LAZARETTO NOMINATED FOR BEST ALTERNATIVE MUSIC ALBUM GRAMMY®, TITLE TRACK FOR BEST ROCK SONG & BEST ROCK PERFORMANCE
It’s official: with the final sales week of 2014 having drawn to a close, Jack White’s Lazaretto (Third Man Records/Columbia) is the #1 selling vinyl release of 2014. With 86,707 copies of its ULTRA LP sole vinyl configuration sold in the U.S. since its June 10 release, and a worldwide total exceeding 150,000,Lazaretto not only took the top spot in the 2014 vinyl sales chart—it posted the highest vinyl sales year of the Soundscan era.
These are but the latest records set by Lazaretto: The 40,000 copies the ULTRA LP moved in the seven days following its June 10 release made for the highest first-week vinyl numbers since Soundscan began tracking sales data in 1991. Prior to Lazaretto’s release, a 7″ single featuring a special mono live version of the title track was recorded and released on site at Third Man Records all within a matter of hours onSaturday, April 19th, setting a new record for the World’s Fastest Released Record.
Meanwhile, as Lazaretto continues to dominate readers and critics polls alike, the album has garnered three GRAMMY award nominations including Best Alternative Music Album, as well as Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for its title track. The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards will air Sunday, February 8, 2015 on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
Jack White has also been nominated in the Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package GRAMMY field, as art director for the Third Man & Revenant Records release The Rise & Fall of Paramount Records, Volume 1 (1917-27), bringing Jack’s career GRAMMY nomination total to 29—of which he was won nine. Third Man Records has also been recognized in two additional categories: Best Album Notes for The Rise & Fall of Paramount Records, Volume 1 (1917-27), and Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package for the vinyl box set release of Neil Young’s A Letter Home.
