murdoc behind. An accident? Or possibly not…

Watch Désolé ft Fatoumata Diawarahere NOW!

Gorillaz drummer Russel said “Making Désolé with Fatou was a real moment for me, you know. She’s an African Queen. This lady made the song what it is, beautiful, like life. What can I say about Désolé? They say sorry is the hardest word, but that’s not true… Try saying antidisestablishmentarianism with a mouth full of gluten free cronuts on a speed boat without licking your lips.”

Gorillaz are once again disrupting the paradigm and breaking convention in their round the back door fashion with Song Machine, the newest concept from one of the most inventive bands around. Song Machine – the cartoon music contraption which spits out brand new episodes fresh from the studio, as and when they happen – will see Gorillaz joined by an exciting and ever-evolving roster of as yet unannounced collaborators captured live in Kong Studios alongside the world’s most successful virtual band*. The cameras are rolling 24/7, the fourth wall is broken, the kettle is on, the chaos is real, the door is open… What’s coming next? Stay tuned.

Watch Episode 1 – Momentary Bliss ft. slowthai and Slaves – here.

Follow Song Machinehere to catch Machine Bitez – bite sized conversation between cartoon band members and collaborators, overheard in Kong Studios.

Notes to Editors:

About Gorillaz:
Virtual band Gorillaz is singer 2D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russel  Hobbs. Created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, their acclaimed eponymous debut album was released in 2001. The BRIT and Grammy Award winning band’s subsequent albums are Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010), The Fall (2011), Humanz (2017) and The Now Now (2018). A truly global phenomenon, Gorillaz have achieved success in entirely ground-breaking ways, touring the world from San Diego to Syria, winning numerous awards including the coveted Jim Henson Creativity Honor.

* The band are recognised by The Guinness Book Of World Records as the planet’s Most
Successful Virtual Act.

About Fatoumata Diawara:
Hailed as one of the most vital standard-bearers of modern African music, Fatoumata Diawara’s spectacular 2011 debut album Fatou made the Malian singer and guitarist the most talked about new African artist on the planet. She takes her artistry to fresh and thrilling heights on her new album FENFO. Like her debut, which crossed over to feature prominently in the ‘albums of the year’ lists in the mainstream rock press, FENFO is an album that has no borders.

Fatoumata Diawara has worked with some of the biggest names in contemporary music. She recorded with Bobby Womack and Herbie Hancock; played Glastonbury and other major festivals; and toured with the Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca. She assembled a West African super-group featuring Amadou and Mariam, Oumou Sangaré and Toumani Diabaté to record a song calling for peace in her troubled homeland; and climbed aboard Damon Albarn’s star-studded Africa Express, which culminated in her sharing a stage with Sir Paul McCartney.

METALLICA: STATEMENT FROM JAMES HETFIELD

STATEMENT FROM JAMES HETFIELD

Dear Metallica Family,

It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville this year. As part of my continuing effort to get and stay healthy, I have critical recovery events on those weekends that cannot be moved. I apologize to all of our fans who have bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the festival promoters to provide for refunds or exchanges. My intent with this statement is saying “I apologize” to each one of you. The reality is that I have not prioritized my health in the past year of touring and I now know that my mental health comes first. That might sound like a no-brainer for most of you but I didn’t want to let the Metallica team/family down and, I alone, completely compromised myself.

Looking on the brighter side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for me to look after my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

I want to stress that the band will play all other announced 2020 shows.

I am looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing all our great South American fans in April. And, of course, playing the Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville, in Daytona and Aftershock in Sacramento. We will still play two unique sets at each of these festivals.

Beyond 2020, I am optimistic about the blessings I have been given and what the future brings. I appreciate all the great prayers and support from everyone since I went into rehab last September. Like the moth into the flame, being human in this career has its huge challenges and can be difficult. Your understanding helps the healing.

