The book will reveal the never-before-seen lyrics to an unrecorded Beatles song titled Tell Me Who He Is

Paul McCartney has revealed the list of the 154 songs featured in his forthcoming book The Lyrics, publishing 2nd November 2021.

This career-spanning selection also includes a set of lyrics to an unrecorded Beatles song: Tell Me Who He Is. During the writing of The Lyrics, the hand-written lyrics were discovered in one of Paul’s notebooks, believed to date back to the early 1960s.

Showcasing many further treasures from Paul’s archive, The Lyrics includes hand written lyric sheets, unseen personal photographs, drafts, and drawings. Each song is accompanied by a commentary by Paul McCartney giving a unique insight into his creative process.

To accompany the new book, the British Library has announced it will host a free display entitled Paul McCartney: The Lyrics (5 November 2021 – 13 March 2022), which will celebrate the songwriter and performer and feature previously unseen lyrics from his personal archive. Handwritten lyrics and photographs spanning McCartney’s career will reveal the process and people behind some of the most famous songs of all time, from his earliest compositions through legendary decades of The Beatles and Wings to the present.

More about The Lyrics

A self-portrait in 154 songs, by our greatest living songwriter.

Paul McCartney recounts his life and art through the prism of 154 songs from all stages of his career. The Lyrics is edited and introduced by the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon.

“More often than I can count, I’ve been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right. The one thing I’ve always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs. I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I  have no such notebooks. What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I’ve learned serve much the same purpose. And these songs span my entire life” – Paul McCartney, Foreward to The Lyrics

B-SIDES & RARITIES – Parts I & II

DELUXE VINYL BOX SET, VINYL & CD

OUT 22 OCTOBER

LISTEN TO PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACK ‘VORTEX’ HERE

PRE-ORDER ALBUM HERE

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will release B-Sides & Rarities Part II, the long anticipated follow up to 2005’s B-Sides & Rarities, on 22 October on double vinyl, double CD, deluxe double CD and all digital platforms.

B-Sides & Rarities Part I and Part II will also be released together as a Limited Edition Deluxe 7 Vinyl Box Set including 83 rare tracks and exclusive sleeve notes.

B-Sides & Rarities Part II was compiled by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, and contains 27 rare and unreleased tracks from 2006-2020, including the first recordings of ‘Skeleton Tree’, ‘Girl In Amber’ and ‘Bright Horses’.

Previously unreleased song ‘Vortex’ is available to stream now. Taken from B-Sides & Rarities Part II, it was written and recorded in 2006 by Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos. As the band were never able to define the song as either Grinderman or Bad Seeds, it remained unreleased.

The original B-Sides & Rarities Part I was released in 2005 – compiled by Mick Harvey it comprises 56 tracks including rarities, outtakes, covers and B-sides from 1988-2005. This is the first time the album is available on vinyl.

“I always liked the original B-Sides & Rarities more than any of our other albums. It’s the only one I’d listen to willingly. It seems more relaxed, even a bit nonsensical in places, but with some beautiful songs throughout. There is something, too, about the smallness of certain songs that is closer to their original spirit.

B-Sides & Rarities Part II continues this strange and beautiful collection of lost songs from The Bad Seeds. I love the final side of the last disc because it reveals the small and fragile beginnings of some of my favourite Bad Seeds songs. ‘Waiting For You’ complete with bizarre ‘canning factory’ rhythm track, a gorgeous ‘Life Per Se’ deemed too sad for Skeleton Tree, and ‘Earthlings’ that some consider the finest track of the Ghosteen sessions.”  – Nick Cave

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will headline European festivals shows in Summer 2022

Nick Cave & Warren Ellis will tour the UK this Autumn

ON TOUR IN THE U.S. STARTING SEPTEMBER 3

St. Vincent adds a slow flatbed ride to her breakneck paced fall schedule with the new video for “Daddy’s Home.” A surreal daydream sprinkled with faded glamour, the video offers a new dimension to the title track of her latest album, released May 14 by Loma Vista and currently residing on the Best of 2021 So Far lists of AV Club, Entertainment Weekly, Flood, The Needle Drop, Rolling Stone, Uproxx, Variety and more.

