BAND OF HORSES INFINITE ARMS DEBUTS AT #7

OVER 45K SOLD FIRST WEEK

APPEARING ON THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON MAY 27

MARK PELLINGTON-DIRECTED “LAREDO” VIDEO IN PRODUCTION

Summer Dates Added in Nashville, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Columbia

“Even when he’s singing about zoning out on the couch, it feels Grand Canyon expansive”–ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“mellow but grand, pretty but ballsy… The woodsy and spacious songs start as wispy acoustic things but blossom into electric storms”–GQ

“pure, polished AM-radio gold”–NYLON

Infinite Arms, Band of Horses’ third full length LP and first for Brown/Fat Possum/Columbia, has sold over 45,000 records in the week following its May 18 release, debuting at #7 on the U.S. album chart.

Infinite Arms also debuted #2 in Norway, top 10 in Canada, top 20 in Australia and New Zealand, making an impressive international showing overall.

The band’s career chart high to date comes in the wake of a North American tour supporting Pearl Jam, during which BOH’s Ben Bridwell joined the headliners for multiple encores of “All Along The Watchtower” as well as a climactic and rarely played  version of Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” at Madison Square Garden.

Band of Horses has been anything but inactive since wrapping those dates, appearing May 27 on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, days after sneaking in a stripped down acoustic set at the Masonic Lodge at L.A.’s Hollywood Forever cemetery. The band has also knocked out electric sets from the Roxy to Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, and filmed a video for first single “Laredo” with Mark Pellington in Pioneertown CA—where they fit in an impromptu May 23 set at Pappy & Harriet’s.

Additionally, Band of Horses has contributed the unavailable elsewhere “Life On Earth” to the upcoming Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, and will be adding a leg of July dates to a globe-spanning 2010 tour that will include some of its biggest headlining shows to date from New York’s Williamsburg Waterfront to the Greek Theaters of Los Angeles and Berkeley.

A current list of dates is below, with many more to be announced very soon. Visit www.bandofhorses.com for ticketing information.

Band of Horses is Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds.

RA RA RIOT THE ORCHARD SOPHOMORE ALBUM OUT AUGUST 24TH ON BARSUK

Syracuse NY’s most internationally beloved export Ra Ra Riot will issue its second full length album, The Orchard, August 24 on Barsuk in the U.S. International release dates will be confirmed and announced shortly.

Produced by Ra Ra Riot and Andrew Maury and mixed by Chris Walla (with one assist from Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij), The Orchard is 10 more stunning offerings of the bittersweet and endearing Ra Ra Riot blend that Entertainment Weekly likened to “Unforgettable Fire-era U2.”

The Orchard’s full track listing is:

1. The Orchard
2. Boy
3. Too Dramatic
4. Foolish
5. Massachusetts
6. You and I Know
7. Shadowcasting
8. Do You Remember
9. Kansai
10. Keep It Quiet

The Orchard follows up Ra Ra Riot’s debut album, The Rhumb Line, released two years earlier (almost to the day) and immediately hailed as “a blissful chamber-pop breakthrough” in a 4-star Rolling Stone review (who named it the #38 album of 2008), and by Time Out New York as “classically pretty, but without getting all fussy about it.”  The Rhumb Line debuted at #109 on the U.S. album chart and went on to sell in excess of 60,000 copies as the band’s live draw grew exponentially.

Ra Ra Riot is vocalist Wes Miles, bassist Mathieu Santos, guitarist Milo Bonacci, violinist Rebecca Zeller and cellist Alexandra Lawn. The Orchard marks the band’s first time the band has been joined in the studio by drummer Gabriel Duquette, who has toured with the band since the release of The Rhumb Line.

Library of Congress Announces Gershwin Prize for Popular Song To Sir Paul McCartney

PBS to Broadcast All-Star White House Concert July 28

Librarian of Congress James H. Billington announced today that the third Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song will be presented to Sir Paul McCartney at a special concert in the East Room of the White House on June 2, 2010.

The program, to be taped by WETA Washington, D.C., as part of the “In Performance at the White House” series, will air on PBS stations nationwide on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 8 p.m. EDT (check local listings) as “Paul McCartney: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song In Performance at the White House.”

The concert will feature a tribute by major stars, many of whom will perform the songs that propelled McCartney to legendary status in music and humanitarianism around the world. The lineup of performers includes Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Jonas Brothers, Dave Grohl, Jack White, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae and remarks by Jerry Seinfeld.

