DEPECHE MODE: Ghosts Again (Remixes), Out Now

DEPECHE MODE

Ghosts Again (Remixes)

Eight Unique Reinterpretations of Memento Mori Lead Single Out Now

Depeche Mode has released Ghosts Again (Remixes), a collection of Martin Gore and Dave Gahan-approved reinterpretations of the Billboard Hot Trending Songs #1 and AAA, Alternative and Rock top 10 charting single from the band’s universally acclaimed 15th studio album, Memento Mori (Columbia Records). Available now across digital platforms, Ghosts Again (Remixes) showcases myriad new dimensions of the “deliciously unfussy” (Pitchfork) Memento Mori lead single hailed for “its smoldering take on the fleeting qualities of time and the illusory nature of death” (Salon).

Ghosts Again (Remixes) finds some of the most exciting names in the electronic music space covering a diverse range of sonic terrain—from the melodic techno of rising star Massano to the big Berghain vibes of a collaboration between legends Chris Liebing and Luke Slater. “I have been a big fan of Depeche Mode for so many years. They have influenced the way that I think about music and DJ,” said Liebling. “I’m extremely grateful that I could not only do another remix, but that I also got to do it with one of the biggest legends in Techno world [Luke Slater].” Slater added, “When I was a kid I was buying Depeche Mode 7-inches, the early ones. I remember that well… What I love about Depeche Mode is that over the years they have just formed a world of  themselves… They’ve kind of covered this timeless zone and I think that’s really special”

On the leftfield front, Ghosts Again (Remixes) features a deep house version from Moroccan up-and-comer Bergsonist, as well as a moody take from Matthew Herbert, who commented, “I quite liked the idea of ‘we’ll be ghosts again’… everyone vanished from the dancefloor. The idea of the temporary community that’s being built.” The release also includes experimental remixes from Chris & Cosey collaborator Nik Colk Void, Rival Consoles and Miss Grit, as well as Davide Rossi who recorded strings for Memento Mori and contributes an ethereal strings-only version here. “I wanted to do this [remix] as a tribute to my love for the band,” Rossi said. “I am so thrilled that they decided to keep it and release it.”

The complete track listing for Ghosts Again (Remixes) is:
1. Ghosts Again Massano Remix
2. Ghosts Again Chris Liebing vs Luke Slater Remix
3. Ghosts Again Miss Grit Remix
4. Ghosts Again Rival Consoles Remix
5. Ghosts Again Matthew Herbert’s Feelings Remix
6. Ghosts Again Davide Rossi Strings Remix
7. Ghosts Again Bergsonist’s Shadow Mix
8. Ghosts Again Nik Colk Void Remix

“Ghosts Again” has been a nightly highlight of Depeche Mode’s current Memento Mori World Tour, receiving rapturous reactions from capacity crowds on every stop of the tour’s recently wrapped North American first leg—which has received unanimous raves, with select critical notices including:

“Gahan and Gore delivered the show their fans hungered for… The visuals to complement each track were haunting, vivid and surreal… could’ve gone on for a few more hours and the crowd of diehards would’ve signed up for it, no questions asked.” — Consequence

“Depeche Mode demonstrated the power of rebirth” — Sacramento Bee

“The Memento Mori Tour will offer Depeche Mode fans a moment to reflect on our collective mortality, remember the ones we have lost, and continue to celebrate life – a mission that is deftly in-tune with the current zeitgeist.” — Sacramento News & Review

“Darkly mesmerizing evening of music” — Mercury News

“Death-defying evening… a gutsy two-hour performance” — Los Angeles Times

“Depeche Mode deliver the latest and greatest in a thrilling show in Inglewood… Surely melancholy has never felt as a good as it did at the end of Depeche Mode‘s main set at the Kia Forum” — OC Register

“A Depeche Mode concert manages to straddle that line between digging deep into its four-decade catalog and not feeling like a legacy act… no signs of slowing down… When you’re timeless like them, there’s no reason for it to end.” — Variety

“’Ghosts Again’—a warm, mid-tempo charmer… nestled in amongst the band’s classics, as if a space had always existed for it.” — Las Vegas Weekly

“The band’s sound was just as big, a low-end rumble of keyboards and drums that could be felt as much as heard on the floor of the arena, with a pulse that hit you in the chest.” — San Antonio Express News

