JIMMY EAT WORLD: CLARITY X 10 TOUR

10 SHOWS CELEBRATING 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF 1999 CLASSIC

“It was 1999’s masterful Clarity that established a foundation for 21st century emo”–BLENDER

Jimmy Eat World will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its classic Clarity by playing the album in its entirety for 10 one-time-only shows beginning February 23 in New York City and concluding March 7 in the band’s native Arizona.

Released in 1999 to virtually no fanfare, Clarity gradually became the single most influential record of a generation: A recent SPIN article polled members of 17 bands ranging from Fall Out Boy to Yellowcard, all of whom cited Jim Adkins’ writing and performance on the record as a primary influence, while ALTERNATIVE PRESS noted “Clarity would later become one of the most beloved emo albums of the ’90s.” Ironically, it was Clarity’s initial failure that put Jimmy Eat World on the path to their eventual success: Left to its own devices after being dropped by Capitol, the band built up a base via relentless touring which funded the recording of their 2001 breakthrough Bleed American, which went on to sell 1.5 million copies.

Clarity was reissued last year to considerably greater acclaim, including a 4.5 star BLENDER review that proclaimed “Dozens of weepy bottom-feeders have tried to write mid-20s angst anthems better than the soaring ‘Lucky Denver Mint’ or the delicately heartbroken ‘Just Watch The Fireworks’–but few have succeeded.”

Reuben’s Accomplice will support Feb. 23-Mar. 4. No Knife will support Mar. 5-7.

Pre-sale for the Clarity x 10 Tour will begin this Thursday, Nov. 13. For details, see JimmyEatWorld.com. General on sales begin Saturday Nov. 15, with the exception of San Francisco, which goes on sale Sunday Nov. 16, and Boston, which will go on sale at a later date to be announced.

RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS CARDINOLOGY ENTERS U.S. ALBUM CHART AT #11

Limited Edition Vinyl With Exclusive Artwork OUT NOW
2009 Tour Dates To Be Announced Shortly

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals’ Cardinology has entered the Billboard Top 200 at #11, selling in excess of 40,000 copies since its October 28 release and the second highest chart debut of Ryan’s career, the first being last year’s Easy Tiger which bowed at #7.

A limited edition vinyl version of Cardinology was released this week, featuring exclusive cover artwork by illustrator Leah Hayes, renowned for her Fantagraphics graphic novels Funeral of the Heart and Holy Moly, among other works.

The Cardinals, who are comprised of Adams, Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Chris Feinstein (bass, vocals), Jon Graboff (pedal steel, vocals) and Brad Pemberton (drums), are about to embark on a UK headlining tour, which will be followed by a North American trek supporting Oasis. Dates for an early 2009 U.S. headline tour will be announced shortly.

Cardinology is the latest installation of the Ryan Adams & The Cardinals canon that includes Easy Tiger, 29, Jacksonville City Nights, Cold Roses, Love Is Hell, Rock N Roll, Demolition, Gold and Heartbreaker. Adams explains the record’s title as “the study of this band, the research and development of jam technology–Jam meaning equal part songwriting and jamming. Some people say meaningful things all the time but never say them quite the same way twice. So it’s the science of applying that to music and never playing anything the same way twice.”

TOKYO POLICE CLUB GET DESPERATE

NOV. 16 EPISODE OF ABC’S DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES TO FEATURE TPC PERFORMANCE

When the Nov. 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) episode of “Desperate Housewives” airs and the local Battle of the Bands kicks off, scores of music fans will undoubtedly recognize entrants Cold Splash as none other than Tokyo Police Club. The band will perform “In A Cave” from its acclaimed debut full length Elephant Shell in a competition held at the White Horse rock club near Wisteria Lane.

In addition to TPC’s performance, fans can look forward to band members’ having actual lines in the episode, as well as subtle clues to the true identity of Cold Splash including flyers on the club walls for bands named “Shoulders And Arms” and “Cut Cut Paste.”

Having completed an extensive world headlining tour and, more recently, a nationwide run supporting Weezer, Tokyo Police Club will return to the road for a tour of the band’s native Canada beginning Dec. 13 in Toronto.

MONKEY “JOURNEY TO THE WEST” AND NEW VIDEO PREMIERE ON YOUTUBE

Gorillaz Masterminds Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett To Premiere “Monkey Bee” Video, Curate YouTube Homepage For 24 Hours

“A rare non-terrible pop-classical crossover”-NEW YORK

“Breathtaking…effortless integration of different traditions”-TIME

NEW YORK, NY – October 28, 2008 – Following on the heels of the September 23 release of “Monkey: Journey to the West” (XL Recordings), an album based on the Mandarin Opera reinterpreted by GORILLAZ creators Damon Albarn (music) and Jamie Hewlett (visuals), comes an October 28 YouTube homepage takeover during which the duo will premiere the “Monkey Bee” video and curate featured videos on the YouTube homepage for a full 24 hours.

Featured videos exclusive to the MONKEY YouTube Takeover will include:

o The world premiere of “Monkey Bee”

o The making of “Monkey Bee”

o Damon & Jamie’s YouTube takeover and curatorial introduction

o Damon & Jamie’s Excellent Adventure (feature-length documentary)

In addition to these MONKEY firsts, bloopers, B-Roll and assorted other material, the Takeover will also feature supplementary clips related to the themes and inspirations that helped shape the unique musical and visual aesthetic of JOURNEY TO THE WEST.

MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST was first staged June 28, 2007 in the UK at the inaugural Manchester International Festival, when world-renowned theatre, opera and film director Chen Shi-Zheng enlisted Albarn and Hewlett to provide unique, modern musical and visual interpretations of the themes and characters of this most beloved work of Chinese folklore. The result was a new stage show for the 21st century that recast an ancient Chinese legend as a dazzling spectacle involving nearly 40 Chinese circus acrobats, martial artists and singers, and an orchestra of both Western and traditional Chinese instruments. MONKEY has since played to sold-out houses across Europe, made its U.S. debut at the 2008 Spoleto Festival USA, played at London’s famed Royal Opera House, and will soon begin a Nov. 8-Dec. 5 London run in a specially built tented theater adjacent to the O2 Arena.

MYSPACE MUSIC TO PREMIERE BECK “GAMMA RAY REDUX” VIDEO ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28

FAN-MADE “BECKUMENTARY” TO DEBUT ON MYSPACE MUSIC ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18

Multi-genre musical pioneer Beck (http://www.myspace.com/beck) expands his innovative reach yet again, with two upcoming creative collaborations with MySpace Music:

The worldwide debut of a brand new video for “Gamma Ray,” the current single from Beck’s universally acclaimed Modern Guilt, will premiere on MySpace Music (http://www.myspace.com/music) on Tuesday, October 28. Directed by Jess Holzworth, the new “Gamma Ray Redux” music video features Chloe Sevigny as a post apocalyptic go-go dancer set loose in a Dada-ist pastiche of psychedelic imagery and characters.

Additionally, a lucky Beck MySpace fan will be chosen to make their very own “Beckumentary” on November 9, at the first of Beck’s two sold out nights at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The Beckumentarian will conduct an interview with Beck and shoot both performance and behind-the-scenes footage. The resulting documentary will premiere Tuesday, November 18 on MySpace Music.

“This is what MySpace Music is all about–enabling huge fans to connect with the artists they love,” said Josh Brooks, VP of Music Marketing for MySpace. “Beck has etched his name in the good book of rock. We are thrilled that he is using our site to reach out to fans on a personal level- it’s truly a testament to how much he appreciates their support.”

RADIOHEAD: IN RAINBOWS SALES DATA REVEALED

Little more than a year since Radiohead’s October 10, 2007 pay-what-you-like self-release of its seventh album, In Rainbows, some conclusive statistics were made available at the recent “You Are In Control” conference in Reykjavik, Iceland.

For those who missed coverage of the conference while engrossed in something as trivial as the Presidential Debates or the world economic collapse, the following is a summation of key answers to FAQs:

* In Rainbows has sold three million copies thus far, a figure that includes downloads from Radiohead.com, physical CDs, a deluxe 2-CD/vinyl box set, as well as sales via iTunes and other digital retailers.
* The In Rainbows deluxe edition sold 100,000 copies via Radiohead fan service W.A.S.T.E.
* Radiohead made more money prior to In Rainbows’ January 2008 physical release than its total take on 2003’s Hail To the Thief.
* The physical release of In Rainbows entered both the US and UK charts at #1 in January, despite having been freely available since October 2007.
* In Rainbows was the first Radiohead album available on iTunes, where it went in at #1 in January, selling 30,000 in its first week.

In Rainbows also owns the singular distinction of being the first record widely regarded as album of the year in advance of its actual physical release: By the time TBD/ATO released In Rainbows to retail on January 1, 2008, the digital version had already topped the 2007 year-end lists at NEW YORK, THE NEW YORK TIMES, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, NPR, TIME, PEOPLE, ROLLING STONE, BLENDER, SPIN, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES and many more.

Radiohead recently concluded a world tour in Japan, one that sold over 1.2 million tickets.

FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

Two Nights, 165,000 Fans
Available November 18th on DVD and Blu-Ray

165,000 tickets sold and more than four hours of music later, FOO FIGHTERS have now immortalized their biggest ever headline stand: FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM, an 18-song DVD and Blu-Ray document of their two sold out Wembley Stadium shows, will be released November 18th.

The Wembley concerts, which took place Friday and Saturday June 6 and 7 of this year, sold out within 24 hours, making them the biggest headline performances of the band’s illustrious career–as well as the biggest rock shows staged at the new Wembley Stadium to date.

FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM is a career-spanning live opus, drawing on all six of Foo Fighters’ studio albums, featuring Dave Grohl (vocals/guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums/vocals), Nate Mendel (bass) and Chris Shiflett (guitar) ripping through classics “Times Like These,” “Everlong,” “Monkey Wrench,” “All My Life” and “Learn To Fly” as well as new live staples including “Long Road To Ruin.” Elsewhere the core FF four are joined by co-founding FF guitarist Pat Smear, keyboardist Rami Jaffee, violinist/cellist Jessy Greene and percussionist Drew Hester on the DVD’s blazing opener “The Pretender” as well as a semi-acoustic mid-set section featuring intimate versions of “My Hero,” the Grohl-penned Nirvana B-Side “Marigold,” Hawkins’ lead vocal turn on “Cold Day In The Sun” and more.

Like the Wembley weekend, FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM concludes with a triumphant and highly emotional “Best Of You” with a closing chorus of 85,000 fans leaving Grohl visibly moved.

Early on in the evening’s festivities, Grohl asked the crowd “How did this band get so f***ing big?” By the close of the weekend, 165,000 people knew the answer. And now with the release of FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM, so will you.