The Gershwin Prize for Popular Song was created by the Library of Congress to honor artists whose creative output transcends distinctions between musical styles and idioms, bringing diverse listeners together, and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.

“Sir Paul has been writing and performing for more than five decades-as a member of iconic groups and as a solo artist-in genres ranging from rock ‘n’ roll to classical compositions,” said Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, who selected Sir Paul McCartney for the honor in November 2009. “But he also has made an impact far beyond music through his humanitarianism and activism around the world, which are emblematic of the spirit of the Gershwin Prize.”

The prize commemorates George and Ira Gershwin, the legendary American songwriting team whose extensive manuscript collections reside in the Library of Congress. The prize is awarded to musicians whose lifetime contributions in the field of popular song exemplify the standard of excellence associated with the Gershwins. Paul Simon in 2007 received the first Gershwin Prize, while Stevie Wonder in 2009 received the second.

Details about McCartney’s illustrious career can be found here.

“In Performance at the White House” is a music series distributed for national television broadcast by PBS and produced since its inception in 1978 by WETA Washington, D.C. WETA, the flagship public broadcaster in the nation’s capital, created the series to showcase the rich fabric of American culture in the setting of the nation’s most famous home. Throughout the years, the series has embraced virtually every genre of American performance from pop, country, gospel, jazz, and blues to theatre and dance.

The creators and executive producers of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song are Peter and Bob Kaminsky, Mark Krantz, Cappy McGarr and Dalton Delan; the Kaminskys, Krantz and McGarr are also the creators and executive producers of the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, now in its 13th year. Dalton Delan and David S. Thompson are executive producers for WETA Washington, D.C.

In making the selection for the prize, the Librarian of Congress turned for advice to leading members of the music and entertainment communities. The advisory committee consisted of Rickey Minor, Carol Bayer Sager, Paul Simon, Jimmy Webb, and Paul Williams. In previous years the Librarian has consulted with advisers from a diverse cross section of popular culture including Lorne Michaels, Allen Toussaint and Phil Ramone.

Given the Library’s long association with the Gershwin family and the profound effect the brothers had in the evolution of American music, it is fitting that the Library memorialize this relationship in the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.

The Library of Congress is home to the George and Ira Gershwin Collection, the world’s preeminent resource for the documentary legacy of the Gershwin brothers. It contains a wealth of materials that provide insight into their careers and personalities, including manuscripts and printed music, photographs, correspondence, business papers, scrapbooks and iconography. The Gershwin Room-a permanent tribute to the Gershwins and their work-features George’s piano and desk, Ira’s typing table and typewriter, self-portraits of both brothers and a selection of musical manuscripts from Gershwin stage and screen shows such as “Lady Be Good,” “Funny Face,” “Girl Crazy” and “Of Thee I Sing.” Many of the Library’s rich resources can be accessed through www.loc.gov and via interactive exhibitions on a personalized website at myLOC.gov.

COHEED AND CAMBRIA NEW AMORY WARS TITLE IN KEEPING SECRETS OF SILENT EARTH: 3 TO DEBUT MAY 26 AS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT U.S. TOUR WINDS DOWN WITH CENTRAL PARK SHOW

Coheed and Cambria continue a banner year-one that has seen Year Of The Black Rainbow debut at a career high #5 on the Billboard 200-with the May 26 debut of vocalist/guitarist/lyricist Claudio Sanchez’s newest installment of the Amory Wars comics series, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3. That same date will mark the climax of the biggest headline tour of the band’s nine-year existence: a sold out homecoming play Wednesday May 26 at Rumsey Playfield in New York’s Central Park. The show, which is one of the last few of the band’s completely sold out North American trek, will be attended by nearly 6000 fans, making it the biggest Coheed and Cambria headline to date.

Named after Coheed and Cambria’s top selling 2003 album of the same name, the long awaited  In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3chronicles the mysterious saga originally laid out in the album’s lyrics: The conflict between Claudio Kilgannon, son of the now deceased Coheed and Cambria, and the insidious Supreme Tri-mage Wilhelm Ryan, self-proclaimed ruler of Heaven’s Fence, a network of 78 planetsfar beyond our solar system. IKSSE:3 follows Claudio’s quest to discover his role in this galactic turmoil and introduces listeners of the band to in depth analysis of what the original songs were all about.”I know fans have been waiting for this story for years and we did it right” said Sanchez.  “I think they are really going to get what they are looking for with this series.”

