| RA RA RIOT ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR DATES-
THE RHUMB LINE OUT AUGUST 19
Syracuse, New York-based quintet Ra Ra Riot will be returning to the road this fall, touring in support of their debut full length, The Rhumb Line (out August 19th on Barsuk). Walter Meego is scheduled as main support and the morning benders will open select dates.
Formed in the early months of 2006 in Syracuse, Ra Ra Riot merges youthful energy with seasoned pop finesse. To witness the band on stage – or for that matter, the audiences at their shows – is to observe an intensely joyful, but never frivolous, experience in progress. The music is intriguingly blissful, but acknowledges the possibility of impending despair. Like life itself, Ra Ra Riot balances beauty and tragedy in varying measure, while always keeping joy the focus of the music.
Ra Ra Riot spent late 2007 recording The Rhumb Line with producer Ryan Hadlock (The Gossip, Blonde Redhead, Islands). Soon afterwards, the band was on the road again, playing over 80 shows all around the U.S, both supporting the Cribs and headlining their own shows. They will be playing the following shows this summer, before embarking on their fall headlining tour:
July 6 - Summerfest (Milwaukee, WI)
July 19 - Siren Festival (Brooklyn, NY)
July 26 - Wicker Park Festival (Chicago, IL)
August 3 - Parades De Coura (Porto, Portugal)
Ra Ra Riot is:
Milo Bonacci - Guitars
Alexandra Lawn - Cello
Wesley Miles - Vocals
Mathieu Santos - Bass
Rebecca Zeller – Violin
Walter Meego is not a dude, but a duo. Justin Sconza and Colin Yarck, the heart and soul (respectively) of Walter Meego, are two rare suburban white boys who intuitively understand the subliminal power of dirty, salacious bass without neglecting the power of the song. Effervescent pop is Walter Meego’s specialty, and it flies out of speakers like a Pegasus riding a cheetah.
Berkeley, California’s the morning benders’ are a bit weary from their first ever nationwide tour, a trip which took them across the US (and Canada) with The Kooks. They just returned home and are now leaving again... this time to support We Are Scientists, beginning this week. They will be supporting Supergrass in July, playing Monolith and Treasure Island Festivals in September, and then joining Ra Ra Riot on their US Tour this Fall. They are playing shows, shaking hands and kissing babies, all in support of their debut album talking through tin cans (+1 Records). www.myspace.com/themorningbenders
