GORILLAZ: NEW VIDEO ‘STROBELITE’ OUT NOW

GORILLAZ

New Video – STROBELITE

Watch here:

Strobelite – the euphoric dance track from chart topping album Humanz – is the new video from Gorillaz.

Directed by Stoke native and Murdoc Niccals’ acolyte Raoul Skinbeck, the Strobelite video features Peven Everett along with band members 2D, Noodle, Murdoc and Russel Hobbs smashing it on a night out at an infamous London hotspot.

Skinbeck, a longtime acquaintance of Niccals, has a long and illustrious career in producing TV ads for a local double glazing company based in Stoke on Trent and Murdoc thought he’d be rather good at making pop videos.

remix of Strobelite by producer wunderkind Kaytranada is set to land on Friday 18th.

Also coming in time for Notting Hill Carnival is a dancehall remix of Saturnz Barz by Cadenza, featuring all new verses from Mad CobraAssassinKila P and Teddy Bruckshot in addition to original vocals by Popcaan and Damon Albarn.

Gorillaz live show has already been met with a rapturous response.  The band headlined the inaugural Demon Dayz festival in Margate earlier this summer and most recently opened their Humanz world tour across sold out dates in the US.

Notes to Editors:

Peven Everett is a rare artist of many talents whose work alternately covers the territories of house, R&B, jazz and hip-hop. Everett, who was born in Harvey, IL, received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music at the age of 17, before leaving to perform live at Carnegie Hall with the likes of Betty Carter, Branford Marsalis, and Winton Marsalis. Since then, the multi-instrumentalist has played trumpet on a handful of jazz recordings (including Curtis Lundy’s Against All Odds) and has become a prominent figure in Chicago’s house, soul and R&B communities. He has released seven solo albums to date.

Gorillaz is singer 2D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russel Hobbs. Created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, their acclaimed eponymous debut album was released in 2001. The BRIT and Grammy Award winning band’s subsequent albums are Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010) and The Fall (2011). A truly global phenomenon, Gorillaz have topped charts around the world and toured the globe from San Diego to Syria,  picking up hundreds of millions of streams and record sales along the way. Gorillaz have achieved success in entirely ground-breaking ways, winning numerous awards including the coveted Jim Henson Creativity Honor and are recognised by The Guinness Book Of World Records as the planet’s Most Successful Virtual Act. New album Humanz was released to widespread critical acclaim last month, reaching #1 and #2 in the U.S. and U.K. album charts respectively, and topping the iTunes chart in 60 plus countries around the world.

#InfiniteInfiniteContent #DressCodeGate CONTESTS LIVE NOW

Arcade Fire, whose fifth album Everything Now will be released this Friday, July 28, are currently running two Twitter contests for fans.

The first, called Infinite Infinite Content, challenges fans to create their own version of the song “Infinite Content” using only musical scores and MIDI files that the band has provided. That competition ends at 11:59 eastern time on July 27.

The second, inspired by the negative reaction to a fictional dress code that the band never insisted on for tomorrow’s intimate show in Brooklyn, is called #Dresscodegate. The band is asking fans to tweet a photo of themselves in their least hip, least trendy outfit; winners will have access to special VIP areas at the show, and they’ll be gifted a bunch of Everything Now swag.

U2 THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017

U2 THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017

BIGGEST TOUR OF THE YEAR SURPASSES 2.4 MILLION TICKETS SOLD

FIRST NORTH AMERICAN LEG WRAPS TO RAVE REVIEWS HAVING PLAYED TO MORE THAN 1 MILLION FANS

NEW SHOWS SELLING OUT IN NORTH AMERICA, MEXICO & SOUTH AMERICA

NEW YORK, NY (Thursday, July 6th, 2017) – Having played to more than one million fans, the first North American leg of U2’s The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 came to a triumphant close July 1st at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. With ticket sales surpassing 2.4 million across North and South America, the UK and Europe, and Mexico, The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 has reaffirmed its standing as the most commercially and critically successful tour of the year.

The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, produced by Live Nation Global Touring, opened May 12th at BC Place in Vancouver and made its U.S. debut May 14th at CenturyLink Field in Seattle—the latter kicking off some of the most enthusiastic critical notes in the history of U2’s relationship with America. Rolling Stone hailed the band as “a live act simply without peer,” USA Today noted “Thirty years can’t dull searing music, hopeful lyrics or the captivating Irish band behind them,” while The New York Times added “For the performance of The Joshua Tree… the band members took places on the full-sized stadium stage. They were ascending the way their career did… The band was dwarfed, but the music wasn’t. Larry Mullen Jr. on drums, Adam Clayton on bass and the Edge on guitar tore into the urgent rhythmic flux of ‘Where the Streets Have No Name.’ Against the craggy postpunk groove of ‘Bullet the Blue Sky,’ both Bono’s falsetto and the Edge’s guitar leads were keening sirens.”

