The fall Band of Horses dates are the latest in support of the band’s third album, Infinite Arms, which is on sale for $3.99 for Friday, Aug. 13 only at Amazon.com. Produced by Band of Horses with additional production from Phil Ek and mixed by Dave Sardy,  Infinite Arms’ songs project the essence of the different locales across America that became the setting for its recording and songwriting process. The rich musical heritage of Muscle Shoals, AL, the sublime beauty of Asheville’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the glamorous Hollywood Hills and the vast Mojave desert all influenced the sounds on Infinite Arms and helped yield the group’s most focused and dynamic recordings to date. The serene woods of Northern Minnesota and the band’s native Carolinas inspired the songwriting, lending the compositions an air of comfort and familiarity.

Band of Horses is Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. Infinite Arms marks the recorded debut of long time touring members Ramsey and Reynolds, while Barrett and Monroe graced the last album, Cease to Begin. Through touring together in support of Cease to Begin and during breaks in the Infinite Arms recording process, the band have become a cohesive force with all members making invaluable contributions to the unmistakable sound that founder Bridwell has crafted since the band’s inception.

The latest addition to Band of Horses’ acclaimed discography arrived recently in the form of “Life On Earth” available exclusively on the new Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, joining Infinite Arms and its predecessors 2007’s Cease To Begin, the band’s 2006 debut album Everything All The Time, and a self-titled, self-released EP in 2005.

GORILLAZ WORLD TOUR TO KICK OFF OCTOBER 3 IN NORTH AMERICA

THREE MONTH “ESCAPE TO PLASTIC BEACH” GLOBAL CAMPAIGN TO INCLUDE FIRST EVER MADISON SQUARE GARDEN HEADLINE

Plastic Beach #1 in NPR’s Mid-Year Best Music of 2010 So Far Listeners’ Poll New and Exclusive Video Material Live Now at Gorillaz Official Hulu Channel http://www.hulu.com/gorillaz

July 27, 2010 – On the heels of a mind blowing run of European festivals, Gorillaz have announced the complete tour routing for the North American leg of their highly anticipated world tour “Escape To Plastic Beach.”   The North American tour will begin in Canada at Montreal’s Bell Centre on October 3rd with a 19 date stretch winding up on November 3rd at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

Tickets go on sale to the public in select markets beginning August 6th at LiveNation.com.  Gorillaz fanclub, the Sub-Division, will benefit from a 48 hour exclusive pre-sale prior to tickets going on general sale. To join Sub-Division go to www.gorillaz.com/subdivision.  Citi® cardmembers will also have access to presale tickets beginning Wednesday, August 4th at 10 am local time through Citi’s Private Pass® Program. For complete presale details visit www.citiprivatepass.com

The U.S. and Canada dates, promoted by Live Nation, will be followed by a series of ten shows across Europe and the UK, as well as, seven shows across Australia and Asia.

Gorillaz co-creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s new live experience encompassing material from all three multi-platinum Gorillaz albums played its first ever show at this April’s Coachella festival, absolutely slaying a crowd of 70,000 in the final headline slot of the weekend. Featuring Albarn, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash, Bobby Womack, Little Dragon, Bootie Brown, UK Hip Hop stars Kano and Bashy and others as well as video animation, artwork, film and stage design by Hewlett, Gorillaz have since played in front of more than 400,000 fans headlining Glastonbury, Roskilde in Denmark and Benicassim Festival in Spain and will soon become the first Western band of their magnitude to play in Syria when they play the ancient Citadel in Damascus on July 25th following a headline slot at Byblos Festival, in Beirut, Lebanon.