The Amory Wars comics have been graphically detailing  the story behind the band Coheed and Cambria’s music since 2003, fleshing things out for fans who have tried to unlock the course of events encrypted in the lyrics since the music first began.  It is published through Boom! Studios, written by Claudio Sanchez with Peter David, who also co-wrote the novel “Year of the Black Rainbow,” which was released simultaneously with the band’s new album as a deluxe edition. The Deluxe Edition, which has gone through two pressings now totaling 25,000, has less than 500 copies remaining online.

Year Of The Black Rainbow was released April 13 to the highest chart position and some of the best reviews of Coheed and Cambria’s career. Time Out New York said “the band wisely refines a winning formula” and the Boston Globe commended the band’s “driving urgency, and cinematic sweep” while The Onion raved that the album brings “higher expectations: cinematic ones” and is “atmospheric, even when it colossally rocks.”

PAUL McCARTNEY AT&T PARK, SAN FRANCISCO Saturday, July 10th

Tickets On Sale Monday, May 24th at 10am!

May 17, 2010 – Paul McCartney has announced a performance date at San Francisco’s very own AT&T Park on Saturday, July 10th  for his ‘Up and Coming’ 2010 tour.  Keeping with his headline-making special concerts over the last few years, the tour will see the iconic star and his band play unique venues, places and locations; new cities he’s never played and familiar markets he’s not visited for a while.

The July 10th concert date at AT&T Park will be McCartney’s first performance within the City of San Francisco since The Beatles’ last concert tour appearance – at Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966.

Tickets go on-sale Monday, May 24th at 10am through all Ticketmaster locations or online at www.Ticketmaster.com and www.APEConcerts.com

McCartney’s ‘Up and Coming’ tour began in March and are Paul’s first US shows since his ‘Summer Live ’09’ tour last year.  The ‘Summer Live 09’ tour began in earnest with an already legendary inaugural run of shows at New York’s Citi Field Stadium, the site of the former Shea Stadium where The Beatles played the 1965 concert that set the precedent for the modern day stadium rock show. Critics hailed the Citi Field performances, seen by over 100,000 people, as the concert experience of a lifetime.

RollingStone.com commented, “When McCartney did an American mini-tour last spring and summer, fans (and, at the Coachella Festival, some curious acolytes) were astonished by shows that stretched out to the two-and-a-half hour mark. Returning to U.S. shores with a slightly revamped revue that he’s dubbed the “Up and Coming Tour,” McCartney now has an even longer set list that brings his concerts up to a plentiful two hours and 45 minutes. In other words, Rosalita ain’t got nothing on Eleanor Rigby.”

The new show will feature a typically diverse set list drawing on 2 hours plus worth of selections spanning the catalogues of The Beatles, Wings and Paul’s solo career, including tracks from The Fireman’s 2008 album ‘Electric Arguments’.

Paul finished 2009 on a high when he brought his ‘Good Evening Europe’ tour to a close on the 22nd of December with his only UK show at London’s O2 Arena.  Reviews for the show were phenomenal and prove that Paul McCartney is a live experience that no one should miss. “The man is living history and the way he continues to bring new energy to his past is incredible,” reported the UK’s largest Sunday paper, News Of The World.  The Telegraph exclaimed, “Paul McCartney used his only UK concert of 2009 as a showcase for an epic display of back-to-back basics music-making.  Armed only with his four-piece band and the greatest collection of hits in pop history, he traveled back and forth across the decades like the Dr Who of rock and roll.  Whatever elixir the 67-year-old Macca is running on remains a mystery, but he seems to get a huge charge from performing to an audience, especially one that is bombarding him with waves of adoration.”

About AT&T Park
A landmark in a city of icons, AT&T Park is the home of the San Francisco Giants and perched on San Francisco’s waterfront with sweeping views of The City and Bay.  Over the last 10+ years, AT&T Park has hosted more than 1,000 private events and public events, including major concerts, motor sports events, international soccer matches, professional and college football games and Cirque du Soleil.  Paul McCartney’s scheduled July 10th performance will surely be an experience to remember at AT&T Park.

Visit www.paulmccartney.com for further tour and show information or visit www.APEConcerts.com

Tickets are $49.50, $59.50, $99.50, $129.50, $179.50, $250.00 plus applicable service charges.