As on the recent Down and Out Downtown full length concert special streamed globally by Moment House, Daddy’s Home material will be brought to life alongside staples spanning the St. Vincent catalog on her hotly anticipated U.S. tour. St. Vincent will do some time on the road beginning September 3 in Portland, ME and will include headline appearances at Radio City Music Hall, Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival, the Hollywood Bowl and more before concluding October 22 at the Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta. See below for a full list of tour dates.

Next stop on St. Vincent’s seemingly endless odyssey will be The Nowhere Inn, opening September 17 in theaters and everywhere movies are rented, purchased or streamed. Co-written by and co-starring St. Vincent (a/k/a Annie Clark) and Carrie Brownstein, and directed by Bill Benz (director of all the Daddy’s Home clips), the IFC Films metafictional feature presents an equally funny and fractured commentary on reality, identity, and authenticity. See the recently unveiled trailer for The Nowhere Inn HERE.

St. Vincent will then merge from the silver screen onto the TV screen, performing as musical guest on the September 21 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

McCartney III Imagined Physical Release July 23

It’s been called “a funky transformation” (UPROXX) and a “groovy mashup” (AV CLUB) that “sounds more like a Sugarhill Gang track than the original song” (ROLLING STONE)… And now “Find My Way (feat. Beck)” has been #ThreeImagined as a psychedelic visual trip that blurs the boundaries of time, space — and even identity.

The “Find My Way (feat. Beck)” video was co-produced by Hyperreal Digital, which specializes in the creation of hyper-realistic digital avatars. “The technology to de-age talent and have them perform in creative environments like this is now fully-realized, even with one of the most recognized faces in the world,” said Hyperreal’s CEO Remington Scott.

Directed by Andrew Donoho (Janelle Monae, The Strokes, Khalid) and choreographed by Phil Tayag (Bruno Mars, Jabbawockeez), “Find My Way (feat. Beck)” was unveiled to the world today via a global broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and across MTV’s worldwide network of channels, as well as on the ViacomCBS Times Square billboard in New York.

“Find My Way (feat. Beck)” is the opening track of III Imagined, which is released on vinyl, CD, and cassette July 23 via Capitol Records. Pre-order here: https://PaulMcCartney.lnk.to/3ImaginedPhysicalPR

Upon its digital release in April, McCartney III Imagined moved THE NEW YORK TIMES to say “Don’t take Paul McCartney’s enduring gifts — natural melody, succinctly surprising lyrics, sly chord progressions, tidy arrangements — for granted. Other songwriters don’t.” Personally curated by Paul, the album features an eclectic all-star lineup featuring Damon Albarn, Anderson .Paak, Blood Orange, Phoebe Bridgers, EOB, Dominic Fike, Josh Homme, Khruangbin, St. Vincent and 3D RDN of Massive Attack, each covering and/or reimagining their favorite moments from Paul’s acclaimed McCartney III album in their own signature styles. The result is a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation – one that serves as an extension of the instantly beloved McCartney III while standing on its own as a brilliant and adventurous milestone in the McCartney discography.

Physical editions of McCartney III Imagined will include the exclusive bonus track “Long Tailed Winter Bird (Idris Elba Remix).”

About Hyperreal: Hyperreal empowers A-list talent and A-list brands with a digital asset that enables them to maximize their value in the world of virtual appearances and virtual commerce. The Company was founded by award-winning VFX Director, Remington Scott.

Not content to bring live rock n roll marathons back to the Lower 48, Foo Fighters have confirmed a three-show expedition to Alaska.

The band will play its first ever shows in the Last Frontier August 17th and 19th at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage, and August 21st at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.

For anyone who’s been living under a glacier, Foo Fighters’ Alaskan dates are the latest addition to a U.S. itinerary that kicked off last month with the now legendary sold-out, full-capacity Madison Square Garden show that welcomed live music back to New York—a show ROLLING STONE described as “three loud, sweaty, emotional, and supremely fun hours.”