“Time continues to prove Depeche Mode one of the most influential and visionary groups in pop-music history… Gahan and Gore played with a passion, focus and spirit that suggested they knew their history was still being written.” — Chicago Tribune

“A beautiful, life-affirming display of a band that, 43 years in, still has so much left to give… Incredible” — Chicago Sun-Times

“Jubilant celebration… a deft balance between melancholy and joy which ran an emotional gamut.” — Forbes

“Dave Gahan and Martin Gore… bristled with vitality while facing mortality head-on” — Billboard

Depeche Mode is currently gearing up for the next phase of the Memento Mori World Tour, a run of Europe/UK stadium dates beginning May 16th in Amsterdam. The band will return to North America for the tour’s third leg, which kicks off September 21st with the first of a trio of shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol stadium, and concludes with a series of four Los Angeles shows taking place December 10th and 12th at the Kia Forum and December 15th and 17th at the Crypto.com Arena.

METALLICA: ASL VIDEOS NOW LIVE FOR 72 SEASONS

METALLICA

ASL VIDEOS NOW LIVE FOR EVERY SONG ON 72 SEASONS

On April 15, Metallica marked National ASL Day with the announcement of a partnership with the Deaf Professional Arts Network (DPAN) and Amber G Productions teams to release every music video for every song from the band’s new 72 Seasons album in American Sign Language. The news was accompanied by the first of these ASL videos, for the title track, “72 Seasons.”

Today, April 25, with the posting of the 11 remaining songs from 72 Seasons on video with lyrics and ASL, Metallica becomes not only first rock band to release an entire album in ASL, but the first band to release official videos side by side with an ASL interpreter.

The 72 Seasons full album ASL video release is the result of Metallica’s connecting with Amber Galloway of AG Productions, whose team is known for signing at several music festivals the band has headlined, including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and The Deaf Professional Arts Network (DPAN), a 501c3 non profit organization founded in 2006 by deaf musician Sean Forbes and music producer Joel Martin to make music accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing community.

“As a deaf musician, who has been a huge fan of Metallica my entire life, it is an absolute honor to work with the band and Amber G Productions to make an entire album of their songs accessible in American Sign Language,” said Sean Forbes. “It is our hope that more bands, artists, performers, will follow the example set by Metallica and make their music accessible in American Sign Language. There is an entire community of deaf music fans that are ready to experience more music and Metallica doing this speaks volumes to the deaf and signing communities”

“Metallica has shown the world what access and inclusiveness can look like,” said Amber Galloway. “Often times hearing individuals think that captioning a music video is sufficient. Sadly text does not show intonations, it doesn’t show the emotional connection that ASL does. These videos also capture the voices of the instruments.”

FOO FIGHTERS: BUT HERE WE ARE, New Album Out June 2

FOO FIGHTERS
BUT HERE WE ARE
New Album Out June 2
First Single “Rescued”
Available Now

Following a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances, Foo Fighters return with But Here We Are, out June 2 on Roswell Records/RCA Records.

A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year, But Here We Are is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, But Here We Are opens with newly released lead single “Rescued,” the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between.

Produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, But Here We Are is in nearly equal measure the 11th Foo Fighters album and the first chapter of the band’s new life. Sonically channelling the naiveté of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.

But Here We Are is available for preorder now, with all preorders including “Rescued” as an instant grat. The album’s track list is as follows:

Rescued
Under You
Hearing Voices
But Here We Are
The Glass

RAMMSTEIN ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE “SEHNSUCHT ANNIVERSARY EDITION”

RAMMSTEIN ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE SEHNSUCHT ANNIVERSARY EDITION

RE-RELEASE OF SEHNSUCHT ON 06.09.2023 AS LIMITED “ANNIVERSARY EDITION” FOR THE FIRST TIME ON CD IN HD-SOUND INCL. NEW, EXCLUSIVE MIX OF “SPIEL MIT MIR” (PLAY WITH ME)

Dark. Disturbing. Different. Deutsch.

For the six Berliners there is a certain way of doing things. The kind that has made their band and their brand a worldwide phenomenon, an award-winning, multi-platinum record-breaking collective unlike anything else.

Following the release of their debut album Herzeleid (‘Heartbreak’) as ‘Limited Anniversary Edition” it is time to revisit RAMMSTEIN’s sophomore album Sehnsucht (‘Longing’), originally released in August 1997, effectively announced the arrival of the six onto the global stage. Sehnsucht (‘Longing’) peaked at Number 1 on the German and Austrian charts, also going Top 50 in the US (it stands as the only fully-German album to be certified platinum Stateside).

26 years and a new century on, it’s clear that Sehnsucht – another 11-tracker like Herzeleid, indeed like all of the studio outings has lost none of its initial power. From opener, ‘Sehnsucht’ itself, to the aforementioned ‘Du hast’ or the follow up ‘Engel’, through to closing number, ‘Küss mich (Fellfrosch)’ (‘Kiss me (Fur Frog))’, Rammstein’s sophomore release sees the founding members spectacularly hitting their stride, making greater use of electronics and samples, as well as the melodic side of Till Lindemann’s considerable vocal range.

That signature R-R-Rammstein Sound has been given an added boost now – Remastered in HD sound for the first time on CD for the ‘Anniversary Edition’ of an album that can rightfully be termed ‘iconic’. This 2023 version exclusively includes a new mix of the track ‘Spiel mit mir’, and comes in a selection of exclusive, elaborately packaged formats: CD, MC, Digital, plus a pair of double LPs, one black vinyl, the other white.

To millions heroes, to others villains, there’s no question that Sehnsucht – the band’s first official release in the US – was the album that fully shaped who Rammstein were, what they sounded like and what they stood for. Sehnsucht underlined in red pen just how intriguing, and singular, they really were, and just where that collective mind was prepared to go, starting with the sleeve itself.

Tracklisting:

  1. Sehnsucht
  2. Engel
  3. Tier
  4. Bestrafe mich
  5. Du hast
  6. Bück dich
  7. Spiel mit mir
  8. Klavier
  9. Alter Mann
  10. Eifersucht
  11. Küss mich (Fellfrosch)
  12. Spiel mit mir (2023 Mix)

Paul Simon Returns With Highly Anticipated Musical Work, Seven Psalms

Paul Simon Returns With Highly Anticipated Musical Work, Seven Psalms

Available In Its Entirety on LP, CD and Digital May 19

Paul Simon, who has consistently crafted some of the most influential and enduring work in the history of music, has announced the release of his highly anticipated musical work, Seven Psalms. Intended to be listened to as one continuous piece, the 33-minute, seven-movement composition transcends the concept of the “album” and will be released in its entirety on vinyl, CD and across digital platforms on May 19.

Recorded entirely on acoustic instruments, and predominantly performed by Paul, Seven Psalms showcases Simon’s craft at its finest and most captivating, simply with his voice and guitar.

A stunning, intricately layered work, it’s a record which establishes an engaging and meditative, almost hymnal soundscape, with Paul’s lyrics providing the gravitational center for constellations of sound woven from guitar strings and other acoustic instrumentation – including choral elements from the highly-regarded British vocal ensemble VOCES8, and a beautiful vocal appearance by Edie Brickell.

Watch here for a glimpse into Paul’s inspiration and process in finding Seven Psalms.

True to the origin of psalms as hymns meant to be sung rather than spoken, Seven Psalms reaches back to the very genesis of folk music: King David’s Psalms. The result is a quietly moving musical experience which uncovers a wealth of subtle details with every repeated listen. A step apart from anything Paul Simon has released before, Seven Psalms defies categorization.

The record’s tone is complemented by its artwork, which features a close-up extract of “Two Owls” by the celebrated landscape artist Thomas Moran.

Produced by Paul Simon and Kyle Crusham, Seven Psalms is a single suite of music comprised of the following seven interlinked movements:

1. The Lord
2. Love Is Like A Braid
3. My Professional Opinion
4. Your Forgiveness
5. Trail of Volcanoes
6. The Sacred Harp
7. Wait

Seven Psalms will be released in its entirety May 19th on vinyl LP, CD and across digital platforms via Owl Records and Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.

GHOST: FIVE-SONG COVERS EP, PHANTOMIME, OUT MAY 18

GHOST
PHANTOMIME
FIVE-SONG COVERS EP OUT MAY 18
“JESUS HE KNOWS ME” TRACK & VIDEO OUT NOW

New Webisode Chapter 17: Nap Time Live Now

Fresh off winning Best Rock Album of the Year at the iHeart Radio Music Awards, Ghost announces the coming of PHANTOMIME, a five-song covers EP intended from the start to follow last year’s international chart-topping opus IMPERA. A diverse and spellbinding sampling of the GRAMMY Award-winning band’s musical DNA, PHANTOMIME is comprised of covers of classics and deep cuts by Television, Genesis, The Stranglers, Iron Maiden and Tina Turner. PHANTOMIME pays tribute in equal measure to every one of these unlikely bedfellow, influences while stamping them all with Ghost’s undeniable sonic signature.

The announcement of PHANTOMIME’s impending release also solves the mystery of Ghost’s recent “Jesus Is Coming” campaign, as referenced in the Good Friday premiere of the newest installment of the band’s long-running webisode series, Chapter 17: Nap Time. PHANTOMIME’s May 18 release via Loma Vista Recordings is heralded by Ghost’s interpretation of Genesis’ 1992 satirical stab at televangelists “Jesus He Knows Me,” available now to stream and download, and as an instant grat track with pre-orders of the EP.

This second coming of “Jesus He Knows Me” is accompanied by an Alex Ross Perry-directed video that will surely make the case that one person’s beauty is another’s blasphemy. Culminating in a climactic ritual that must be seen to be believed, Ghost’s visual interpretation of “Jesus He Knows Me” rises to the occasion in unholy fashion — and then some. Viewer discretion is advised.

The Easter Sunday release of the “Jesus He Knows Me” track and video continues two established Ghost traditions: 1) Following up the release of a full length studio album with uniquely Ghost-ified cover versions, past efforts having included reinterpretations of favorites by Abba, The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Roky Erickson, Eurythmics, Metallica, Pet Shop Boys and many more; and 2) Challenging, confronting and upending societal conventions and authority figures, often taking on specific antagonists — in this case, Father Jim DeFroque, host of the evangelical radio show Jesus Talk with Father Jim DeFroque on KLAQ in El Paso TX — and also star of the “Jesus He Knows Me” video.

The complete track listing for PHANTOMIME is as follows:

“See No Evil” (Television)
“Jesus He Knows Me” (Genesis)
“Hanging Around” (The Stranglers)
“Phantom of the Opera” (Iron Maiden)
“We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)” (Tina Turner)

PHANTOMIME’s release will coincide with Ghost’s first live dates of 2023, beginning with a May/June European run of festival and headline dates including appearances at Primavera Sound 2023 where the band will share a bill with Blur, Depeche Mode, Halsey and Kendrick Lamar, among others, and Sweden Rock Festival 2023, where Ghost will be one of four headliners alongside Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and Motley Crue. Ghost will then make its triumphant return to North America, for its RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023  kicks off August 2nd in Concord, CA, with stops in more than two dozen cities before its two-night finale the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 11th and — recently added by popular demand — September 12th.

METALLICA “72 SEASONS” TITLE TRACK & NEW VIDEO OUT NOW

METALLICA”72 SEASONS”
TITLE TRACK & NEW VIDEO OUT NOW
NEW ALBUM OUT APRIL 14, 2023

M72 WORLD TOUR 2023-2024
TICKETS ON SALE AT METALLICA.COM

Metallica has unveiled the title track of its forthcoming 12th studio album, 72 Seasons. A seven-and-a-half-minute opus that opens the new record, “72 Seasons” is the fourth advance offering from its namesake—following the recent release of the “epic” (Rolling Stone) “If Darkness Had A Son,” hailed by Consequence as “a sonic retrospective of (Metallica’s) career,” as well as the “scorching” (Guitar World) “Screaming Suicide” and  “thundering, breakneck” (Billboard) first single “Lux Æterna.”

“72 Seasons” sets the tone for the expansive and unrelenting 12-song, 77-minute album. The Hetfield/Ulrich/Hammett-penned epic is nothing short of an embodiment of the concept behind the new record’s title, as previously detailed in James Hetfield’s own words: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”

“72 Seasons,” the song, is available now to stream and download, and as an instant grat track with all pre-orders. 72 Seasons, the album, will be released April 14, 2023 via Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, 72 Seasons is the first new Metallica studio album since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. It will be released on 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited-edition variants, CD, digital, and in Dolby Atmos (streaming where available). For a full listing of configurations, pre-orders and further information, go to https://www.metallica.com/store/72-seasons/

Tickets are on sale now for all shows on Metallica’s M72 world tour. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, M72 will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and more. For further information on single day and two day tickets, enhanced experiences and more, go to https://www.metallica.com/tour/

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.