The reviews of The Joshua Tree Tour 2017’s opening weekend set a tone that intensified throughout a North American run featuring 20 sold out stadium dates and U2’s first ever U.S. festival headline June 9th at Bonnaroo. Reviews for the shows have been consistently excellent, with some more recent highlights including:

“The thing about U2 is that, in almost any of their forms these past four decades, they always offer some degree of transcendence. They can’t help it… This is also what makes them what they are — legends, an institution, well beyond the levels of even some of our biggest stars today… These are songs that reminded you how many different kinds of people across countries and generations one artist, one voice can impact — and, in turn, they are songs that remind you that fighting for a better world, even when it zigs and zags over thirty years, might just be worth it.”—STEREOGUM

“U2’s Two-Hour Pep Talk is Exactly What We Need Right Now… The best U2 songs cast life as a garden of possibilities while pushing back at forces that seek to limit them. This Joshua Tree tour wisely plays just those songs. It is a two-hour pep talk. It is a technological spectacle. It is a warm bath for the soul. It will knock you on your ass.”—VULTURE

“I have left every U2 concert feeling like some measure of my humanity had been restored after being worn down by the blistering winds of the daily shit storm we call living. Last night was no exception.”—PHAWKER

“An uplifting return to Joshua Tree — and much more… Sunday’s sold-out concert at Gillette Stadium commemorated the album’s 30th anniversary by playing it in full, and it served as both a reminder of and reckoning with the power that fell into U2’s grasp at that moment in its history.”—BOSTON GLOBE

U2’s The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 heads to the UK and Europe where it kicks off with two nights in London on July 8th & 9th followed by concerts in Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels. It will then relaunch in North America September 3rd with a return to Detroit – the city where U2 played its first ever headline stadium show back on April 30th, 1987 at the Silverdome on the original Joshua Tree Tour.

The tour’s limited return to North America will include stops in Buffalo, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New Orleans, St. Louis, Phoenix and San Diego. The tour will then head to Mexico City followed by concerts in Bogota, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Sao Paulo.

Beck will be special guest for the upcoming North American dates. In Mexico and South America, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have been confirmed as special guest.

U2 The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 is produced by Live Nation Global Touring. UPS is the Official Logistics Provider of the tour.

“The title Villains isn’t a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It’s simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened… Everyone needs someone or something to rail against—their villain—same as it ever was. You can’t control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go.”—Joshua Homme

Hundreds of epic shows, memory lapses, unexplained injuries, one yearlong detour with Iggy Pop and multiple Grammy nominations later, Queens Of The Stone Age reemerge from the desert newly scarred and somehow strangely prettier with lucky seventh album, Villains, out August 25 on Matador Records. Now available for preorder on deluxe vinyl, standard vinyl, CD and digital (all formats include an instant download of first single “The Way You Used To Do”), Villains consists of the following songs:

1. Feet Don’t Fail Me
2. The Way You Used To Do
3. Domesticated Animals
4. Fortress
5. Head Like A Haunted House
6. Un-Reborn Again
7. Hideaway
8. The Evil Has Landed
9. Villains Of Circumstance

Produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder, Villains is the first full album offering from Queens Of The Stone Age since 2013’s …Like Clockwork  gave the band its first #1 album in the U.S. (and #1s in Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Scotland, #2s in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand, Finland… but really, who’s counting?). Like the stunning artwork of returning illustrator Boneface, the sonic signatures of the lineup that took …Like Clockwork  around the world and back—Founder/guitarist/ vocalist/lyricist Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar, keys), Michael Shuman (bass), Dean Fertita (keys, guitar), Jon Theodore (drums)—are as unmistakable as ever, though coexisting with sufficient new twists to induce recurring double takes. As Homme himself puts it, “The most important aspect of making this record was redefining our sound, asking and answering the question ‘what do we sound like now?’ If you can’t make a great first record, you should just stop—but if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn’t evolve, you become a parody of that original sound.”

Of his role working within such a closed and confident ecosystem as Queens Of The Stone Age, Ronson says, “Queens are and have always been my favorite rock n roll band ever since I walked into Tower on Sunset and bought Rated R in the summer of 2000, so it was incredibly surreal to be welcomed into their secret, pirate clan—or the ‘jacuzzi’ as Josh likes to call it. I also knew that my super fandom alone would not keep me in the jacuzzi. There were moments during the making of the album in which i was aware i was watching my musical heroes craft something that was sure to become one of my favorite moments on any Queens album. And to have some part in that felt like being in a dream–a very heavy, dark, wonderful dream.”