Universal raves for the current Gorillaz live band have included the following:

“The guest appearances from Bobby Womack, De La Soul, the Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, and more were all real. Not that Albarn really needed any help commanding attention. He sang with real soul and exhibited boundless energy… This, ladies and gentlemen, was pop spectacle done right.”–ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“The evolving band-art project — that originally began as a partnership between Blur’s Damon Albarn and comics artist Jamie Hewlett — was at its most expansive at Coachella. Albarn acted as a composer and a conjurer, directing a mini symphony and waving his arms to inspire flashes of synthesized and electronic sounds. The Gorillaz — aided by Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, anchors of what was once one of England’s most ambitious bands, the Clash — were, in many ways, the most perfect of Coachella bands.”–LOS ANGELES TIMES

“Gorillaz, the multi-media music project helmed by former Blur front man Damon Albarn and Tank Girl co-creator Jamie Hewlett, is the most intriguing, and perhaps one of the most important, music groups to emerge from the ’00s. Nowhere was that more obvious than Sunday night at Coachella, when Gorillaz sucked the crowd from virtually every other portion of Empire Polo Field for a rousing conclusion to the festival.”–LA WEEKLY

On the heels of the recently released third Gorillaz album Plastic Beach being  voted #1 album of 2010 thus far in NPR’s listeners poll, and first single/video “Stylo” setting the record for the most successful YouTube Music Tuesday premiere ever, Gorillaz have followed up with an epic clip for “On Melancholy Hill.” The narrative reveals the whereabouts of Gorillaz guitar slinger Noodle, making her first appearance since her apparent demise in the “El Manana” video that capped the 2005-2006 Demon Days campaign, and drummer Russel Hobbs, returning from MIA status transformed into a giant. “On Melancholy Hill” also picks up immediately following  the conclusion of the white knuckle chase captured in “Stylo,” with Noodle’s Cyborg doppelganger, Murdoc and vocalist 2D headed to Plastic Beach by way of an undersea odyssey featuring cameos from Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, Simonon and Jones, De La Soul and more. The full back story of the various Gorillaz misadventures filling the gap between Demon Days and Plastic Beach, the discovery of Point Nemo and construction of Murdoc’s new HQ, the formation of the current Gorillaz live band and more are chronicled in Journey To Plastic Beach http://www.hulu.com/watch/158164/gorillaz-journey-to-plastic-beach#s-p1-sr-i0. Journey To Plastic Beach recently debuted alongside “Feel Good Inc.,” “DARE,” “Clint Eastwood” and other visual essentials from the extensive Gorillaz videography at the band’s recently christened Hulu channel at http://www.hulu.com/gorillaz

Plastic Beach was released March 9 in the U.S. on EMI’s Virgin Records. It immediately set two career landmarks, selling more than 112,000 copies in its first week and entering the U.S. album chart at #2. Both career highs, the sales number and chart position bested those of 2005’s double-platinum Demon Days, which sold 107,000 in its debut week, entering the chart at #6.

Gorillaz a/k/a Murdoc Niccals, 2D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs were co-created by  Albarn and Hewlett over ten years ago, and unleashed on  the world with their self-titled 2001 debut album, which has sold nearly two  million copies in the U.S. The band’s 2005 follow up, Demon Days, featured the  Best Pop Collaboration with Vocal Grammy winner “Feel Good Inc.” and sold in excess of two million copies in America.

BROKEN BELLS ADD NEW DATES IN NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES AND OAKLAND

Currently in the midst of an international festival and headline run spanning Japan to the Netherlands, Broken Bells has confirmed the addition of three new dates to its ongoing debut world tour: James Mercer and Brian Burton a/k/a Danger Mouse will be bringing Broken Bells to the Fox Theater in Oakland on October 5, the Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 6 and New York City’s Terminal 5 on October 11. The new dates bracket Broken Bells’ already announced appearance at this year’s Austin City Limits festival on October 9.

Broken Bells’ self titled debut album has sold over 200,000 copies domestically since its March 9 Columbia Records release, nearly 50,000 of which were moved in its first week—landing the record at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #1 at its peak on iTunes). In addition to being the year’s highest charting debut album by an alternative/rock band,  Broken Bells met with an instantly and unanimously positive critical reception:  Rolling Stone hailed the album as “the year’s coolest left field pop disc” in a 4-star lead review, while Wired described it as “crazy good stuff”  and Entertainment Weekly praised it as a “subtly savory sonic morsel.” More recently, Broken Bells came in at #4 in NPR’s best music of 2010 so far listeners poll.

