Developed in conjunction with Radical Media, EMI and Google, 3 Dreams Of Black created three dream worlds set to the score of Danger Mouse and Luppi’s “Black” with its sublime Norah Jones vocal. The worlds are experienced as 2D drawings and animations, interspersed with interactive 3D sequences in which the viewer becomes an active participant, guiding their own journey through the unfolding narrative. Participants can even create their own virtual artifacts–the best of which will then be integrated into the experience and become a part of other users’ dreams.
The unique, immersive online experience of 3 Dreams Of Black is powered by the evolution in HTML5 and WebGL internet and web browser technologies. However, like the music that inspired its creation, the best way to understand 3 Dreams of Black is simply to experience it.
ROME, five years in the making and finally out May 17, is the result of Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi joining forces to co-compose and co-arrange a record in the vein of classic Italian Western soundtracks like Ennio Morricone’s Fistful of Dollars or The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Danger Mouse and Luppi went to such lengths to preserve this aesthetic as traveling to Rome to use Morricone’s studio and musicians who actually played on these soundtracks. Vintage instruments were tracked down and bartered for, and every note was recorded in analog with no studio trickery or synthetic instrumentation. With the score completed, Norah Jones and Jack White were enlisted for vocals on three tracks each.
