JAYMAY AUTUMN FALLIN’ OUT MARCH 11, 2008

JAYMAY
AUTUMN FALLIN’ CONFIRMED FOR MARCH 11 U.S. RELEASE ON BLUE NOTE
DECEMBER 12 HOMECOMING SHOW AT NEW YORK’S MERCURY LOUNGE

“Poignant pen-pictures of young love in Manhattan, rich in lyrical detail and bursting with sweet acoustic melody”
–Q MAGAZINE 4-star “Q Recommends” review

“Think Woody Allen if he were young and female–and could sing”
–THE OBSERVER, 4-star review

“The raw ingredients for Jaymay’s music are simple and familiar – an appealing drawl, a guitar, a hint of violins – the execution is what makes this a special debut album.”
–METRO (UK) 4-star review

New York City songstress Jaymay has confirmed a March 11 U.S. release for her debut full length Autumn Fallin’ on Blue Note Records.

Currently touring the UK where Heavenly Recordings has released Autumn Fallin’ to slew of 4-star reviews (see above), Jaymay got her start at a NYC open mic night in 2003. Soon after she was invited to play at various Lower East Side venues such as Pianos, Mercury Lounge and her much buzzed about (and oversold) Living Room Residency, which moved Gothamist to gush “Girls with Guitars are everywhere in this city, but this one –like a siren–was pulling people into this room and leaving them silent, speechless even. Shocked and lulled into a stupor.”

Jaymay eschewed the inevitable and numerous label offers that came in the wake of these shows, opting to self-release the beautiful Sea Green See Blue EP, which scored an “indie spotlight” on iTunes and frequent rotation on Los Angeles’ influential KCRW). She then began work on Autumn Fallin, a song cycle that vividly details the story of a New York City relationship gone south for the Winter.

Ultimately, EMI made her an offer she creatively couldn’t refuse, resulting in perfect homes at Heavenly Records in the UK and Blue Note here in the states.

Since then, Jaymay (born Jamie Kristine Seerman) has taken up residence in London, touring Europe and the UK with the likes of Bright Eyes, Jose Gonzales and in coming weeks Caribou and Okkervil River.
She will be returning to New York to round out her year with a one-off homecoming show at the Mercury Lounge December 12th at 7pm.

THE MARS VOLTA THE BEDLAM IN GOLIATH OUT JAN. 29, 2008

THE BEDLAM IN GOLIATH OUT JAN. 29, 2008 ON UNIVERSAL
“Goliath The Soothsayer” Game Exclusive To Amazon.com Beginning Jan. 2, 2008

Beginning the first week of January, visitors to the Amazon.com music page (http://amazon.com/music) will be the first to experience “Goliath The Soothsayer,” an online game based on The Mars Volta’s forthcoming The Bedlam In Goliath. The game will be available exclusively via Amazon.com from January 2nd through January 29th, the official street date for the new record. Pre-order is not necessary to play to the game.

“Goliath The Soothsayer” is based on the true story that inspired the narrative laid out on The Bedlam In Goliath. Like previous Mars Volta efforts De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute, the album is a thematically linked whole, the songs chapters in a bigger story, inspired by real people, places and events. The Bedlam In Goliath chronicles The Mars Volta’s time with the “Soothsayer” a/k/a the Ouija board owned by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and its mutation from a source of amusement during the tour supporting the band’s Amputechture album into a malevolent psycho-spiritual force that nearly tore the group apart, collectively and individually.

A trailer for the game can be viewed at:
http://video.umrg.com/marsvolta/goliath_the_soothsayer/quicktime.asp
The Mars Volta was formed by guitarist/producer/arranger Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and lyricist/vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and issued its first recorded work, the Tremulant EP in 2002. The band has since released three full-length albums, De-Loused In The Comatorium (2003), Frances The Mute (2005)–both of which have been certified gold–and Amputechture (2006). The Bedlam In Goliath will be The Mars Volta’s fourth studio album. Like Frances The Mute and Amputechture, it was produced by the band’s own Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

FOO FIGHTERS ANNOUNCE US TOUR DATES FOR ’08

“The Henry Fonda theatre was rocked to its core Monday night by the Foo Fighters, as they tore through their set, never letting off the gas pedal…”
– LAist.com

“New songs, old songs, it didn’t matter: the Foos rocked and fans ate it up.”
– Albany Times-Union

As they wrap up a run of arena shows in the UK, Foo Fighters have announced the first several dates of what will be the first full American tour in support of their new album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. As on the warm up dates earlier this fall, the tour will feature additional Fighters beyond the core foursome – Pat Smear on guitar, Rami Jaffee on keyboards, and Jessie Greene on strings.

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is Foo Fighters’ sixth studio album and has already proven itself a worthy addition to the band’s discography, as songs like ‘The Pretender’ and new single ‘Long Road To Ruin’ are holding their own every night alongside known barnburners like ‘My Hero’ and ‘All My Life’. As Entertainment Weekly said of the new album, ‘the band has taken everything it’s always done best…and brought it to the next level.”