Broken Bells’ first ever tour has fared similarly, selling out from date one, and dazzling crowds the world over. Witnessing one of the band’s very first performances, US Weekly likened Broken Bells live show to “being at a cozy, intimate underground basement party somewhere in Northern California with the best art rock band on the coast providing the soundtrack.”

Meanwhile, as Broken Bells’ first single “The High Road” holds strong in a top 10 spot after six months at Alternative radio, the Jacob Gentry-directed and Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks-starring video for second single “The Ghost Inside” has been generating hundreds of thousands of views at http://www.vevo.com/watch/broken-bells/the-ghost-inside/USSM21000518. A behind the scenes look into the making of the five-minute sci fi opus can be viewed at http://www.vevo.com/watch/broken-bells/the-making-of-the-ghost-inside/USSM21001080 and further insights are offered up in an exclusive Q&A with director Gentry at http://pitchfork.com/news/39385-directors-cut-broken-bells-the-ghost-inside/.

Broken Bells features Mercer on vocals, guitars and bass while Burton plays organ, drums, piano, synths and bass. The pair play all instruments on the album with the exception of a full string section arranged by Daniele Luppi. Broken Bells was recorded by Todd Monfalcone and Kennie Takahashi at Mondo Studio in Los Angeles and produced by Danger Mouse.

Each a long-time fan of the other’s work, Burton and Mercer first met face-to-face backstage at the 2004 Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen. The pair immediately hit it off and kept in touch over the prevailing half decade and in May 2008 seized the opportunity to finally collaborate on original music together. Broken Bells was pared down from more than 20 pieces of new music written and recorded to the 10 songs that coalesced together the most seamlessly.

Mercer and Burton will continue to work as a band in the future.

The band was then joined by members of the Haitian ensemble Ram, who came from Port-Au-Prince especially to play this show, for an emotionally charged rendition of “Haiti” from its 2004 debut Funeral.

Earlier the same day Arcade Fire’s Regine Chassagne, joined KANPE director Dominique Anglade at a press conference launching the KANPE initiative in Quebec.

PAUL MCCARTNEY AND HIS BAND TO PLAY 200TH SHOW TONIGHT IN SALT LAKE CITY

Paul McCartney – The Live Experience
The Up and Coming Tour Takes Paul And His Band To Their 200th Performance

Salt Lake City – Tuesday 13th July 2010

Paul and his band started their ‘Up and Coming’ Tour in March of this year in Phoenix, USA.  The tour quickly established itself as THE live experience of 2010.  Playing massive sell-out stadium shows across the US, Mexico, Ireland and the UK, the show has been picking up amazing reviews from music fans and critics alike.  The tour has broken sales records, taken in a show at the White House in front of President Barack Obama and his family and been this summer’s hottest ticket with audience members including a superstar line-up; Chris Martin, Jack Nicholson, Kanye West, Neil Young, Dave Grohl, The Jonas Brothers, Kings Of Leon, John Paul Jones, Willie Nelson, Samuel L Jackson, David Walliams, Stephen Merchant and many more.  The tour also found time for a performance at The Old Vic theatre’s fundraiser at Battersea Power Station, which included a stage invasion from ultra fan Kevin Spacey! A big chunk of the funds raised went to the McCartney family’s Meat Free Monday campaign.

This tour takes the band to a new benchmark.  Paul McCartney’s concert in Salt Lake City today, Tuesday 13th July will mark this band’s 200th show together.