– James

RADIOHEAD’S ED O’BRIEN ANNOUNCES:

EOB NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 28 AT 10am LOCAL TIME

Pre-Sale Information & More here: https://EOB.lnk.to/TourPR

EOB Earth out April 17th on Capitol Records

“O’Brien’s vocal forays into falsetto don’t necessarily so much betray a carryover of that other big band he’s in so much as highlight his irreplaceable contribution… The fact that they only began practicing four weeks earlier is astonishing, which, from the audience’s point of view in such a close setting, only enhanced the intimacy, witnessing a group of musicians who have been acquainted, and are now really getting to know each other.  ‘We’re starting to feel like a band,’ O’Brien said. It’s exciting to imagine what that band will become.”— MXDWN

“The gig was a revelation… The young multiracial, co-ed band answer every modest guitar riff and vocal line like an afternoon tennis match, punctuating vocals, that are often dreamy and sometimes uneasy. But there is a kind of pop wizardry here too: the hooks are concise and repetitive. Ed’s masterful guitar work is deliberately low-key, playing second fiddle. Switching back and forth between electric guitars, modified acoustic guitars and triggers, he pauses occasionally to raise his arms above his head and sing.”—HOT PRESS

“’Brasil’ stretched beyond nine minutes and featured captivating improvisational work by the five-piece band. ‘Shangri-La’ was tautly composed and hooky… a reminder that O’Brien is a co-architect of songs like Radiohead’s ‘Paranoid Android.’”—THE BIG TAKEOVER

Fresh off triumphant sold out intimate pre-tour events in Toronto, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, Ed O’Brien of Radiohead has announced his first full scale North American tour under his EOB banner. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday at 10am local time. Fans who pre-order EOB’s upcoming album Earth will be treated to a unique code enabling them to purchase pre-sale tickets on Thursday, February 27th, one day ahead of the general public. For more information on pre-sale and pre-orders visit eobmusic.com

Ed O’Brien is partnering with the environmental nonprofit, REVERB.org with the goal of making the upcoming EOB tour dates “climate-positive” — neutralizing more greenhouse gas emissions than those being produced by the tour. As part of REVERB’s unCHANGEit climate campaign, the tour will be funding and building important projects around the world that directly eliminate greenhouse gasses and fight climate change.

The EOB live band, comprised of Hinako Omori, Ross Chapman, Dishan Abrahams and Alvin Ford, Jr., will begin circling the globe in Minneapolis and will continue to do so through the fall. In the meantime, the following dates are revealed today in addition to the previously announced stops at Bonnaroo and the Newport Folk Festival.

FOO FIGHTERS: 25TH ANNIVERSARY VAN TOUR TO REVISIT STOPS ALONG 1995 TOUR

FOO FIGHTERS 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN

THE VAN TOUR TO REVISIT STOPS ALONG 1995 TOUR

All Shows To Feature Sneak Peek of Dave Grohl’s New Documentary WHAT DRIVES US

Tickets On Sale to the Public Friday, February 21 at 10am Local Time

Congratulations: You’re old! You’ve been going to see Foo Fighters shows for 25 years now! What better way to celebrate than joining the band in commemorating its silver anniversary in some of the same cities where the first FF shows took place in 1995? Beginning April 12 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix AZ, the Foo Fighters’ 2020 Van Tour will do just that, hitting a number of the same spots that Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel and Pat Smear trailblazed in a Dodge van all those years ago—in arenas this time, because aside from many of those clubs on that 1995 trek having since ceased to exist, squeezing a 2020 FF show into the few that are still around would just be too insane…

… or would it? Stay tuned for the answer to that question. Or answers…

In addition to customary all-night rock n roll marathons from 1995 Van Tour veterans Grohl, Mendel and Smear and their longtime comrades Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee, each and every 2020 Van Tour show will feature a very special opening attraction: A sneak peek at an excerpt from Dave Grohl’s brand new documentary WHAT DRIVES US. Foo Fighters’ 2020 Van Tour will feature a short preview from Dave’s deep dive into what possesses a particular tribe of human beings to leave behind jobs, families, relationships and any semblance of sanity to climb into a busted ass econoline and take their music to the people–or at least a dozen or so of them here and there. WHAT DRIVES US explores motivations, recounts personal anecdotes, and explores the physical and psychological toll of touring in vans via interviews with members of van tour veteran bands ranging from Black Flag and Dead Kennedys to Metallica and The Beatles, and many, many more.

