Over the past week, Paul has introduced us to three nightshift workers who all share a love of dancing to ‘Come On To Me’, the latest track to be taken from his new studio album ‘Egypt Station’ (Capitol Records).

We’ve met Fred “Little Freddie” Maxwell (#COTMTeamFred) who loves hijacking the in-store sound system at the department store where he works as a security guard; Ali Almohri (#COTMTeamAli) who works at his family’s food truck hoping that one day the young woman he has a crush on will notice he’s looking for more than just casual conversation; and Elsa Morales (#COTMTeamElsa) who works two jobs to support her family whilst still managing to radiate good energy and be the epitome of positivity.

It may be a surprise to hear that Fred, Ali and Elsa are not professional dancers / actors – they were found by director TG Herrington, getting their acting debuts by sheer force of enthusiasm. 
 
Paul now invites fans to film themselves dancing to ‘Come On To Me’ and to post videos to Instagram and Twitter using #COTMChallenge.

Currently on his worldwide Freshen Up Tour, Paul returns to the U.S in May 2019 for a string of U.S. shows beginning in New Orleans, LA.  

Egypt Station was released in September and saw Paul score his first US #1 album in 36 years.

Luscious Jackson founding member Jill Cunniff’s first exhibition of original artwork, Lyric and Word Paintings, was a resounding success. Opening with a Thursday, September 20th acoustic show by Jill and friends, the exhibit lasted through Sunday, September 23rd at 198 Allen Street in New York City, drawing hundreds of people and selling more than a dozen paintings.

“Having an art show has been a dream of mine since I started painting as a teenager,” Jill commented. “The experience of performing music in this beautiful space full of art was seriously exciting! It was great to see and interact with all the people who came to the opening. I loved doing the Q and A during the concert, where I talked about the process of making art and how it relates to writing music. We ended up selling 14 paintings. I can’t wait to do another show when my next bunch of paintings are done.”

Known the world over for his work as guitarist and founding member of Blur as well as his solo ventures including the recent score to the acclaimed cult hit Netflix series The End of the F***ing World, Graham Coxon has confirmed his first ever series of one-man shows in North America.

The tour will consist of 10 intimate dates beginning September 19th at the Mod Club in Toronto and concluding October 1st at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles. Graham will perform all shows completely solo, playing material spanning his eight solo records and his debut as a soundtrack/score composer, the aforementioned The End of the F***ing World.

Prior to the Canada and U.S. shows, Graham will appear at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-Under-Lyme in the UK September 17th. For information on that show, go to: http://www.newvictheatre.org.uk/productions/graham-coxon/.

While he made his name as guitar player for Blur, Graham has also played saxophone and drums on many Blur tracks. He composed 1997’s “You’re So Great,” as well as much of the band’s 1999 hit single “Coffee & TV,” which he also sang. More recently, Graham produced (alongside Stephen Street) Blur’s 2015 album The Magic Whip, which debuted at #1 in the UK album chart.

Graham has released eight solo albums: 
The Sky is Too High (1998), The Golden D (2000), Crow Sit On Blood Tree (2001), The Kiss Of Morning (2002), Happiness In Magazines (2004), Love Travels At Illegal Speeds (2006), The Spinning Top (2009) and A+E (2012).

Luscious Jackson founding member Jill Cunniff will showcase a new dimension of her many talents with her first exhibition of original artwork, Lyric and Word Paintings. The exhibition will run from Thursday, September 20th through Sunday, September 23rd at 198 Allen Street in New York City.

The opening night event will take place 7-10 pm on September 20th and will include a one night only acoustic set by Jill, performing songs spanning the Luscious Jackson catalogue, as well as from her 2007 solo album, City Beach.

Commenting on the inspiration and process behind her paintings, Jill explained: “I’ve been painting my whole life. As a teenager, I used to paint and write songs kind of like a hand off, switching between the two over the course of an afternoon. I listen to music when I am doing artwork; it’s a big part of the process. I’m influenced by New York City’s streets and the posters and writings that pile up on top of each other, creating layers of color and text. I came of age in 1980s downtown NYC when graffiti and hip-hop met punk. Later, I was introduced to the work of Bay Area Figurative artists while studying painting at U.C. Berkeley, and their glowing landscapes also had a deep influence. So my paintings have elements that are both hectic and serene.”

Jill Cunniff co-founded Luscious Jackson in 1991. The band’s unique and streetwise blend of punk, funk, and the various musical and cultural styles of its native NYC emerged via Beastie Boys’ Grand Royal label with the 1992 Village Voice Pazz & Jop Best EP winner In Search Of Manny. Debut album Natural Ingredients was released in 1994, featuring the single “Here.” Luscious Jackson’s sophomore album Fever In Fever Out dropped in 1996, including the hit “Naked Eye” and earning the band its first gold record. Album number three, 1999’s Electric Honey (featuring “Ladyfingers”), preceded Luscious Jackson’s 2000 break-up. During that lengthy hiatus, Jill was a songwriter for other artists, produced the house music group Cooler Kids, and released her 2007 solo album, City Beach. In 2013, Jill resumed her role as vocalist, bass player and principle songwriter of Luscious Jackson for the band’s long awaited fourth album, Magic Hour.