Longtime Queens cohort co-producer Mark Rankin added, “After the baptism of fire that was …Like Clockwork, I was excited to get into the studio again with the challenge of pushing the sound for this record, especially with the the addition of Ronson into the creative mix. We wanted to evolve the production to be processed in a modern way yet be totally organic and still performed fully live, like lifting a veil and what you thought was electronic is actually live and things are not as they first appear… What we’ve made is forward looking yet unmistakably Queens.”

Queens Of The Stone Age have also confirmed a slew of North American dates filling in the space between and beyond their previously announced appearances at Outside Lands and Riot Fest. The new shows, which include Queens’ first ever Madison Square Garden headline, are detailed below. For tour dates and tickets, head over to http://smarturl.it/QOTSALive.

PJ Harvey & Ramy Essam Release ‘The Camp’ on Friday June 9th

PJ Harvey and Ramy Essam to release ‘The Camp’ on

Friday June 9th 2017

PJ Harvey and Egyptian recording artist Ramy Essam have come together to write and record ‘The Camp’ – a track which they hope will raise awareness and much needed support towards the health and educational well-being of displaced children in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon.

‘The Camp’ will be digitally on Friday 9 June 2017. Harvey and Essam recorded the track in Bristol with Harvey’s longtime collaborator John Parish, who produced and mixed the track, and also appears on drums and guitars. The artists will donate all net profits from the track to Beyond Association in the Bekaa Valley, a national Lebanese non-Governmental Organization. Beyond Association provides services such as access to education, healthcare, and psycho-social support mainly through art therapy, neuro-physiotherapy, and recreational activities.

“It is hard to comprehend the scale of the crisis in Lebanon, a country of 4 million now hosting over 1 million Syrian refugees,” states photo-journalist Giles Duley whose arresting photographs feature in the official music video, edited by Rick Holbrook. “The infrastructure of the country is pushed to its limit, and nowhere is that situation more desperate than in the Bekaa Valley. However, there are some amazing organizations doing incredible, effective, and selfless work on the ground there, and all of the NGOs I have documented, none have impressed me more than Beyond. To visit their schools and witness their programs is to see hope – and that is something we have to support.”

Discussing how the project came to be, PJ Harvey explains how she instinctively knew that she wanted to collaborate with Essam; be it as a contribution to one of his ongoing projects, or something entirely new. “I began putting some ideas on paper, and sent over rough demos of two or three songs in their early forms,” recalls Harvey. One of these songs would ultimately become The Camp. When discussing the subject matter of the track, Ramy Essam speaks of his experiences during the revolution in the streets of Egypt. “I dealt with fights, beating, torture and the loss of friends,” he explains. While Essam’s struggle continues, he speaks fondly of the unique opportunity to work with PJ Harvey. “She is a humble person and true artist that I only could dream to even meet – and now I’m singing with her for this important cause, for humanity,” said Essam of the collaboration. “It was an honour to work with PJ Harvey, and I found it so inspiring. It gave me a chance to live my dream for a while.”

“When Polly and Ramy asked me to help provide some of the visuals for The Camp, I had no difficulty in deciding what photographs we should use,” says Giles Duley. “In my work I have documented the effects of conflict and humanitarian disaster across the world, but little has had greater impact on me than the human drama I witnessed on the island of Lesvos in 2015. I thought I had seen it all, but I can honestly say I have never been so overwhelmed as by the human drama that I watched unfolding on those beaches. Its sheer scale was hard to comprehend; the lack of response impossible to explain or excuse. So it is those images from the beaches, and the refugees’ journey from Greece to Germany that we used in the video for The Camp.”

U2: THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017 – THE TOUR OF THE YEAR GETS EXTENDED!

U2 THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017

THE TOUR OF THE YEAR GETS EXTENDED!

WITH NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED IN NORTH AMERICA, MEXICO & SOUTH AMERICA

TO CELEBRATE 30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BAND’S CLASSIC FIFTH ALBUM

“They are a live act simply without peer… it really felt like they were reapplying for the job of the best band in the world by showing how they earned the title in the first place.”—ROLLING STONE

“For the performance of The Joshua Tree… the band members took places on the full-sized stadium stage. They were ascending the way their career did… The band was dwarfed, but the music wasn’t. Larry Mullen Jr. on drums, Adam Clayton on bass and the Edge on guitar tore into the urgent rhythmic flux of ‘Where the Streets Have No Name.’ Against the craggy postpunk groove of ‘Bullet the Blue Sky,’ both Bono’s falsetto and the Edge’s guitar leads were keening sirens.”—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“Thirty years can’t dull searing music, hopeful lyrics or the captivating Irish band behind them”
—USA TODAY

“The iconic rockers not only unpack a masterpiece but provide moments to hold on to forever”
—CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
