BEASTIE BOYS ILL COMMUNICATION REMASTERED DELUXE REISSUE IN STORES JULY 14

ILL COMMUNICATION REMASTERED DELUXE REISSUE IN STORES JULY 14
BEASTIEBOYS.COM PREORDER NOW LIVE
NEW ALBUM HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 1 IN STORES SEPTEMBER 15

New York, NY – July 6, 2009 – The latest installment of this summer’s deluxe remastered Beastie Boys series has been confirmed: Ill Communication will get the multi-format reissue treatment on July 14 on Capitol Records. Beastieboys.com will be taking preorders as of July 6 for versions ranging from a digital download of the full album and bonus b-sides/rarities disc to an ultra-deluxe 3 LP 180HQ vinyl version packaged with a lenticular hardcover coffee table book case and limited to 1500 copies.

Debuting at #1 upon its May 1994 release, Beastie Boys’ fourth album would quickly become an unstoppable force of nature, pervading every aspect of pop culture and public consciousness. Its charge to the top of the charts was led by “Sabotage” and its legendary Spike Jonze/Nathanial Hornblower helmed tribute to ’70s TV police dramas, as ROLLING STONE dubbed Ill Communication 1994’s “soundtrack for summer.” Crowds and critics alike were equally and instantly floored by hip hop highlights like the opening “Sure Shot,” the classic Jimmy Smith homage “Root Down” and the Q-Tip collaboration “Get It Together,” as a VIBE (RIP) cover story- the magazine’s first on a white artist–hailed Beastie Boys as ‘perhaps the most consistently innovative musicians to emerge out of hip hop.” It was a claim that Ill Communication would justify for years to come, as everything from the household name hits to instrumental favorites “Sabrosa” and “Ricky’s Theme” to hardcore punk workouts “Tough Guy” and “Heart Attack Man” remain B Boys staples to this day. And back then as now, Ill Communication’s impact and momentum showed no signs of abating. 1995 saw Beastie Boys instantly sell out the Quadrophonic Joystick Tour, marking the band’s return to arena-headlining status. They continued to circle the globe as the record went multi-platinum, finally taking a break after the historic first Tibetan Freedom Concert drew 100,000 attendees over two days at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park in June 1996.

FOO FIGHTERS JOIN PRESIDENT OBAMA & THE USO TO HONOR MILITARY HEROES AND THEIR FAMILIES AT INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION ON SOUTH LAWN
JULY 4 SET FEATURED DEBUT OF “WHEELS,” ONE OF TWO BRAND NEW TRACKS TO exambusiness exam
APPEAR ON COLLECTION OUT NOVEMBER TBC

Washington DC – Foo Fighters had the honor this weekend of joining President Barack Obama for a special July 4 USO concert on the South Lawn, where they entertained an audience of over 1200 active military troops and families for a private concert, BBQ and fireworks display.

The honored attendees were treated not only to a parade of FF favorites,It exam pdf but also witnessed the first ever live performance of the brand new song “Wheels.” The studio version of “Wheels” will be one of two new tracks the band has recorded with producer Butch Vig specifically for an as yet untitled collection due out this November.

The new tracks–all recorded by Foo Fighters core foursome Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett this year at Foo Fighters’ own 606 studio complex–hold their ground and then some alongside classics from the band’s six platinum-plus, multiple Grammy-winning studio albums, including individual Grammy recipients “The Pretender,” “All My Life” and “Learn To Fly.” Perennial FF staples–”My Hero,” “Times Like These,” “Best Of You” and more–provide an overview of the band’s 15 year and counting career, while the two new tracks hint at even greater heights to be scaled in the future of this quintessential American rock band.

ST. VINCENT TO SUPPORT ALL HEADLINE DATES
TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN PERFORMANCE JULY 7
AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL & TV SHOW APPEARANCES CONFIRMED

“Bird is the total package: a conservatory-trained musician with a slurry croon, a gentle soul, skewed, literate wit, and Beatlesesque mastery of melody.” -The Boston Globe

Fresh off some of the biggest headline shows of his career -including a once in a lifetime night at Radio City Music Hall about which Entertainment Weekly raved “Andrew Bird is a mad genius…The whiz-kid made his intricately-layered brainiac rock look easy, when nothing could be further from the truth” -Andrew Bird has confirmed a final leg of the Noble Beast tour to follow this summer’s trek through the U.S. and abroad. St. Vincent will support on all of Bird’s fall headline dates.