The collaboration has resulted in two new remixes of ‘Humility to soundtrack the heatwave. Zeitgeist-surfing music collective Superorganism infuse the song with their indie-pop magic alongside a new visual remix of the Jamie Hewlett-directed video featuring Superorganism frontwoman Orono. And joining the party is underground superstar DJ Koze, with his own unique spin on the track.

The original – featuring Jamie Principle and George Benson,  “…his beautiful liquid guitar elevating excellent single Humility.” (The Guardian) – was released last month as the first single from Gorillaz’ brand new studio album The Now Now,

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds today share their extraordinary performance of the song ‘Distant Sky’ from the forthcoming live EP ‘Distant Sky – Live In Copenhagen’.  The EP is available for pre-order now and will be released on September 28th. The band were joined on the track by Danish soprano Else Torp.

For one night only in April of this year, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds screened their Copenhagen Royal Arena show in cinemas worldwide. Filmed in October 2017, Distant Sky captured a triumphant live concert from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, performing new album Skeleton Tree’s beautiful compositions alongside songs from their essential catalogue. Now, they release a special EP of audio from that show.

Following the previous three weeks’ reveals of Hot 100 charting single and #1 Global Trending Video on YouTube ‘Humility’ and tracks ‘Lake Zurich’, ‘Sorcererz’ and ‘Fire Flies’, Gorillaz have hit up fans with another album highlight: ‘Hollywood’ – the latest and last album cut to be made available prior to the release of The Now Now. Recorded as a demo in a West Hollywood hotel room whilst on tour last year, the track features special guest Jamie Principle  – on tour with Gorillaz at the time – plus LA resident and longtime Gorillaz friend and collaborator, Snoop Dogg.

Produced by Gorillaz, with James Ford and Remi Kabaka, The Now Now was recorded entirely this February at Studio 13, London, and will be released June 29th on Warner Bros. Records.

Gorillaz will play The Now Now live – for the first time – this weekend in Tokyo, Japan. Watch on Sunday, 24th June at 8pm BST to experience the show with a unique cominbination of sound and visuals. Streamed in cooperation with Boiler Room and available on demand for 24 hours only.

Tickets are now on sale for Gorillaz’ eagerly awaited return to North America following 2017’s triumphant Humanz Tour. The North American leg of The Now Now Tour kicks off October 8th in Toronto, and makes stops in Montreal, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Chicago.

The grand finale of Gorillaz 2018 jaunt is Demon Dayz LA, the inaugural U.S. staging of the band’s own Demon Dayz festival, taking place Saturday, October 20th at Pico Rivera Sports Arena & Grounds in Los Angeles.

Headlined by Gorillaz’ only west coast appearance of 2018 and featuring special guests Erykah Badu, The Internet, DRAM and more, Demon Dayz LA promises an experience like no other: Two stages worth of special guests and collaborators from within and beyond the Gorillaz extended family, plus an assortment of surprises, attractions, exclusive merchandise and more—all combining to create an auditory, visual and physical version of the Gorillaz universe for fans to explore.

Paul McCartney invites you on a musical journey to Egypt Station, estimated time of arrival September 7, 2018 by way of Capitol Records.

Sharing a title with one of Paul’s own paintings, Egypt Station is the first full album of all-new McCartney music since 2013’s international chart-topping NEW. Preceded by two of its tracks just released as double A-sides–plaintive ballad  “I Don’t Know” and raucous stomper  “Come On To Me”—Egypt Station was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of one track) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters).

Of the forthcoming album’s enigmatic title, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make.., Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

True to the inspiration behind its title, Egypt Station’s 14 songs combine to convey a unique travelogue vibe. Between the opening and closing instrumentals “Station I” and “Station II,” each song finds Paul capturing a place or moment before transporting the listener seamlessly to the next destination. Stops along the way include an acoustic meditation on present day contentedness (“Happy With You”), a timeless anthem that would fit on virtually any album of any McCartney era (“People Want Peace”), and an epic multi-movement closer clocking in at seven minutes with a song suite structure harkening back to the days of Paul’s previous combos (“Despite Repeated Warnings”). The result is a kaleidoscopic journey through myriad musical locales and eras, yet firmly rooted in the here and now–with Paul’s singular unmistakeable melodic sensibility serving as guide.

Confirmation of Egypt Station’s release puts an end to speculation about a new Paul McCartney album that began with the whiting out of his Instagram account as Paul turned up at various landmarks in Liverpool. The capper was a June 9 surprise gig at Liverpool’s tiny Philharmonic Pub, during which “Come On To Me” was debuted alongside a set of classics spanning Paul’s career. Further details to come…
