THIRD MAN RECORDS SIGNS SEASICK STEVE TO ONE ALBUM NORTH AMERICAN DEAL

Two-Song Third Man Blue Series Single To Be Released Soon

Third Man Records proudly announce the signing of a one album North American record deal with Oakland-born, Tennessee-reared UK sensation Seasick Steve.

Having previously made his way variously as farmhand, carnie, cowboy and hobo, Seasick Steve’s unique arsenal of instruments includes the Three-String Trance Wonder (a custom-tuned three-string guitar  with a Harmony pickup attached by duct tape that he’s described occasionally as the “biggest piece of shit in the world”), the One-Stringed Diddley Bow (don’t ask) and the MDM or Mississippi Drum Machine (a wooden box stomped on to provide percussion).

Seasick Steve has risen to national prominence in the UK, where his albums including I Started Out With Nothing And I Still Got Most Of It Left and Man From Another Time have charted in in the Top 10 and his sold out tours have featured headline gigs at such prestigious venues as the Royal Albert Hall, the Manchester Apollo, the Grand Opera House in Belfast, and appearances at the Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury festivals.

Seasick Steve’s forthcoming album will be released later this year in North America via Third Man Records and will be preceded by a two-song single for the label’s Blue Series. He will also be playing a small run of U.S. gigs prior to the album’s release, including March 17 at the Belmont lounge in Austin TX, March 31 at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland OR, April 4 at Slim’s in San Francisco, April 5 at the Blank Club in San Jose, and April 7 at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles.

FOO FIGHTERS “ROPE” VIDEO PREMIERE MARCH 10 ON MTV AND MTV.COM WASTING LIGHT OUT APRIL 12 MEDIUM RARE COVERS COMPILATION OUT TO COMMEMORATE RECORD STORE DAY ACTUAL “WHITE LIMO” TO TOUR THE U.S. THROUGH END OF MARCH

The Dave Grohl-directed video for “Rope,” the first single from Foo Fighters’ forthcoming seventh studio album Wasting Light, has been confirmed for an MTV/MTV.com premiere 7:54pm ET/PT on Thursday, March 10.

Wasting Light will be released April 12 on Roswell/RCA, while “Rope” is available now both as a digital single and as an instant grat with iTunes pre-orders of the full record.

Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, Wasting Light’s no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band’s 15-year-plus career: From first single “Rope” to the frenetic opener “Bridge Burning” to the beautifully bipolar “These Days” to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould (“Dear Rosemary”) and Krist Novoselic (“I Should Have Known”), Wasting Light is a singular triumph: a band that’s headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with its finest hour.

Following hot on the heels of Wasting Light’s release will be Medium Rare, a vinyl-only compendium of the Foo Fighters’ arsenal of classic cover tunes, released to commemorate this year’s annual Record Store Day at participating stores only. Medium Rare is a must for every serious Foo Fighters fan who’s thrilled to the band’s versions of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Band On The Run” recorded at Abbey Road, seen them bust out Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar,” Gary Numan’s “Down In The Park” or Mose Allison’s (by way of The Who) “Young Man Blues” in live sets over the years, or scoured the digital and physical worlds for their versions of Husker Du’s “Never Talking To You Again,” The Ramones’ “Danny Says” or Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street.” Medium Rare marks the first and only time all these and more have been compiled in one place, along with previously unreleased versions of  Thin Lizzy’s “Bad Reputation” and The Zombies’ “This Will Be Our Year.”

In other news, the namesake of the “White Limo” video (which has surpassed one million views at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebJ2brErERQ) will soon be embarking on a cross-country tour of record stores, radio stations, gas stations and more, playing Wasting Light for those lucky enough to find it. Yes, the same vehicle that co-stars in the smash vital video along with Foo Fighters Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, and the legendary Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, will be traversing the country and spreading the rock. Follow it here http://whitelimotour.tumblr.com/ and here http://twitter.com/WHITELIMOTOUR

Finally, Wasting Light’s release will be preceded by the release of a feature length Foo Fighters documentary directed by Academy Award winner James Moll (The Last Days, Running The Sahara), produced by Nigel Sinclair (No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who, The Last Play At Shea) and financed by Exclusive Media Group and RCA Records.   Moll’s documentary, from Spitfire Pictures, chronicles the entire history of the Foo Fighters, from the cassette demos Grohl recorded during his tenure as Nirvana’s drummer through their ascent to their Grammy-winning, multi-platinum, arena and stadium headlining status as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet.