The summer dates will be preceded by Andrew’s July 7 appearance on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and will kick off with a July 10 headline date at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater featuring support from Ra Ra Riot and Heartless Bastards, followed by a number of dates with the likes of Death Cab For Cutie and the Decemberists. Following an appearance at this year’s Lollapalooza, Bird will spend the remainder of August on a run of European and UK festival dates. He will return to the U.S. for the fall tour, which commences September 19 at the Forward Music Festival in Madison WI, includes a show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, a stop at the Austin City Limits festival (Bird taped a performance for an episode of the ACL TV show to air this fall as well), multiple night stands in Carrboro and Milwaukee, and wraps up with an October 28 return to Washington DC.

Fan pre-sales at www.andrewbird.net for all dates begin today (June 30). General on sales begin July 10, with the exception of Buffalo and Madison which begin July 11.

Andrew Bird’s most recent album, Noble Beast, was released January 20 on Fat Possum Records. It debuted at #12 on the U.S. album chart, and has since passed the 100,000 sales mark, while Bird has recently sold out such prestigious venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater and a two-night stand at the Civic Opera House in his hometown of Chicago.

The first Beastie Boys headline date confirmed to follow the album’s release, the band’s debut stand at the famed Hollywood Bowl, has sold out. Further dates will be announced as they are confirmed.

Meanwhile, Beastie Boys recently began a summer festival mission with a set at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester TN that blew the crowd of 70,000-plus out of their Birkenstocks and caused devil sticks to spontaneously combust. The performance featured an appearance by Nas who joined the Boys for the live debut of the new record’s “Too Many Rappers,” as well as a rare appearance from Country Mike for an acoustic rendition of “Heart Attack Man.”

The mission will continue throughout the summer and will include upcoming appearances at the All Points West and Lollapalooza festivals, the latter of which will be preceded by a just-announced intimate Beastie Boys show at the Congress in Chicago on Thursday, August 6.

Finally, the last installment of the deluxe, remastered, expanded and altogether awesome Beastie Boys catalogue reissues will be dropping in advance of the new record: the band’s multi-platinum 1998 opus Hello Nasty will be given the 2-CD/vinyl box set/multi-format treatment beginning with an August 17 pre-order/digital release and will hit stores August 25. Preceded by the universal smash “Intergalactic,” Hello Nasty crashed into the #1 spots of charts worldwide upon its July 1998 release, with first week sales of nearly 700,000 in the U.S. alone. Buoyed by the launch of the 360 in the round tour, Hello Nasty would yield B Boys classics “Body Movin’,” “Three MCs and One DJ,” “Remote Control,” “Super Disco Breakin’” and more, win two Grammys, see the band presented with an MTV Video Vanguard lifetime achievement award, and ultimately sell some 7 million copies worldwide.

As previously announced, pre-orders for the expanded, remastered multi-format Ill Communication will begin July 6, with a physical release of July 14.

“Paul McCartney is a towering figure in the history of rock and roll. “This will be a great concert by one of the world’s most-loved performers,” said Daniel M. Snyder, Owner of the Washington Redskins and FedExField. “I’ve been a fan of Paul’s all my life, so it’s going to be a memorable night for us all.”

Joined by the Caravelles, Tommy Rose, and the Chiffons, the Fab Four played to a capacity crowd of over 8,000 people, heralding the arrival of Beatlemania in the United States.

The show on August 1 at FedExField marks McCartney’s first performance in Washington D.C. since October 8, 2005. Dave McKenna raved about the show in his review for the Washington Post, stating “folks came to hear McCartney sing, in a voice still strong enough to leave listeners awestruck.”

BECK.COM EXTENSIVE OVERHAUL TO FEATURE DEBUT OF RECORD CLUB

Beck & Friends Form Music Club To Re-Record Entire Albums In One-Day Sessions and Post a Track a Week

Beck.com will be undergoing an extensive overhaul in the next month. It will feature several new sections, including Record Club, a regular meeting of various musicians to record an entire album in one day. Due to the time constraints involved in recording a record in a day, an album will be chosen to be covered and used as a framework for the proceedings. Nothing will be rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track from these sessions will be uploaded once a week on Beck.com, as well as through the web sites of those involved in the project.

Record Club will be an ongoing experiment visitors to the site will be able to follow from week to week.

The first album attempted–one of the few everyone could agree on–will be The Velvet Underground & Nico.

Musicians involved in upcoming Record Clubs include Devendra Banhart, MGMT, Jamie Lidell and Nigel Godrich.