For fans who want to ensure themselves good seats and support a good cause at the same time, a limited quantity of premium tickets for a number of shows will be available only through Ticketmaster auctions. Auction proceeds will benefit local tree planting through TreeBank, an online donation system dedicated to urban forest tree planting. Each auction will run for approximately two weeks following each show’s on-sale date, and TreeBank will distribute auction proceeds to local “branches” for tree planting in every community on the Foo Fighters tour. The Ticketmaster auction page is:

AFI I HEARD A VOICE: LIVE FROM THE LONG BEACH ARENA OUT NOVEMBER 13

2006-2007 marked the undeniable apex of AFI’s unrelenting 15-year climb: AFI’s seventh album, DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, entered the Billboard 200 at #1, the smash single “Miss Murder” nabbed the 2006 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video, the band made a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE appearance and swept ROLLING STONE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, BLENDER, ALTERNATIVE PRESS and REVOLVER’s Best of 2006 lists.

Throughout all of this, however, it was the AFI live experience that catapulted the band to arena status, as they wrapped the first leg of their U.S. headline tour by selling out the Long Beach Arena and SF’s Bill Graham Civic in record time. On November 13, the release of I Heard A Voice: Live From The Long Beach Arena will provide an aural document of the aforementioned Long Beach show.

The connection between AFI and its fans–many of whom belong to the fiercely loyal Despair Faction–in the live setting is absolute. As documented on I Heard A Voice, every single audience member is as emotionally invested in the show as the band members themselves. And much like their recorded output, the unique AFI live ritual has captured the attention of the mainstream: THE LOS ANGELES TIMES’ review of southern California radio giant KROQ’s Christmas show gave AFI “the show’s MVP award,” while SPIN recently named AFI one of the current music world’s “Greatest Live Bands.”

GORILLAZ: D-SIDES U.S. RELEASE NOVEMBER 20

Limited Special Edition to Feature Exclusive Packaging, Art, Badges, Stickers and Patch

D-Sides, an assortment of B-sides from Gorillaz’ multi-platinum second album Demon Days, early demos and previously unreleased tracks compiled together for the first time, has been confirmed for a November 20 U.S. release on Virgin Records.

D-Sides highlights include “Hong Kong,” the lush and lovely track recorded by Gorillaz for Warchild and the surprise hit of last year’s Demon Days Live show (given an exclusive refit here with added strings), the dubbed-out collaboration with The Bees, “Bill Murray,” and the apocalyptic scum-pop of “We Are Happy Landfill.” “Stop The Dams” is another collaboration, this time with the Sugarcubes’ Einar Orn, protesting against dam building in Iceland’s wilderness. Demos “People” (which later became Demon Days single “DARE”) and “Don’t Get Lost in Heaven” give a sneak peek into the band’s creative process, while the Mandarin version of “Dirty Harry” provides an insight into how Gorillaz might sound if they’d been born east of the Yangtze instead of deep in the wilds of Essex, while D-Sides’ bonus CD of remixes includes reworkings by DFA, Junior Sanchez and Hot Chip.

A special edition of D-Sides will be available in a debossed glossy dual box, and will include two exclusive Jamie Hewlett prints, a collection of Gorillaz badges, stickers and a “Choose Pazuzu” patch. The track listing will be the same as the standard edition.

D-Sides follows the immensely popular G-Sides, a collection of B-sides and rarities from the band’s debut album, Gorillaz.

PJ HARVEY CONFIRMS TWO EXCLUSIVE U.S. PERFORMANCES

OCTOBER 10 AT THE BEACON THEATRE IN NEW YORK
OCTOBER 15 AT THE ORPHEUM IN LOS ANGELES
WHITE CHALK OUT SEPTEMBER 25

PJ Harvey has confirmed two exclusive one-off U.S. solo performances to coincide with the release of her eighth studio album, White Chalk, out October 2nd on Island Records.

The shows will take place at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on October 10th and The Orpheum in Los Angeles on October 15th and will feature the U.S. live debut of material from White Chalk as well as material spanning PJ Harvey’s career.
Tickets for both shows go on-sale on Friday September 7th.
No other U.S. dates are planned at present.

Early reaction to White Chalk from the U.S. press has been phenomenal. ROLLING STONE reacted to first single “When Under Ether” with a four star review, calling it an “incredibly eerie piano ballad” that “bodes extremely well for the rest of White Chalk,” while NEW YORK magazine cited White Chalk one of the most anticipated releases of the fall.

White Chalk is a departure from previous PJ Harvey studio albums in that it was written on piano. White Chalk was produced by PJ Harvey with Flood and John Parish, the three of whom previously worked together on the GRAMMY-nominated To Bring You My Love and Is This Desire?, and includes musical contributions from Harvey’s long time associate Eric Drew Feldman, and Jim White from The Dirty Three.