GORILLAZ “THE FALL” SET FOR APRIL 16 VINYL RELEASE FOR RECORD STORE DAY; CD & DIGITAL DOWNLOAD RELEASE SET FOR APRIL 19

2D: “Uhmmm….The first Gorillaz album, our debut record, was more Russel’s…like… lots of hip-hop, funk and Cuban dub stars. Demon Days right, came more from Noodle and her dark doomy demos that she made, and all of her contemplations on the world ‘in a place of night’. Plastic Beach came out mainly from Murdoc’s head, all of his mucky exploits and global collaborations and legendary mash-ups recorded on the Plastic Beach island in the middle of the ocean. Very rum and piratey… And this one The Fall, is mostly just me…something more gentle and just…well…it’s just me and an iPad really mucking about…trying out some stuff. Just looking at America and then tapping on the screen…I’m not really concentrating too hard on it….So, right, each album got all of us on it somewhere, but each time it’s…more of one of us than the others….Well, that’s how I see it anyway.”

Gorillaz fan club download album The Fall is now set to be released on 180gm vinyl on April 16, 2011 by EMI’s Virgin Records.

The album was created throughout the Gorillaz 19-date North American Tour last autumn. Recorded on a daily basis in various hotels and venues, The Fall, is a sonic diary of that journey.

A download of The Fall was originally gifted to members of the Gorillaz fan club on December 25, 2010. The 15-track album produced by Gorillaz and Stephen Sedgwick, will also be made available on CD and as a digital download on April 19.

The track listing for The Fall is as follows:

The expanded, remastered reissue of Queens Of The Stone Age’s classic 1998 debut out digitally March 8 and on CD and vinyl April 19 on Rekords Rekords/Domino can now be streamed in its entirety at the band’s website and social media channels, as well via the site of the band’s own Rekords Rekords imprint and label partner Domino.

Queens Of The Stone Age will be available on CD (REK001CD), double vinyl LP (REK001LP) and via digital download (REK001D). Pre-orders for the vinyl or CD formats will receive an instantly available digital download of the full record.

Queens Of The Stone Age is commemorating the upcoming reissue with a limited series of intimate shows at which the band will play the record in its entirety, plus B-sides and other rarities and hits from the early Queens catalogue up to the present. The tour kicks off March 16 in Austin TX and will now conclude with a just-added second Los Angeles show on April 13, the day after which Queens will appear on CONAN. At press time, the tour was nearly completely sold out, with tickets remaining for only four dates (Omaha, Des Moines, St. Louis and Kansas City).

The genesis of Queens Of The Stone Age-the band and this first album-goes back to the 1995 dissolution of the criminally overlooked Kyuss, specifically founding guitarist Homme’s migration from the California Desert to the Pacific Northwest to work on a new project concurrent with spending time on the road as second guitarist in Screaming Trees. Homme discarded the sludgy low-end expanses of his former band for much tighter song structure (for the most part) and honest-to-goodness capital ‘H’ hooks and what was originally christened Gamma Ray was quickly changed to Queens Of The Stone Age shortly after its 1996 birth.

Homme returned to his old stomping grounds and reunited with latter day Kyuss drummer Alfredo Hernandez to record as a fake trio (bass player “Carlo Von Sexron” is a nom-de-boom for Homme) and QOTSA came into full bloom, releasing the original version of this first album in 1998. If this re-issue doesn’t document “hour zero,” it’s only a few minutes past. “Regular John” introduces Homme as a smooth and assured vocalist with great melodic instinct. Tracks like “Avon” and “Walkin On Sidewalks” lock into heavy riffs that are in entrancing in their repetition and subtle shifts. And it’s hard to believe that insistently catchy “How To Handle A Rope” didn’t make a greater impact on mainstream radio upon its initial release.

The Rekords Rekords/Domino re-issue has been fully remastered from the original tapes and expanded by three tracks: “The Bronze” and “These Aren’t the Droids Your Looking For” from the  long out of print 1998 QOTSA/Beaver split EP and “Spiders and Vinegaroons” from the posthumous Kyuss/QOTSA split EP. The album will be the first released via a worldwide alliance between Queens’ Joshua Homme’s own Rekords Rekords and Domino to market, promote and distribute selected titles from their catalogue.

The complete itinerary for the Queens Of The Stone Age commemorative tour is as follows:
