One surprise summer rock anthem coupled with a video of the band doing the senior citizen time warp, one extraterrestrial opus complete with floating children, and one “search for hope in this day and age where you feel as if you’re fighting for your life with every passing moment, and everything is on the line” and now finally…

… 2017’s most massive and ambitious rock n roll opus has arrived: September 15 is here and so is Foo Fighters’ all new ninth studio album Concrete and Gold, released on this day A.D. Roswell Records/RCA Records.

Written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp, Concrete and Gold is eleven songs that push Foo Fighters’ melodic and hard rock extremes like never before—and early critical notices have been fittingly over the top, shaping up to be the most positive of Foo Fighters’ monolithic career:

“Turbocharged… a steady supply of fierce riffs, anthem-topping melodies and believable angst… Foo Fighters keep honing their skills.”—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“Arguably the biggest American rock band of the past 20 years”—ROLLING STONE

“There are some real impactful sun-through-the-clouds harmonies all across the album, reminiscent of Abbey Road’s choir-like accents that made weightless rock songs with real meat on their bones… the best Foo Fighters album of this century… Perhaps we have a few superheroes left above ground after all.”—STEREOGUM

“This is thrilling, heroic rock.”—ASSOCIATED PRESS

“Stretches Grohl’s melodic capacities into unsuspecting chord changes that seesaw delightfully atop White Album harmonies”—CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

“Rock’s reigning kings get an infusion of power and pop… The Foos go for more artistically than they have in years and succeed every time.”—NEWSDAY

“One of the true landmark albums set to drop this fall.”—UPROXX

“All the gems are hidden in plain sight… Their sound doesn’t age… there’s no one else like them anymore: They’re a mainstream of one.”—VULTURE

Concrete and Gold’s arrival was most recently heralded by the straightforward FF signature burner “The Line.” Prior to that, “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” was visually realized as a Grohl-directed kaleidoscopic sci-fi mini-epic as hypnotic as the slow burning rock stomper that gave it life. The run-up to Concrete and Gold began just as auspiciously, with the June 1 surprise release of the Billboard Mainstream Rock #1 smash “Run.” With more than 2 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours, “Run” rocketed into the top 5 of the iTunes video chart and the top of the 15 iTunes singles chart—quickly amassing the highest first-day numbers of any single in the Foo Fighters’ career.

Also premiering on the day of Concrete and Gold’s release is “The Making of Concrete and Gold,” an animated featurette written by narrator and main toon Dave Grohl, directed by Visual Creatures and illustrated by Joe Garber. For anyone who’s ever wondered what birds, bees, chicken wings, Justin Timberlake and Paul McCartney have in common, the answers are all there in the animated rockumentary “The Making of Concrete and Gold,” which can be enjoyed over and over at http://smarturl.it/FFMCG.

Concrete and Gold will naturally be supported with a grueling trek of the arena, stadium and festival stages of the world. The U.S. leg kicks off October 7 with the band’s Cal Jam 17 festival at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA: a non-stop 100% live 12-hour rock n roll extravaganza featuring Queens Of The Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, Liam Gallagher, The Kills, Royal Blood, Japandroids, Wolf Alice, Bob Mould, The Struts, Bully, Circa Waves, Babes in Toyland, Adia Victoria, Fireball Ministry, The Obsessed, Pinky Pinky, Starcrawler, White Reaper… as well as camping, carnival rides, a water park, attractions, a mobile recording studio & so much more. On Fridaynight, October 6, campers will also experience the world’s best Go-Go band Big Tony & Trouble Funk, an outdoor movie theater and many other surprises.

G Foot Creative Director Remi Kabaka said, “G Foot is a post-skate wear collection reminiscent of class acts like  Silas, Eley Kishimoto or LaurenceAirline .  Positive vibrant brands, with no shame in their game.”

The Gorillaz Meadows headline performance kicks off the next leg of the Humanz tour that began its sold-out North American run July 8 in Chicago. The tour has played Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco and more to the largest and most enthusiastic U.S. crowds Gorillaz has seen to date—and critical response has been equally enthusiastic:

“An overwhelming pop spectacle, with Damon Albarn’s steady presence to keep the audience focused”—ROLLING STONE

“The ultimate triumph was Albarn’s — a multiculti, multigenre musical journey that touched on hip-hop, funk, Chicago house and gospel.”—CHICAGO TRIBUNE

“Above all the cartoon shenanigans, instrumental pomp, and star-studded guest list, Damon Albarn is a goddamn brilliant performer, goddamn!”—CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

“Gorillaz’ latest parade of guest stars and animated theatrics is as intoxicating as ever.”—PASTE

Humanz was released April 28th on Warner Bros. to widespread critical acclaim, reaching #1 and #2 in the U.S. and U.K. album charts respectively, and topping the iTunes chart in 60 plus countries around the world. The 14-track album is available on standard CD, vinyl and as a digital download, as well as a 19-track 2-CD Deluxe. A limited edition Super Deluxe Vinyl Box Set featuring new and previously unreleased ‘b-sides’ / alternate versions of album tracks, is available to pre-order via gorillaz.com/store now. “Arguably the biggest American rock band of the past 20 years”—ROLLING STONE Cover Story, September 21 Issue

The countdown to the year’s most massive and ambitious melodic hard rock magnum opus just started ticking that much faster: “The Line,” the newest advance offering from Foo Fighters’ about to be released ninth studio album Concrete and Gold, has been made available as an instant grat with pre-ordersplaced in advance of the new record’s September 15 release on Roswell Records/RCA Records.

“The Line” pairs a signature Foo Fighters propulsive melody with an urgent heartfelt lyric and rousing chorus described by composer Dave Grohl as “a search for hope in this day and age where you feel as if you’re fighting for your life with every passing moment, and everything is on the line.”

“The Line” is the third of Concrete and Gold’s eleven songs to be unveiled ahead of the album’s impending arrival, the second being “The Sky Is A Neighborhood,” visually realized as a Grohl-directed  kaleidoscopic sci-fi mini-epic as massive as the slow burning rock anthem that gave it life—one of the most striking entries of the Foo Fighters’ video canon, and the first one to score the band coverage on SPACE.COM.

Birds. Bees. Chicken Wings. Justin Timberlake. A Beatle… Find out what these things have in common when the animated rockumentary “The Making of Concrete and Gold” arrives on September 15.

To hold you over until then, here’s a taste https://youtu.be/NKcs-pa-IzM

Creator, writer and executive producer Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), along with writer/executive producer Nick Weidenfeld and his Friends Night banner and executive producer Hend Baghdady present Neo Yokio: A groundbreaking new animated series starring the voice talents of Jaden SmithSusan SarandonJude LawTavi GevinsonJason Schwartzman, and Desus & Mero, along with Richard AyoadeIke BarinholtzSteve BuscemiAlexa ChungStephen FryKaty MixonAnnet MahendruKiernan ShipkaWillow SmithAmanda StenbergDave Macklovitch (of Chromeo) and Nico Muhly.

A collaboration with Japanese anime studios Production IG and Studio Deen, along with MOI, the Seoul-based animation studio, Neo Yokio is a postmodern collage of homages to classic anime, English literature and modern New York fashion and culture. Storyboard artists for the series include Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Mobile Suit Gundam UnicornHunter x HunterRurouni Kenshin) and Junji Nishimura (Ranma 1/2Urusei YatsuraPro Golfer Saru).

The Series features music from Bach, Vivaldi and Beethoven as well as original music from Dev Hynes (of Blood Orange) and Baths.

Neo Yokio is a near-future serial set in the greatest city in the world. It’s the most populous urban agglomeration in North America, but its prestige does not merely stem from its size. Neo Yokio is a diverse labyrinth of cultural and architectural innovation at the forefront of global fashion and finance.

This is all cold comfort to the lovesick Kaz Kaan (Jaden Smith), the youngest member of a family of “magistocrats” – pink-haired demon slayers who once liberated the city. Today, his demon-slaying is barely more than a side-hustle coordinated by his Aunt Agatha (Susan Sarandon) – Kaz himself would rather concern himself with shopping, field hockey and – of course – mending his broken heart.

Neo Yokio’s supporting cast includes Kaz’s faithful mecha-butler, Charles (Jude Law), and his inseparable friends Lexy and Gottlieb (The Kid Mero and Desus Nice). Together they navigate the complexities of life in Neo Yokio and try to stay one step ahead of Kaz’s arch-rival, Neo Yokio’s number one most eligible bachelor, Arcangelo Corelli (Jason Schwartzman.)

Things take a mysterious turn when Kaz is drawn into the turbulent world of ex-fashion blogger Helena St. Tessero (Tavi Gevinson), setting in motion a sequence of events that force him to question everything he knows about Neo Yokio.

All six episodes of Neo Yokio will launch globally on Friday, September 22 exclusively on Netflix.

BECK: “UP ALL NIGHT” NEWEST TRACK & EPIC VIDEO FROM COLORS

BECK

“Up All Night”

NEWEST TRACK & EPIC VIDEO FROM COLORS

FOLLOW UP TO GRAMMY ALBUM OF THE YEAR MORNING PHASE OUT OCTOBER 13

Pre-Order Live Now

Beck has issued an anthemic call to arms–and legs–with “Up All Night,” the irresistible new single and epic video one-two salvo in advance of his imminent 13th album and “euphoric blast of experimental pop” (ROLLING STONE), Colors – due out October 13 on Capitol Records.

In keeping with the life-affirming spirit and groove of the song itself, the sweeping cinematic arc created by Director Canada, Executive Producer Oscar Romagosa and Producer Laura Serra Estorch features a narrative of triumph over hallucinogenic adversity. “Up All Night” tracks its fearless heroine (Solene Rigot) through an increasingly bizarre series of trials as she races against the sun-and at times the very rules of reality-to rescue a fallen friend (Pedro Attenborough).

Having appeared in an earlier incarnation on the EA SPORTS FIFA 17 soundtrack, the buoyant “Up All Night” is the newest advance taste of the most aptly titled work in Beck’s storied discography. Beck’s first full length offering of new material since 2014’s Morning Phase took Album of the Year top honors at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, Colors unfolds in an intoxicating rainbow of auditory tricks and treats, making it a shoo-in for the summeriest smash of the fall season. Prior to “Up All Night,” the album’s most recent single was the captivating piano-driven “Dear Life,” released August 24 and eliciting Beatles and Beach Boys comparisons from THE NEW YORK TIMES amongst a slew of generation spanning critical raves including:
“‘Dear Life’ makes good on Beck’s promise, with waltzing pianos, a killer guitar riff, and am immediately memorable chorus.”–ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“Leave it to Beck to craft a sunny, upbeat pop song that doubles as a scream into the void… the kaleidoscopic new single from his forthcoming album, Colors, has something for partiers and wallflowers alike… when Beck asks on the buoyant chorus about the thrill being gone, the answer is: not yet-not in his career, not in this life-affirming song.”–PITCHFORK

“Fans of Beck will have even more to love in the perennial hitmaker’s latest… a dark pop-rock sound that hints at influences from everyone from The Beatles to Spoon.”–TIME 5 Songs You Need To Listen To This Week

The complete track listing for Colors is:

Colors
7th Heaven
I’m So Free
Dear Life
No Distraction
Dreams
Wow
Up All Night
Square One
Fix Me

Colors was produced by Greg Kurstin and Beck, with the exception of “Wow” produced by Beck and Cole M.G.N., and “Fix Me” produced by Beck. The album was mixed by Serban Ghenea, except “Dreams” and “Up All Night,” which were mixed by Greg Kurstin and Beck.

Beck recently accepted U2’s invitation to appear as special guest on the current leg of The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, on which he is supporting the band on stadium dates that began September 3 at Ford Field in Detroit and continue through September 22 at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.

U2 to Perform “You’re The Best Thing About Me” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Tomorrow Evening

“You’re The Best Thing About Me,” the first single from U2’s highly anticipated 14th studio album, Songs of Experience, is released today.

Accompanied by exclusive art, the new single features a sleeve image of The Edge’s daughter Sian Evans, photographed by Anton Corbijn.

To see the band’s first-ever performance of “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” tune in tomorrow evening to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Songs Of Experience is the companion release to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence, the two titles drawing inspiration from a collection of poems, ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’,  by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake.  While Songs of Innocence charted the band’s earliest influences and experiences in the late 1970s and early 80s, the new album is a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the Bono’s heart; family, friends, fans, himself.

“In a time of tumult and daily, almost hourly angst, U2 have done the truly unexpected. The band known for powerful message songs released a throwback, classic love song called ‘You’re the Best Thing About Me.'” — Billboard

In an excerpt from an interview with Jon Pareles of The New York Times, “You’re putting out a song about your girlfriend when the world is on fire?,” Bono asked, anticipating one reaction. “Yes. Joy is an act of defiance.”

“U2 refuses to rush its albums, ” says Jon Pareles of the New York Times. “Ever more aware of its singular status as a rock band that has started its fifth decade with its original lineup — and is still selling out arenas and stadiums — the group constantly weighs both its past and its determination to move ahead. Its ambitions are high-minded and grandly scaled; its attitude remains earnest, patient and craftsmanlike.”

For a closer behind-the-scenes look on the making of Songs of Experience, read Pareles’ feature on the band’s upcoming album here.

The release of “You’re The Best Thing About Me” follows last week’s surprise gift to fans of “The Blackout” performance video, another track from the upcoming album that New York Magazine has declared “electrifying.”

Songs of Experience will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download, with the release date and pre-order details to be announced soon.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: VILLAINS STEALS TOP SPOTS ON CHARTS WORLDWIDE

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

VILLAINS STEALS TOP SPOTS ON CHARTS WORLDWIDE

#1 DEBUT ON U.S. ALBUM CHART

Critical Smash Seventh Album Debuts at #1 in Seven Countries

“(FOUR STARS) Suggesting latter-day Led Zep if they’d wrapped their head around New Wave… a galloping assault pitched between Devo and the Buzzcocks… Headbangers may be put off that QOTSA is now targeting feet and asses; too bad for them.”—ROLLING STONE

“A 100% hit-rate exceedingly rare for rock bands with 20 years in the game… Many younger acts start running on steam in hardly half the time that QOTSA’s managed to maintain their grease-fire fuel source, making their continued vitality not only impressive but reassuringly inspiring. It remains unclear whether Homme would like us to see him as hero or villain, but there’s no disputing that his example is one that every other band should be striving to follow either way.”—STEREOGUM

“Homme’s rock ’n’ roll instincts are still as keen as ever… even more miraculous is the notion that Queens of the Stone Age have perhaps yet to hit their creative peak—no small feat for any band”—PASTE

“The grooviest record the alt-rock mainstays have released… the results thrill.”—PEOPLE

“Purposeful and sinister … like a snarling, evil thing cut loose and raging. I couldn’t ask this band for more.”—VULTURE

“An utterly unique institution in contemporary music, a smart and contrarian hard-rock behemoth… affects a veneer of bravado that nonetheless feels wounded and vulnerable… hearing Homme, rock’s reigning man’s man, sing so openly about personal weakness is bracing.”—UPROXX

The critics and the people—hey, everyone’s a critic right?—have spoken:

Queens Of The Stone Age’s monolithic seventh album, Villains, released August 25 on Matador Records, has stolen the hearts and souls of the music-loving (and purchasing) populace the world over.

Villains debuted at #1 in the UK, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and Portugal, #2 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Norway and Ireland, #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the U.S. album chart, #4 on Japan’s international chart and #5 in Italy—easily the single biggest global sales week of the Queens’ seven album stretch.

Villains’ first seven days in existence also saw nearly 100,000 vinyl albums moved worldwide, as the record became the #1 selling vinyl LP in the UK, U.S. and Germany.

In other good news on the band’s U.S. home front, Villains also took the #1 spot on the Alternative, Hard, Rock, Internet and Independent Label Album charts and #2 on the Digital Album sales chart.

With the unlikely pairing of producer Mark Ronson and Queens Of The Stone Age now a scientifically proven success,  Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore will take the new songs on the road this week, opening the North American leg of the Villains world tour with a long since sold out show September 6 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. Tickets for the massive run, which includes the band’s first ever headline at New York’s Madison Square Garden, have already sold out at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks, as well as in Grand Rapids, Cleveland, St. Louis, Kansas City, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Washington DC, Boston, Portland ME and more to go clean soon…
