NEW SOUND CITY TEASER UNVEILED

FIRST FOOTAGE FROM DAVE GROHL-DIRECTED DOC LIVE NOW AT www.soundcitymovie.com

Dave Grohl has unveiled a new glimpse of SOUND CITY, his forthcoming debut as a feature documentary director/producer. The approximately 60 seconds of footage, which can be seen at www.soundcitymovie.com, features the likes of Tom Petty, John Fogerty, Butch Vig, Mick Fleetwood, Trent Reznor and Grammy winning producer Jim Scott reminiscing and extolling the virtues of the Van Nuys CA studio and its Neve 8028 recording console on which so many legends captured the magic of their most classic albums.

Grohl was inspired to create SOUND CITY the film after purchasing that same recording console last year as Sound City announced its closing. Built in 1972, it is considered online casino by many to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment, having recorded such artists as Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, Cheap Trick, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Fear and countless other musical legends over the past 40 years.

Grohl”s personal connection to Sound City dates back over 20 years, to the 1991 recording of Nirvana”s breakthrough album, Nevermind. Selling over 30 million copies worldwide, Nevermind not only changed the entire modern musical landscape, but also forever altered the course of Grohl”s life.

Roswell Films, a division of Grohl”s Roswell Records label, will distribute the film. Key personnel involved with the film include Producer/Director Grohl; Editor Paul Crowder (Dogtown & Z Boys, Once In a Lifetime, Riding Giants); and Mark Monroe, writer of the Oscar-winning doc The Cove, as well as Once In a Lifetime and The Tillman Story. The film is also being produced in conjunction with Jim Rota, John Ramsay, and Therapy studios.

Grohl”s personal letter outlining his vision for the film as well as further information and future announcements related to the film can be found at www.soundcitymovie.com

ULTRAÍSTA

Laura Bettinson, Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker

Debut Album Out October 2 On Temporary Residence Limited

Ultraísta–the multimedia trio comprised of vocalist/artist Laura Bettinson and multi-instrumentalist/producers Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker–will see the U.S. release of its self-titled debut album October 2 on Temporary Residence Limited.

Founded in London in 2011 on a mutual love of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music, visual art, and tequila, Ultraísta has created 10 tracks of exquisitely crafted electronic kraut-pop for this phenomenal first outing.

Favoring mantras over traditional choruses and distilling their compositions to the barest essentials, the band possesses the kind of masterful control over the pure anatomy of a pop song that only comes from having played a significant role in online casinos redefining the form in the 21st century.

Evidence of the above has already leaked in the form of the tracks “Smalltalk” and “Static Light,” which can be heard and seen variously at http://www.ultraista.comhttp://www.youtube.com/user/UltraistaTVhttp://soundcloud.com/ultra1sta/and www.facebook.com/Ultraista/, among other places.

The full track listing for Ultraísta is:

1. Bad Insect
2. Gold Dayzz
3. Static Light
4. Strange Formula
5. Our Song
6. Easier
7. Smalltalk
8. Party Line
9. Wash It Over
10. You”re Out

Stay tuned for further information regarding live dates, remixes and more.

JACK WHITE: “FREEDOM AT 21″

HYPE WILLIAMS-DIRECTED VIDEO WORLD PREMIERE LIVE AT VEVO:

http://smarturl.it/freedomat21video

Jack White has unveiled “Freedom at 21,” the third video from his universally acclaimed debut record Blunderbuss (Third Man/Columbia).

Directed by Hype Williams, whose trailblazing 1990s work with 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G. and Missy Elliott defined the modern hip hop visual aesthetic–and whose more recent clips for Kanye West and Nicki Minaj expanded it that much further–“Freedom at 21” is now live at VEVO: http://smarturl.it/freedomat21video.

For his first interpretation of a Jack White song, Williams infuses his signature style with elements of classic American Grindhouse–the result being a clip that defies and smashes the conventions and boundaries of both the hip hop and rock video worlds.

For those who want to hear “Freedom at 21” played live, Jack White and his Peacocks and Buzzards continue to tour the world. See them here:

ABOUT THE FILM:

On April 2nd 2011, LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had made the conscious decision to disband one of the most celebrated and influential bands of its generation at the peak of its popularity, ensuring that the band would go out on top with the biggest and most ambitious concert of its career. The instantly sold out, near four-hour extravaganza did just that, moving the thousands in attendance to tears of joy and grief, with New York Magazine calling the event “a marvel of pure craft” and TIME magazine lamenting “we may never dance again.”  SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS is both a narrative film documenting this once-in-a-lifetime performance and an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after, and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision.

A PULSE FILMS production of a film by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace

RYAN ADAMS: LIVE AFTER DEAF VINYL BOXSET SELLS OUT ENTIRE RUN IN 8 MINUTES

MULTIPLE DIGITAL VERSIONS AVAILABLE JULY 2 VIA iTUNES & THE AMAZON MP3 STORE

Having completely sold out of all quantities of the 15-vinyl-LP 218-track box set, Pax Am has confirmed a July 2 digital release for RYAN ADAMS’ LIVE AFTER DEAF.

While the physical box set that crashed the servers of both paxamrecords.com and kungfunation.com before selling out in 8 minutes featured 218 tracks total (144 on vinyl plus 74 digital-only bonus tracks), beginning July 2 Pax Am will be offering multiple configurations via iTunes and Amazon:

* A complete digital box set including all 144 tracks from the 15 vinyl LPs and an additional 30 of the 74 bonus tracks

* The option to buy any of the 15 single-show LPs, which range in length from 8-11 tracks each

* Every one of the 174 tracks from the complete digital box set will be available for individual purchase

RYAN ADAMS’ LIVE AFTER DEAF chronicles the 15-date June 2011 UK/Europe tour that marked Ryan’s return to live performance. Sandwiched between the  completion of his acclaimed Ashes & Fire and its October 2011 release, the shows were the first of a solo acoustic tour featuring Adams performing  to arguably the best reviews of his career–The New York Times called it a “Gorgeously hushed communion… One slow, perfectly poised song after another” while the SF Weekly raved “Shows rarely get more revealing — or more engaging — than this.”  With setlists featuring tracks covering the breadth his career – from Whiskeytown through early solo landmarks Heartbreaker and Gold to the Cardinals era and about-to-be-released material from Ashes & Fire–RYAN ADAMS’ LIVE AFTER DEAF is a rare and intimate document of an artist reconnecting both with his fans and his own body of work.

Now, in celebration of its one-year-anniversary, LIVE AFTER DEAF provides fans a way to re-live that tour–or experience for the first time.

Stay tuned to paxamrecords.com for further developments.
