Foo Fighters introduce you to “The Teacher,” the epic 10-minute fourth track to be released in advance of the band’s 11th album, But Here We Are, out June 2 on Roswell Records/RCA Records.

“The Teacher” complements the primal scream of “Rescued,” the bittersweet punk/pop-tinged rock of “Under You” and the serene dream pop of “Show Me How” with a bold new dimension of Foo Fighters’ sonic identity. Both the longest song the band has ever recorded and arguably the shortest 10 minutes in rock history, “The Teacher” builds from an understated Dave Grohl and guitar intro, layering impressionistic lyrical refrains onto a series of crescendos, peaks and valleys, before saying goodbye in a blaze of audio overload. A rock epic in the truest sense, “The Teacher” is like nothing the band has done before, yet instantly identifiable as Foo Fighters.

In other previously unexplored territory for Foo Fighters, “The Teacher” scores a short film directed by multimedia artist Tony Oursler. Known since the late 1970s for his body of work spanning video, sculpture, installation, performance, and painting, Oursler came to Foo Fighters’ attention via his work with David Bowie, specifically his video for Bowie’s landmark January 2013 single “Where Are We Now?”. Featuring a guest vocal appearance by Violet Grohl, “Show Me How” is a serene dream pop number that stands in sharp contrast to its predecessors “Rescued” “and “Under You.”

“WAGGING TONGUE” VIDEO LIVE NOW
The Sacred Egg-Directed Clip Explores Dynamics of Interpersonal Communication

Depeche Mode has unveiled the starkly beautiful and intensely provocative video for “Wagging Tongue,” the second visual interpretation of a track from its universally acclaimed 15th studio album, Memento Mori (Columbia Records).

Directed by The Sacred Egg with creative direction by longtime Depeche Mode collaborator Anton Corbijn, the “Wagging Tongue” video is set in a cinematic universe where rules governing interpersonal communication are strict and surreal. “Wagging Tongue” tells the story a young couple from a small remote village who join their neighbors for a confrontational ritual—one that draws in participants from all walks of life: lawyers, businessmen, priests, policemen, even Martin Gore and Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode.

The Gore/Gahan co-written “Wagging Tongue” has been a nightly highlight of Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori World Tour, currently in the midst of a Europe/UK stadium run that began May 16th in Amsterdam. The band will return to North America for the tour’s third leg, which kicks off September 21st with the first of a trio of shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol stadium, and concludes with a series of four Los Angeles shows taking place December 10th and 12th at the Kia Forum and December 15th and 17th at the Crypto.com Arena.

The release of PHANTOMIME has been preceded by this week’s release of Ghost’s faithful cover of Iron Maiden’s “Phantom of the Opera” and last month’s reveal of its interpretation of Genesis’ “Jesus He Knows Me.” Described by Revolver as “something special for your Easter basket” and by Stereogum as “a fitting release for this particular Easter Sunday,” the Instagram-trending “Jesus He Knows Me” has generated some 10 million streams worldwide and cracked the Rock Radio Top 20 within weeks of its release.

PHANTOMIME was conceived to follow last year’s international chart-topping opus IMPERA. A revelatory sampling of the GRAMMY winners’ musical DNA, PHANTOMIME is comprised of covers of classics and deep cuts by Television, Genesis, The Stranglers, Iron Maiden and Tina Turner. PHANTOMIME pays tribute in equal measure to every one of these diverse influences, while stamping them all with Ghost’s undeniable sonic signature.

Ghost will then make its triumphant return to North America, for its RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023  kicks off August 2nd in Concord, CA, with stops in more than two dozen cities before its two-night finale the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 11th and — recently added by popular demand — September 12th.

blur will release their first album in 8 years, titled The Ballad of Darren and comprising 10 new tracks, on July 21st on Parlophone. First track ‘The Narcissist’ is out now, watch visualizer here. 