Citi is the official presale credit card of The Van Tour 2020. As such, Citi cardmembers will have access to purchase presale tickets beginning Tuesday, February 18 at 12pm ET until Thursday, February 20 at 10pm local time through Citi Entertainment®. For complete presale details visit www.citientertainment.com.   For further information, stay tuned to FooFighters.com.

METALLICA: ALL WITHIN MY HANDS FOUNDATION HELPING HANDS CONCERT RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 12, 2020

METALLICA: ALL WITHIN MY HANDS FOUNDATION

HELPING HANDS CONCERT RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 12, 2020

Time to update the calendar as the second installment of the All Within My Hands Helping Hands Concert has been rescheduled for September 12, 2020, still at the Masonic in San Francisco.  A few of you may recall that in September as we were riding high on all the positive vibes that came out of the two S&M² shows, we were excited to announce that we had set aside March 28th to celebrate AWMH with all of you again.  However, we may have been a little too ambitious with that date in terms of getting our shit together and giving you an experience that matches or surpasses the first event held in November of 2018.

We apologize for inconvenience that this change may cause and thank you for all the support and love that you’ve given All Within My Hands.  We’ve had some incredible accomplishments in the last two years, including the launch of the innovative Metallica Scholars program (more on year two here:  https://www.allwithinmyhands.org/news-media/news/metallica-scholars-year-two.html) and are excited to share all the details—and a kick-ass show—with you later this year.

More information and ticketing details coming very soon.

DESERT SESSIONS VOLS 11 & 12OUT NOW
ON MATADOR RECORDS

Joshua Homme’s collaborative motley crew Desert Sessions follow up the recent fever dream vision of their “Easier Said Than Done” clip with the latest music video from Desert SessionsVols. 11 & 12 (aka respectively Arrivederci Despair and Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels) (Matador):  “If You Run.” Directed by filmmaker / actor Rio Hackford, “If You Run” stars Homme and DS newcomer Libby Grace as a mysterious hitchhiker, following them on a sinister trip through the Joshua Tree desert, culminating in a freakishly hallucinatory finale set at the famed Rancho De La Luna studio. Hackford’s “If You Run” visualization also stars DS collaborators Billy Gibbons, Dave Catching, Matt Sweeney, Stella Mozgawa, and Carla Azar.

“The video was inspired by Josh bringing an unknown Libby Grace into the Dessert Sessions arena to show her haunting magic to the world. Homme, Sweeney and I are some of the only people who have heard Libby’s music, so the idea of them introducing her to the players and recording process lit the fuse.
The song lent itself perfectly to the lonesome desert landscape and the spell that the Rancho can cast on anyone that passes through its doors.”

In other news… Inspired by the (disappointingly) frequent misspelling of the Desert Sessions, the desert collective have launched the Dessert Sessions: Feral Recipes for the Joyful Destruction of Taste Buds, a unique collection of otherworldly recipes created and inspired by the music of the Desert Sessions. Cheese stuffed meat rings, sardine topped doughnut cakes, avocado and sour cream gelatin plates abound! Fans can try their hands at one of these recipes here and share their creations by tagging #dessertsessions.

Ending a 16-year hiatus, Desert Sessions returned in October 2019 with the most ambitious entries to date in its expansive and elusive catalog. Vols. 11 & 12  were recorded (mostly) in December 2018 at Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, CA, with Queens of the Stone Age founder and Desert Sessions ringleader/producer Joshua Homme enlisting a cast of players including Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Les Claypool (Primus), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Superwolf, Endless Boogie), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London), Libby Grace and of course Töôrnst Hülpft.