Paul McCartney, Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (guitar/bass guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums) have been touring together since 2002’s ‘Back In The World’ Tour.  Over the last 8 years the band has travelled the world and played some groundbreaking and headline-making shows together. Stand-out moments have included 2003’s performance to over 500,000 people outside the Coliseum in Rome and Paul’s first show in Red Square, Moscow.  In 2004 the band gave the Glastonbury Festival its most legendary moment to date when Paul and the band showed festival-goers how it’s really done.  2005 saw Paul and the band making history again as he performed live to the International Space Station waking up the NASA astronauts.  In 2008 Paul and the band did a series of special one-off concerts, headlining the Liverpool Sound concert at Anfield; the largest ever outdoor music event in Kiev, Ukraine, with over 500,000 people lining the streets to watch the show, a show in Quebec city’s national park, The Plains Of Abraham, to 300,000 people to celebrate Quebec’s 400th anniversary. September took them to Tel Aviv for Paul’s first ever concert in Israel where the Beatles were banned from performing at the height of Beatlemania in the 60s.  In 2009 Paul and the band toured the US throughout the summer and Europe in the winter. The tour commenced with the inaugural run of shows at New York’s Citi Field Stadium, which was the site of the former Shea Stadium where The Beatles made history in 1965 playing a concert that set the precedent for the modern day stadium rock show.  Critics hailed the Citi Field performances (watched by over 100,000 people) as the concert experience of a lifetime.  2009 ended with an epic sell-out show at London’s O2 Arena.

Speaking about the band Paul said: ‘The great thing is that we have grown into a band.  It’s funny because I always felt we were a bunch of guys playing together and were very lucky because we made a good noise that we found ourselves excited to be in the middle of.  Last year I just suddenly said to myself, “Wait a minute, you have been playing with these guys for, like, nine years now.”  Whether you like it or not that makes you a band and that is the great thing.  That is what happened to us, we have become a band almost without noticing.’

As for how many live shows Paul himself has played, records indicate it’s well in excess of 3,000.  In a lifetime of performing, Paul has played an impressive range of venues and locations.  From pub gigs to huge outdoor parks and stadiums – from unannounced stripped-back university shows with Wings to performing at Buckingham Palace, Moscow’s Red Square and the White House. Paul’s live shows have reached a new legendary status in recent years, garnering unprecedented reviews from fans and critics alike wherever he goes.  He’s pushed boundaries, performed to millions and made global news with countless monumental shows.

BAND OF HORSES NEW FALL TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED PRE-SALES BEGIN THURS. JULY 8 “LAREDO” VIDEO TO PREMIERE ON iTUNES JULY 13

Following historic headline performances last month including a sold-out inaugural date at Brooklyn, NY’s Williamsburg Waterfront and the first ever AOL Pop Up show at New York City’s Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall, Band of Horses has filled in the blanks in its fall 2010 North American itinerary. The newly confirmed dates will follow highly anticipated September headlines at Los Angeles and Berkeley’s Greek Theaters as well as previously announced September dates in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Denver. The new dates will commence October 1 in Des Moines and stretch to October 30 in Atlanta, sandwiching the band’s October 10 main stage appearance at the Austin City Limits festival.

Pre-sales for all the newly announced shows will commence Thursday, July 8.

Additionally, July 13 will mark the iTunes premiere of the video for “Laredo,” the first official single from Band of Horses’ third album Infinite Arms, which was released May 18 by Brown/Fat Possum/Columbia, moving in excess of 45,000 units in its debut week and entering the U.S. chart at a career high #7. The “Laredo” video was shot on location in Pioneertown, CA, and features footage from an impromptu set the band played at local haunt Pappy & Harriet’s. The clip was edited by Duncan Shepherd and produced by Merge @ Crossroads Films.

Infinite Arms was produced by Band of Horses with additional production from Phil Ek and mixed by Dave Sardy, its songs projecting the essence of the different locales across America that became the setting for its recording and songwriting process.

Band of Horses is currently playing a handful of U.S. dates before spending the remainder of the summer abroad, where they will traverse Australia, Japan, the European continent and the UK before returning to North America in September.