Produced by James Ford and recorded at Studio 13, London and Devon, The Ballad of Darren is the band’s ninth studio album, their first since the chart-topping The Magic Whip in 2015, with artwork featuring an image by British photographer Martin Parr.

Damon Albarn said – “This is an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now.”

Dave Rowntree said – “It always feels very natural to make music together. With every record we do, the process reveals something new and we develop as a band. We don’t take that for granted.”

Today’s surprise announcement comes ahead of the band’s return to the place where it all began – Colchester, Essex*– for their first ever performance at local landmark Colchester Arts Centre tomorrow, marking the start of a short run of warm-up performances which will see blur visit Eastbourne Winter Gardens on May 21st, The Halls Wolverhampton on May 26th and O2 City Hall Newcastle on May 28th.

These warm-up dates are kicking off a summer of highly-anticipated live shows which will bring Alex James, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree together again to perform their iconic and much-loved songs across Europe over the coming months. The band’s first ever show at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday July 8th sold out in minutes – with a second Wembley Stadium show added for Sunday July 9th.

RAMMSTEIN RELEASE NEW “SPIEL MIT MIR” MIX AND PRESENT THEIR ICONIC “DU HAST” VIDEO FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 4K

Today, May 12th, an exclusive, impressive new mix of one of the most famous and controversial Rammstein songs ever will be released digitally: “Spiel mit mir (2023 Mix)” from the 1997 Rammstein masterpiece Sehnsucht is also part of the remastered “Sehnsucht Anniversary Edition” as a bonus track, which will be released on June 6th. 

On May 17th, the new mix will also be released on a limited edition white 7″ vinyl with “Du hast”, one of the band’s most popular singles, available for pre-order from May 12th. The pre-order launch will be accompanied by a remastered 4k Hi-res version of the groundbreaking video for “Du hast”.

With over 500 million views, the clip, released on July 18, 1997, is still one of the most popular Rammstein videos ever. Even more spectacular that this iconic masterpiece will be available to watch from May 12th remastered as a 4k Hi-res version. The original film rolls were used for the remastering process of the video. With their second album Sehnsucht, released in August 1997, Rammstein achieved their international breakthrough. Not least due to “Du hast”, with which the band reached the Top 20 in the USA and even the Top 2 of the charts in Canada. To this day, “Spiel mit mir”, “Du hast” and many other Sehnsucht songs are still an essential part of Rammstein’s live shows.

First Single “Emotion Sickness” Available Now

Queens of the Stone Age have announced their long-awaited 8th studio album, In Times New Roman… out June 16th on Matador. 
 
In Times New Roman… is raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart. And yet, it’s perhaps the most beautiful and definitely the most rewarding album in their epic discography. Founder Joshua Homme’s most acerbic lyrics to date are buoyed by the instantly identifiable QOTSA sonic signature, expanded and embellished with new and unprecedented twists in virtually every song.With In Times New Roman… we see that sometimes one needs to look beneath scars and scabs to see beauty, and sometimes the scabs and scars are the beauty. 

Feeling a bit out of place, and having difficulty finding music they could relate to, the members of QOTSA did as they are wont to do:  In Times New Roman… is the sound of a band creating the music its own members want to hear, while giving the rest of us a sonic forum in which to congregate. “The world’s gonna end in a month or two,” sings Homme, begging the question: What do you want to do with the time you’ve got left? Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore may not be able to save us, but they’re giving us a place to ride it out. 
 
The first offering from In Times New Roman… is “Emotion Sickness,” which wraps listeners in a warm blanket of patented QOTSA hypnotic choruses and off kilter grooves—punctuated by tinges of psychic turbulence. The past few years have been tough on everyone, and it’s no secret the members of QOTSA have endured their share of heartbreak and loss. But whom amongst us hasn’t dealt with a recent bout (or two) of emotion sickness? In Times New Roman… was recorded and mixed at Homme’s own Pink Duck (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens of the Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin.
